I don't watch many (well, any) Falcons games.  Do they ever open the roof during games, and even if so, does it really let a meaningful amount of light in?  Can't support a dark uniform for domed teams that don't have some kind system for letting real light in.

They do, maybe once or twice a season I think.  I do see they did it in Week 9 2023.  Below are some pics.  Definitely not as dark, but I'd say on par with Minnesota's clear roof brightness.

Come on...  Those things are clearly butterscotch.  🤣

I've been watching the uniforms to update the current lineup for each teams.  Here's the jerseys still MIA at the moment...

Boston Red (although it was worn as Spring Training) and Navy

    Tampa Bay Gradient

    Toronto Powder Blue

    Angels City Connect

    Texas City Connect

    Cubs City Connect

    Milwaukee Pinstripe and City Connect

St. Louis Cream and Powder Blue

    Atlanta Red and Navy

    Washington Pullover

    Dodgers Los Angeles Gray

San Francisco Orange and City Connect

Obviously, this early in the season there's plenty of chance some teams just haven't gotten the day to line up (usually home Friday) for them to wear their City Connect uniform and we've gotten direct word that some are delayed, but anyone heard any news on the rest of these?  And inside scoop or official word I've missed on any of these being trashed?

Rays throwbacks are in use and worn on home Fridays, and have been worn twice so far.

Alright, since I've been talking about it forever, I ran a quick & dirty mock-up of my ideal Falcons uniform with Dark Silver helmet (sans Gold):

Add a Gold outline to the helmet stripe, logo, and the Swoosh & accessory details (like on cleats) if you wanted to go that route.  Either way, this would do it.

(I wouldn't even be completely heartbroken if they added a small 1" tall "ATLANTA" above the number in a clean new non-italic font.)

Sorry, too similar to division rival Tampa Bay in a black jersey.

Phoenix is (I think) the 4th biggest media market in the country. Even if it’s a bit of a small flop, it’s still probably more successful than an enthusiastic Salt Lake City.

For clarity, Phoenix is 11th in media markets as of the 2023-2024 Nielsen media ratings, just ahead of Tampa Bay and just behind San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose

Like the logo like the one seen on this hat -- This goes 1000000x harder than that blank-ass circa 1989 default helmet they continue to recycle.

Interesting take, and in the current colors this might work.

Salt Lake City seems like a weird landing pad for the NHL. It's a pretty small market (smaller than Calgary and Edmonton from a population standpoint, although I'm sure their GDP is a fair bit higher), and it already has a significant competitor in the form of an established NBA team. Usually the NHL only goes for smaller markets when it's clearly the biggest game in town (Columbus, Raleigh, most Canadian cities).

Maybe they'll be able to make it work, but it seems odd to me that they'd choose a small, relatively crowded market as opposed to a huge city like Houston. Even a place like San Diego is significantly bigger and without direct competition (the NBA and NHL teams up the road in LA/OC don't really count).

Yes, but Salt Lake had something most of those other places may not have currently had.....an owner that was ready to move quickly.

Now the question is… where do the Kings relocate their Frozen Fury preseason game now and how long until yet another team kicks them out. First was Vegas, now (probably) SLC.  They’re moving most of the preseason to Quebec in the fall so… you’re telling me there’s a chance?

    Why not Phoenix 🤣

  8. Coyotes are native to Utah, so that could work.  I looked at a list of animals native to Utah and found some possible original options that haven't been said (not in the Big 4 leagues):

    Foxes

    Bighorns

    Pronghorns

    Jackrabbits

    Merlins (hawk family)

    Kestrels

Always thought "Coyotes" as a team name is really cool. You can abbreviate it to Yotes or Dogs, comes with a fun howl cheer the fans can do. Plus it's got good logo potential. I wouldn't mind if they kept it for Utah. The kachina logo doesn't make much sense there, but neither does Jazz.

    Theres always these....

Is there any chance we see a sort of "Washington Football Team" situation next year in Utah if this all goes through? Seems like a very rapid turnaround to rebrand the team, which sounds like a necessity due to some deals with Muruelo/Arizona, and Smith will probably want to get this right considering how the last rebrand he oversaw was received by fans.

I could really see them rolling with something like what the PWHL has this year before committing to an identity full time.

The Thrashers sale and relocation to Winnipeg was announced May 20, 2011 and they had unis ready for the following season.  The only issue I could see at hand would be the Adidas to Fanatics transition and that may cause the possible Utah team to remain the Coyotes at least in the short term.

  11. You'd have to think if the league is doing up the schedule for a possible Salt Lake relocation, then there might be a more than 50% chance of it going thru.  Lets be honest, when the Thrashers became Winnipeg, the Jets remained in the Southeast division for I think 3 seasons until the realignment.  Thankfully Salt Lake and Arizona wouldn't need major realignment, but I think that Jets relocation caught the league a little off-guard or at least unexpected.

So at this point, let's say the Vegas deal implodes after the A's make the move to Sactown....would they likely then stay in Sacramento?

I think at that point Sacramento could be an option, but you'd likely have the Salt Lake's and Nashville's of the world kicking the tires too.

Ryan Smith has just shared a survey asking people to submit name suggestions for a potential Utah NHL franchise

Among the names being mentioned in the replies, not very many catch my attention. Blizzards seems like the best option, but of course most of the people suggesting it seem to just want to use the singular 'Blizzard'.

Blizzard seems a bit to close to Avalanche (I know different phenomenon, but still adjacent).

"There have been 20 uniforms released so far, with nine more to be added during the 2024 season -- starting with the Philadelphia Phillies (April 12) and followed by the New York Mets (April 26), Tampa Bay Rays (May 3), Detroit Tigers (May 10), Cleveland Guardians (May 17), St. Louis Cardinals (May 25), Toronto Blue Jays (May 31) and Minnesota Twins (June 14). We'll also get another set this season from the Los Angeles Dodgers (June 21), which will make them the first team with two City Connect looks. After this new batch arrives, the New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics will be the only teams without one.

Here's our breakdown of the uniforms that have dropped to date. We'll continue to update the list as new City Connect unis are unveiled."

    Is this true?

Interesting as May 3 is a Friday which the Rays note as Devil Rays Day and wear the throwbacks.  Makes me wonder if they'll be themed towards the throwbacks or just worn that day and then randomly  through the year.

So, with the A's moving to Sacramento for two years... what does that do to the River Cats?

We were talking about that earlier in the thread.  Options to consider could be:

    - Remain in Sacramento and share with the A's.

    - Share a current MiLB stadium (Fresno?, Stockton?)

    - Relocate temporariliy to an unused former MiLB stadium (Lancaster?)

    - Far chance, but as Sacramento is a Giants affiliate, could Oracle Park in San Francisco be an option???

I'm sure more will come out in the coming months, but one of the above is the likely outcome.

For a union as powerful as the MLBPA, they have been very silent on the whole A's relocation.

I know when the Jays played i Buffalo during the pandemic, the Bisons were temporarily relocated to Trenton, NJ.  Not sure if that was a pandemic protocol issue or a logistical issue at the venue, but we'll see soon enough.
