  1. The crazy thing is the Cavs changing it up to wear the black sleeved jersey's for The Finals Game #5 and #7. No one saw that coming... maybe changing to the Wine "CLEVELAND" road jersey because of the losses. After they won, the amount of black "C" Championship gear available was insane! I wonder too if Cavs will phase out the blue. Black was part of their color scheme in mid 90s... when The Arena opened. Monsters always used wine and black in their jersey design, no gold. The logo was always black with the gold eye... no wine. So, they still haven't gotten the jersey and logo marriage right. Here is a link to the (3) jersey designs. (Sorry, I cannot access and post from photo sharing sights while at work) They will also have a gold alternate. They state that they will have the Blue Jacket themed alternate as well. 2. http://www.wsmv.com/story/32719721/lake-erie-monsters-change-name-get-new-uniforms I guess it's fine. It loses the identity of tying in to the urban legend of "The Lake Erie Monster". I like the uniforms.
  3. This is a great topic! I never understood why in the AFC Championship games, the home team would put the opposing teams name in the other end zone. Seattle at LA Raiders had this as well. I remember being mad because the BRONCOS did not put BROWNS in their end zone at Mile High. Quick Note- The Drive game at Cleveland had green end zones. The end zones were not painted brown. The entire field was basically painted green to look like grass. Some angles the end zones appear darker, if you notice one the close up shots at the goal line... you can see they are green. 0:39 Seconds in. And disgustingly at 8:36 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWGx_P9KPZg
  4. Browns Tweeted the uniform info for Monday. Brown Jersey, Orange pants, Brown socks.... https://twitter.com/hashtag/BALvsCLE?src=hash
  5. The Cavaliers mid-90s logo for the NETS. http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/faemq40pf86689pq4z8550l5i/Cleveland_Cavaliers/1995/Primary_Logo
  6. Instead of alerting people that modified logos were coming out (yesterday). I agree that if if the Browns' Initial twitter message could have easily stated: "Enclosed are modified logos to reflect our new colors. New uniforms to be reveled in April". Then there is not as severe as a back-lash. BUT..... Another thing that really stands out is how lazy the word-mark is. The uneven brush strokes drive me crazy! The top "bar" of the B and the R are the same "Stoke" width. Then the O and the S are wider/thicker. For me, the top of the B R O S should be the same width. As should the bottom bar of the B O S. I would also raise the space in the R to be the same as the opening of the top space in the B. How does this get through and not corrected? This is the freakin' NFL! I'm not a graphic designer... am I missing something? Is there a reason for this to be so sloppy?
  7. It seems that the placement of the Conference Logos is because of TV. I am wondering if there is a branding or marketing scheme for the NFL. When looking at the field on TV, the conference logos will be at the top of your TV screen, the team logo would be at the bottom of your screen. Other than that... i have no idea what they are doing.
  8. Assuming these renderings are fake............ http://twitter.com/hashtag/UniformPolice?src=hash
  9. If I remember correctly, all teams had a "fashion hat" with just their initials in the team font. I remember seeing DC- Dallas, PS- Pittsburgh... etc... in the team font. I had the Browns CB Hat. it was cream, with a brown bill/visor. Man, had I known then to take pictures of this stuff... Also, the end-zone font was generic as well... all teams had sweatshirts with the same script. Browns and Bears looked identical at first glance.
  10. Hmmm.. If the Seahawks wear the blue pants, maybe the endzone could be blue with green SEAHAWKS word-mark. There is just not enough green in the white on white uniforms. If they are going white on white, the blue endzone would look better with white (or gray) word-mark.
  11. Wow... that PATRIOTS is terrible. I guess they didn't have time or allow for time to do it right. When I was younger in the late '80s (before email) I wrote a letter to the Browns about how they drew the logos and lettering on the field. I got a response from the Head Groundskeeper (which I threw out... ). He mentioned a process where the lettering and designs were done on a sheet of graph paper. Each 1/4" sq represented 1 sq yard. They would then use twine (and stakes) to create a grid in the end zone in 1 yard x 1 yard blocks. They would then mark the field per 1 yard blocks using the graph paper as reference. This was only for the first time they painted the field for the season. After that they just always re-painted over the faded lettering. Soooo... getting back to the PATRIOTS end-zone in Miami, it almost looks like they skipped too many blocks when creating the spacing for PATRIOTS. The "S" is outside the yard line numbers but the "P" looks to be even with the yard line numbers.... who knows?
  12. I don't "hate" it. Maybe because ENERGY is a common word used in sports. (I don't know...) Here are Renderings of the Signage. My guess is that the "Stacked line" portion of the logo represents the glass facade outside of the Stadium structure. On the the North and South sides. http://www.cleveland...46-0521164d4510
  13. I forgot all about this too! I remember being mad that the year that Denver hosted Cleveland, both end zones were the same DENVER in one BRONCOS in the other (I think... or both were (BRONCOS). I thought Denver refused to do it or something. hated them even more! By then, I'm sure that the NFL Changed it. Did the NFC ever do it? For the Seahawks at LA Raiders in the 1983 AFC Championship...the Seahawks had a blue end-zone at the LA Coliseum.
