  1. Henderson's numbers are illegible on the AHLTV feed. Also, while I like the chrome helmet in theory, that makes 4 shades of silver/gray/black which is just one too many. The black upper arms make the helmet seem stranger too.
  2. That could be it also. They might be saving them for the regular season.
  3. I'm guessing they're going to be used for certain games, like when Nashville originally wore gold helmets only on Saturdays, because those are definitely dark gray.
  4. There's enough metallic silver in Henderson's logo that it kind of works, but the flat gray fabric still clashes too much with it imo. Now, a chrome helmet with a metallic silver jersey a la Vegas's gold alternate, that would be...interesting? Maybe?
  5. The winner of the Stanley Cup this year will end the longest drought between a team's 1st and 2nd win. The Bruins took 10 years to win their 2nd championship (1929 and 1939). In the expansion era though, the gap was at most 5 years (Devils in 1995 and 2000, Avalanche in 1996 and 2001). Original 6 era franchise records in italics. 10 seasons - Bruins 6 seasons - Canadiens 5 seasons - Avalanche, Devils, Rangers 4 seasons - Blackhawks, Toronto 3 seasons - Blackhawks 2 seasons - Bruins, Kings 1 season - Canadiens, Flyers, Islanders, Oilers, Penguins, Red Wings, Red Wings, Senators 1.0 If the Lightning win, it'll break a 15 season drought while if the Stars win, it'll end a 20 season gap!
  6. Hot damn, you're right. The logo is supposed to have the Ottawa Senators script instead of the laurels. The numbers aren't within the sleeve stripes either. Such a simple jersey and yet they couldn't get two of the more unique elements right!
  7. The wordmark and secondary should read "De Montreal." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Expos The Sens' wordmark uses D' because Ottawa starts with a vowel.
  8. The Canadiens have done it 3 times with numbers 5, 12, and 16 and the Maple Leafs have 6 pairs of the same retired numbers with 1, 4, 7, 9, 10, and 27. The latter is different though since most of those were honored and acknowledged by the team until they decided to formally retire them last year.
  9. For the 5th time in NHL history, home teams went 9-0-0. It's never happened where 10 or more have won. The Senators have won on each of these days and all by wide margins. March 17, 1996 - Ottawa over Tampa Bay 5-0 October 9, 2003 - Ottawa over Montreal 5-2 November 20, 2003 - Ottawa over Carolina 6-1 February 28, 2004 - Ottawa over Buffalo 7-1 November 6, 2018 - Ottawa over New Jersey 7-3 Plus 3 of these dates happened during the 2003-04 season!
  10. Didn't think this needed a new thread, but the 2020 AHL All-Star game is going to be in Ontario, CA. The logo was unveiled at the Kings vs Kings scrimmage.
  11. Nikolai Khabibulin was in a similar situation in 1999. He sat out the season and played for the Long Beach Ice Dogs (IHL). He ended up playing in 33 games though and won league MVP.
  12. With Ben Bishop being traded to Dallas, it looks like his days with the Kings are over (unless he doesn't sign with the Stars and becomes a UFA on July 1st, then signs back in LA...). After being traded to LA at the end of February, Bishop played 7 games as a King. Four of those games were against the Calgary Flames. Only one of these was in relief.
  13. Found a bizarre color v color NHL match up between the Kings and the original Winnipeg Jets from either 1988-89 or 1989-90. The game looks like it was at the Forum, so the Kings should have been in white. Anyone know anything about this?
  14. A few rare match ups from the final 3 seasons of the California Golden Seals. 5 home games vs Washington (1974-76) (The larger photo was from an article about the Caps lone road win their first year, but I couldn't find confirmation of this. The goal scorer, Wayne King, only scored 5 goals in his career, but again no idea who those were against.) 2 home games vs St. Louis (1973-74) - last year of gold Seals jersey, first year of Blues jersey with Y-W-Y stripes
  15. New jersey, wrong number James van Riemsdyk has worn 21 with the Maple Leafs for 4 seasons. With Toronto officially retiring their previously honoured jerseys, JVR changed his number to 25. This is from their last preseason game. I couldn't find a picture of him from their season opener in Ottawa.
  16. As shared by Chris on twitter, the Stars and Panthers whiteout preseason game in London, Ont. Someone messed up big time on this one.
  17. Whoops, not sure how I missed that one. Still no pictures following a second search unfortunately...
  18. Every now and again I look for NHL match-ups that fall in this thread. I'm not sure if it was one of the sets listed a few pages back, but the Mighty Ducks met the Boston Bruins two times in 1993-94 and not at all in 1995 (lockout). Not a great picture, but it's the best that I could find. No pictures found of the Ducks eggplant set versus the white Bruins jersey.
  19. The picture isn't great, but it comes from a video clip showing the Kings meeting the Flyers in 1981. This was the first year of the Kings 2nd purple/gold set and the last year that this Flyers set was worn without Cooperalls (the jerseys changed in '82). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_u9njGiF7I
  20. In honor of his Hall of Fame induction, Rogie Vachon playing for Detroit (1978-80) and Boston (1980-82) in his final seasons.
  21. Can't believe he spent parts of 2 seasons with the Kings to end his NHL career. Bonus picture in the wrong mask!
