  1. Seeing them in action today I absolutely loved them. Looks so classic and clean.
  2. Report: NBA investigating Toronto Raptors' Jontay Porter for prop betting irregularities https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39808900/nba-eyes-raptors-jontay-porter-betting-issues Welp. It was only a matter of time.
  3. Leave it to Nebraska to change that God what an embarrassing performance. At least five of our six best players graduate so we’ll have to start all over just to hope to get back to a place where Hoiberg gets mercilessly outcoached. Now I’m grumpy lmao. The tournament is more fun when your team’s not in it.
  4. I am breaking my “never blame the officials” spell for this one. Apologies to anyone complaining about refs I have yelled at before, I get it now. Yes, Samford should have played better throughout the game. They had some really dumb possessions, bricked some huge free throws, and still had a chance to take it to OT after the call, but oh my god that’s egregious. The ref was clearly gonna call a foul no matter what happened on that play, it was a pure anticipation call with no way to correct it if it went wrong. He didn’t even touch the guy. Why I’m really mad about this is Samford may never get this chance again. They hadn’t made it in 24 years before this year, and had a blue blood on the absolute ropes. Add in the powers that be desperately wanting to weed these teams out of the big dance sooner rather than later and there’s a chance this may be it for this team and fanbase. Yet this is how it ends. A ref not playing who’s not even paying attention to what’s in front of his eyes letting a Kansas team who wants to flush this season ASAP move on for nothing. Wooh that was cathartic. And I don’t even have a connection to Samford other than them being a team with a high number next to their name in March.
  5. Jack Gohlke is such a perfect March Madness character.
  6. IIRC Rodman tried but the NBA wouldn’t allow it. I think that makes the NBA the only league with a number banned, not retired, leaguewide.
  7. Definitely a downgrade but not by as much as I was fearing. Will need to see all angles and the full set obviously but I think I can live with this. White sox on the road (will likely be worn on home too but let’s ignore that for now) is an upgrade over blue, but not as much as red would be.
  8. Texas A&M Round 1 right after they poached our athletic director. Ooh wee. We're playing our best ball of the year and so are they. I'm conditioned to expect heartbreak but I think we can take em. AND THE WOMEN ARE PLAYING A&M TOO AHAHAHAHA
  9. Didn't watch, but saw on Twitter that there was a five second stretch of game action that took 11 minutes because of the reviews.
  10. All 10 seeds until eternity now have hope. Five games in five days, taking down Duke, Virginia and UNC in the process.
  11. Atlanta takes the top spot in the league after downing Omaha 3-1. Pretty good match until we fell apart in the fourth set.
  12. Was hoping for Stony Brook to make its second tourney appearance ever, but what a performance it was even if it was a shot short. That Tyler Stephenson-Moore kid is a pure stud. Hopefully Charleston can pull some upset juice in the tourney. This year's squad is worse than last year's who couldn't get it done, but that team ran into the eventual runner-ups round one and gave them hell so I'm not counting them out.
  13. I will say navy and pink are the most prominent at the arena, so I think that's the way to go. Choosing light blue and pink would make every crowd look like they got lost to a gender reveal party.
  14. Maybe the Nike switch threw things off, but there have been <5 year NBA sets recently. The new Clippers 1.0 lasted just two years until the Nike switch. The Orange/Black Suns faux starbursts lasted four years, also deaded by the Nike switch. The Nuggets had a weird phase with a two year font change on the Melo era jerseys than a one year color swap to navy before the new set rolled in. The Rockets’ shortened shoulder loops only lasted two years, and the no-panel chevron Raptors only lasted three.
  15. I do largely like this a lot. The old logo package wasn't insurmountable by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm happy the new one clears it and finally puts nauticalness back in the forefront. Twins comparisons are absolutely warranted, but given that they wear it better than the Twins, who shouldn't be wearing that at all, I'll allow it. Some yays - Nice to see a Clippers wordmark that's not an anchor on the uniform quality - They look very professional, if they win a championship in these it'd look way more right than their last few sets. - Nice to see Los Angeles repped in full after the team basically officially became LA. - They absolutely nailed the waistband designs on all three Some gripes - The compass shouldn't be in the main logo, it looks like a scope. - The ship isn't very Clippery - The no-outline color-on-color scripts will likely get lost (but thankfully they behaved themselves with the numbers) - NOB on the white jersey should be navy not red - Would rather see the nautical flag side panels on navy/white than the thin line - Would rather it be powder than navy
  16. Second set ended 27-25 and the other two sets were 25-23. Great game.
  17. Didn’t get a screenshot, but Columbus’ mop people don fedoras and wear shirts that say “The Mopsters”. Solid gag.
  18. I liked Orlando’s jersey. It’s gimmicky, but fake armor is a gimmick that works for me when you’re called the Valkyries. It does always amuse me in volleyball when there’s one team in sleeveless jerseys and the other team in long sleeves. Can’t think of a single other sport that has that happen.
  19. Agreed wholeheartedly on them needing to have separate logo and team colors. Pick one of the blues and one of purple/pink and I think it’d be much cleaners.
  20. I knew it would be high quality, but I was still impressed in person. It’s instantly clear you’re watching a level above college, which is awesome. I don’t think we have any section off limits currently. Lower bowls were near completely full and there were people in the upper bowls around the arena. For a playoff/championship game I think we maybe get up to 15k, especially if it’s on a weekend. The arena’s volleyball attendance record is 15.8k for Nebraska/Creighton, and I don’t think this league is at the point yet where it could surpass the two universities. I was at that NU/Creighton game and there were still some empty seats in the upper bowl, so there’s still room to grow.
  21. Went to the Supernovas game today! Another attendance record, this time a little over 11.9k. The atmosphere was great. It was a step down from a college game, but not by as much as I expected. A big part of that was that we didn’t have any team-specific cheers, which hopefully will come in due time. Level of play was also awesome. I was super impressed with the serving, you don’t really see balls bend like that in college. Merch at the arena was super basic, none of that Lawlor’s stuff was there (at least by the section I was at). The merch also didn’t do a good job of establishing our colors since we had a pretty equal mix of light blue, navy, purple, pink, and white stuff for sale. Definitely plan on going again if I have time to make it down.