  14. I could swear that there was a time when the Chargers had a big bolt at at the 50. It was within the past few years. Maybe it was temporary after they had the Holiday Bowl? Ugh... the Browns... again: How they adopted a generic 3D helmet as their primary logo is just LAZY and uninspiring. It's damn near the same helmet-art that the Redskins and Cowboys use in their end-zones. (Scroll Down) http://charlesbaker5...ys-stadium.html http://a4.ec-images....1ccab5234/l.jpg
  15. According to the Cavaliers' pocket schedule seating chart... the mid-court logo is now a big red "C". It's the font that used to be on the back of the collar from the C/Sword or C/Flag logo. I really don't like the mismatching uniform font and logo font...
  16. WOW... Talk about something looking slapped on... Lake Erie Monsters Cleveland The new Jerseys are fine. Nothing outrageous...
  17. I used to think the same thing. I quess it's better than when they simply alternated each year between the AL and NL. I know this isn't a "rule". I hate when umpires are allowed to have "their own" strike zone and the players have to adjust.
  18. Tribe to Announce Changes on Friday... CLEVELAND -- The Indians want to embrace a more vintage look when it comes to their uniforms, and the club plans on unveiling a few slight changes later this week. The alterations are not expected to be too drastic. "These are not dramatic changes that we've made," said Kurt Schloss, the Indians' senior director of merchandising. "It's more about consistency." Schloss declined to delve into the specific uniform changes that will be revealed on Friday, when the Indians will also be celebrating "Snopening Day," the kick-off for the club's Snow Days event at Progressive Field. Schloss would only say that the Tribe was trying to have its uniforms be consistent with other branding initiatives. Last offseason, the Indians made a handful of minor changes that continued to embrace the block "C" logo and uniform scripting that matched. The changes that will be announced on Friday are likely to be along the same lines, though Cleveland's Chief Wahoo logo is also expected to be included. Schloss said one key is trying to create consistency between the home and road uniforms, as well as with the alternate uniforms. "You could look at these uniforms and almost say that they're more vintage looking and less retail looking jerseys," Schloss said. "It's more for that authentic fan that remembers the days when jerseys were sold based on how the jersey looked, not based on the retail demand. A benefit of this look is it sort of comes back to the heritage of the organization."
  19. Pitching. Pitching. Pitching... Pitching has kept them in every game this year. I think there are only 4-5 bad starts this year. Mix that with some random clutch hitting and ballsy managerial moves. Don't get me wrong, I'm as shocked at 30-15 as anyone! I'm just going to enjoy it!
  20. "Take Me Out to the Ballpark" is kind of cool. It's basically a picture book with little quirky facts. It gets updated every few years or so. There is a web-page "Stadiums of the World" that's kind of fun. There are various web page Forums too.
  21. Can I please give you my Credit Card info AND back account info?
  22. Am I seeing this right? Are they removing the paint from the Steelers end zone? Or are they covering it?
  23. Remember Vince Carter's first game back in Toronto? I laughed hard when he was booed every time he touched the ball. It was hilarious. This will be like that but much worse because LeBron is better than Carter and because LeBron grew up near Cleveland, while Carter grew up in Florida. Exactly what I just posted right above your post. BTW, while I agree as a whole we need to give up the LeBron thing, I think it'd be really cool to do something other than constantly boo. Of course, I'm just hoping some idiot doesn't try to tackle James. Or worse. I'm really scared for tomorrow. I think it would be hilarious if the crowd had one giant collective laugh when James is announced in the starting lineup, but other than that, I don't really care what is on that list one way or the other. And why would you be scared? I think it would be fantastic to have the crowd boo as hard as they can for everyone in the starting lineup. When they announce Lebron however, SILENCE. It would be so deliciously awkward Well, if Z's starting, we'll applaud him. But yeah that's actually an idea I had at one point and I think it'd be awesome too, but it won't happen. And on the scared thing, someone's gonna do something stupid. We were the fans that did this after all... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQjaPVwmnAM "Those bottles are plastic and don't really pack much of a whallop." -Carmen Policy There will be a few a-holes in the crowd tonight that might want to "make a name fore themselves". I think it will be Insane "Booin" and "Chanting". Now, it is VERY true that if L-BJ hits a game winner at the buzzer.... the floor will be littered with debris/trash.
  24. I like the mascot. I'm all for embracing the "Cavalier" theme. The "All for One. One for All" slogan was the theme used as a "Seaon Motto" from a few years ago. They have adopted as a team motto. Quick note... we do not "hate" Sabathia. We are sick of the owners who traded 2 Cy Young award winners. Just simply signing Sabathia and Lee long term would have done wonders for the Tribe. This situation is more about the owners than the players.
  25. I really like the old logo better. The puff on the "C" logo make the "C" hard to read. The track alone looks great as the "C"... the puff distorts it. My eyes fight it. I have to disagree Gothamite, I think Altoona Curve is one of the best names in baseball. Love the play of words/tie in with a curve-ball pitch and then the famous "Horseshoe Curve"in Altoona. Horseshoe Curve
