  1. Finishing up the 1997 Playoffs Packers Divisional Chiefs Divisional
  2. There was a good sneak peak article on this site on what next year's logo may look like. Check it out here for those who haven't seen it already https://news.sportslogos.net/2023/01/30/first-look-at-super-bowl-lviii-logo-in-las-vegas/football/ But here is the mock up someone drew from memory It'll be interesting to see the actual logo come out, but I think this tip is legitimate. I'd expect more gradient throughout the logo as with the last two. I'm guessing we'd see mostly purple and black throughout, and maybe some other colors with the background with the skyline and the welcome to Las Vegas sign.
  3. I agree, these oversized logos do look really nice on the field, especially with the amount of color they've had the last two seasons. They've certainly taken the templated logo designs to a much better place since they started in Super Bowl XLV. Here's another pic with the logo in progress
  4. Another pick of the field Looks like the Super Bowl logos will span a width of 16 yards this season, larger than the 14 yards from last season. The height however is what looks to remain the same as last season. So maybe a new standard height for the on field Super Bowl logo for at least the next few seasons.
  5. The Chiefs originally chose yellow back for Super Bowl LIV because they were using their yellow throwback endzones as a tribute to their Super Bowl IV win. They used those through the playoffs, then went on and chose it for the Super Bowl. Kept the same design for the following season after winning with the yellow endzones. It will be interesting, now a couple years removed from all that, and following a loss in their last Super Bowl with yellow endzones, if they keep the same design, or move onto something different. It's not often teams change endzone colors without a design change, especially when they're currently in a string of recent Super Bowl appearances. The only endzone color changes I can think of within a relatively short time frame (so, for example, ignoring the Packers change from yellow to green between SB II and XXXI) would be: Vikings from purple to yellow between IV and VIII (this happened because the endzone design used purple helmets) Dolphins from Aqua to Coral between XVII and XIX (I'm speculating because the dolphins had aqua facemasks on the endzone helmets) and Patriots from red to navy between XXXI and XXXVI Outside of that, there aren't many more examples of teams that changed the basic color, even between design changes. I think just: Packers (yellow to green) Eagles (silver to green => only silver to begin with because of green helmets in SB XV endzone) Bears (orange to navy => only orange to begin with because of navy helmets in SB XX endzone) Giants (red to blue => only red to begin with because of blue helmets in SB XXI/XXV endzones) Broncos (orange to navy due to design changes) Rams (yellow to navy/blue due to design changes) So really no examples of a team changing endzone colors in a short period of time, without a design change, or a Super Bowl field design change. Really, the only team to do that is the Dolphins between Super Bowl XVII and XIX. Not saying the Chiefs couldn't change, but it would be of note becuase of how rare it has been in the past.
  6. Here's our matchup. This will just be speculation on what the field could look like, based on the past several seasons. I'll still hold out some hope that we could see something different and interesting, but I can't say I have much hope for that. Maybe they paint the teamboxes similar to Super Bowl XLIX.
  7. Here are the 3 remaining 1997 Wild Card Playoff Fields (still have 2 divisional round fields to go). Broncos Patriots Buccaneers
  8. Finishing up the 1998 playoffs Falcons Divisional One thing of note; the NFC logos appear to be re-used from the Cowboys endzone in Super Bowl XXVIII, as they are the same shape and size. Vikings Divisional Broncos Divisional and Conference Championship
  9. A good number of these requests are in the alternate Super Bowl fields thread here: Some of the more recent years are in this thread as well. I'm not going to do any requests right now, as I'm working on some of the old playoffs fields, working my way back from the late 90's at the moment. Too many other things going on at the Gridiron Uniforms Database right now as well for me to have the time to fill requests.
  10. 1998 Dolphins Wild Card Another example of covering up a bowl game field
  11. Here's a couple of examples of the Jaguars doing the same thing, covering Bowl advertisers and logos, but in a worse way 1998 1999 And then a better way more recently in 2020
  12. Finishing off the last 3 fields for the 1999 playoffs Wild Card Minnesota Seattle Divisional Indianapolis
  13. This is likely it. If you look at video of the game, you can see text in the endzone under the blue paint from the orange bowl. Also why the Dolphins midfield logo is so large (don't think I've ever seen it that large on the field before)
  14. Finishing up the last 5 fields for the 2000 playoffs Crazy just how much more interesting NFL fields used to be. Wild Card Dolphins Saints Ravens Eagles Divisional Vikings
  15. Finishing up the 2001 playoffs fields that I had not done already Packers Wild Card Bears Divisional Patriots Divisional (Tuck Rule Game) And because the field can't actually be seen, this is the field without snow
  16. 1993 Cleveland Browns The Browns logo from the Steelers and Broncos games had crossed my path a couple of times, so I gave it a go, then ended up doing the rest of the 1993 fields to finish off the year. Weeks 1, 2 Week 6 Week 8, 10 Weeks 12, 14, 16
  17. I suppose I should have said, late afternoon lighting, if the roof will be closed. Not sure if the roof was open or closed for Super Bowl XLII, but any bit of sunlight during the start of the game helps the field really pop.
  18. We're down to the final 4, so it's time to take a look at the 4 possible fields, based on recent field history. Kansas City vs Philadelphia Kansas City vs San Francisco Cincinnati vs Philadelphia Cincinnati vs San Francisco I think all these fields have some good color that will pop, although Bengals-Eagles has the least color of the bunch, and in my opinion, the least best of the bunch. I expect the Super Bowl logo will look great on the field though, if they keep it as large as last year. Lots of colors in this years logo, which should look great with the late afternoon sun.
  19. Fields from the divisional round Kansas City Pretty standard for them. I expect the same next week. Philadelphia Went with black number outlines instead of green, while using a green endzone. Does not happen to often for this combo. We can probably expect the same for next week. Buffalo The snow was the main difference from last weeks field, otherwise, everything else remained the same San Francisco No changes from last weeks field
  20. I think I'm finally done with all the striped Bengals fields with these last two (those stripes were a major pain) 1997-1999 Bengals Early Season (During Baseball Season) After Baseball
  21. I've got one here. You'd have to remove the NFL logo yourself if you don't want it there. Also, the directional arrows aren't the correct size, but for concept purposes, it should do.
  22. Lastly for Paul Brown Stadium 2000 2000 - Week 16 A good old snow game to finish off the season. The orange outline certainly helped in showing the field boundaries.
  23. A couple different designs through the year in 2001 and 2002, but I'll get the basic ones. 2001 Kickoff 2001 Early season 2001 late season - 2002 2002 kickoff
  24. I guess I'll have to go far enough back in time to find out. I do know that in Madden 2004 (my personal favorite) the Bengals endzones in the game are black stripes all the way across, going the full depth of the endzone, with an orange outline. That was based off the 2002 season, and that's pretty consistent with images online of the 2002 season. Not sure if the stripped endzones go back further than that.
  25. Cincinnati Bengals 2003-2007 I'm not posting all fields from 2003 to 2007, just enough to show design changes. Full set here: https://gridiron-uniforms.com/fields/controller/controller.php?action=view-team-all&team_id=CIN&city=Cincinnati&name=Bengals 2003 Last season with grass for the Bengals. The endzone wordmark is interesting, because it doesn't match any official team wordmark. 2004-2005 Introduction to the turf field and the endzones we see today (although, the endzones were redone in 2018) 2006-2007 NFL logo added at the 25s
