Can I ask what font it is you used, which I assume the same one as the main wordmarks? It looks similar to the Cubs' City Connect number font, which I've been trying to find.

It's actually a font called "MLB Angels". I got it off the internet somewhere a couple of months ago. I can send it to you if you'd like!

Solid rec from @Jake3roo too, Bourbon is a great font and also close to the Angels one.

The only thing I'd change is on the away set, make the white in that hat/helmet gray so everything matches up.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. Something like this?

Man, this might be one of the most well-done concepts I've ever seen on the boards. The new color scheme looks fantastic, and the logos are all really well done. You did a great job mixing old and new elements to create the perfect look.

I appreciate the love, man! I'm very grateful for the reception to the set.

I want to push this concept a bit further. I'm going to work on some new ideas but if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

  3. The city version! Very obvious inspiration... the moon! I decided to go in the opposite direction of what the Houston Astros did with their City Connect uniform so a grey/black/red scheme was the choice.

I opted for grey as the primary colour to differentiate this kit from the rest of the set. A very faint moon pattern is layered in behind. Black text with red accents adorn the front and back, with a simple two-colour stripe pattern on the sleeves and shorts to give the uniform a bit more pop.

    C&C appreciated!

    Bro, this is pure fire!

Would you be able to make this with the red, yellow, and white color scheme?

    Ask and ye shall receive.

Also forgot to post this the other day. Red alternate + an inverted San Diego Rockets throwback because I loved the white one. Nothing crazy, just a few additional options to complete the first set.

    spacer.png

Working on a City version to add on... hopefully will have that up within the next day.

  5. Another day, another project.

The recent Rockets city uniform inspired me to overhaul their brand a bit. I've never been a fan of any of the Rockets logo combinations or uniforms, outside of a couple of throwbacks and alternates. The logos haven't necessarily been terrible, it just lacks so much for a team from Houston called the Rockets. Although their current primary is THE worst in the NBA by a wide margin (and that includes OKC).

    As for the logos...

I went in a completely different direction with the new set. I really wanted to bring an actual rocket back to the forefront because the team is called... the Rockets. Their old navy/blue/red colour scheme makes a return, although the blue has been lightened to a sky blue-esque shade. The Dunkstronaut has been promoted to an official mark of the team because of how awesome it is. I brought back the retro wordmark style, with a rocket added within the negative space of the O to provide a bit of extra identity.

    spacer.png

    The uniforms...

I went simple with the design and let the colours do most of the talking. I tried several different versions of pinstripes and side piping but it always ended up looking gaudy and unprofessional. The Dunkstronaut makes an appearance on the shorts to give the uniform set a bit more charm.

I demoted the red to an accent colour on the uniforms. I opted for navy blue to reflect a "Deep Space" vibe. The sky blue operates in the place that white normally would, including the primary colour of the road uniforms. I feel like it's light enough that it wouldn't cause any issues with other teams that use blue as a primary colour.spacer.png

    Let me know y'all think!

  6. I'm preaching to the choir saying they should've brought back the purple/teal era but these aren't terrible.

I'm glad they decided on a colour scheme but overall it's just a meh set. Not great, not horrific, just middle of the road.

The black uniform is easily my fave.

  7. Thank you for the feedback everyone! Here's another draft...

Per @Jake3roo's suggestions - reverted the number font to their classic spur lettering, and added periwinkle to the diamond.

Also good catch on the spur-less primary logos. I actually had that version done but exported the wrong one by accident, whoops! 😅

    And the uniforms...

    How are they looking?

The A is better proportioned than the logo the team currently use. That said, it really needs the Tuscan Spurs and the Halo would look better in Gold.

The Angels used a Tuscan font when they first started off in the MLB in 1961 up intill 1970, and introduced a Tuscan font in 1993, which was a year before the Rangers used a Tuscan font for the first time. The Angels have a claim to use Tuscan that is just as strong as the Rangers, probably even more so.

I don't think the script is an improvement on what the Angels currently use, which is pretty solid and only really needs the drop shadow removed, and the white outline on the road. The outline on the script could do with more space between the letters and without the drop shadow effect, and with Tuscan Spurs.

Overall, the set could be improved with a Tuscan font, no drop shadow effect and gold halos.

Thanks for the feedback! Good point on the Tuscan spurs and gold halo. Here's what an update looked like. I used the same script as the previous concept but added spurs, spaced them out more, and removed the drop shadow in favour of a solid outline.

Here's what the uniforms would look like...

  9. I've had the rebrand bug lately so I decided to take a stab at one of the lamest brands in the majors right now.

Immediately dropped the Los Angeles name and went back to Anaheim for the city name. It's just... better.

The A halo is quite strong already so I kept that piece of the design. The one major-ish change I made to the lettering was opting for a cleaner font that maintained the vibe of the current set but felt a little less Texas-y.

The wings from the short-lived Disney-era logo return in a much cleaner way. I always liked the idea of the wings, just never felt it was executed right with that iteration of the brand (also the bats were so corny).

The diamond outline behind it is a callback to this logo, which I quite liked and wish they still used a bit more.

Among the secondary marks is the A with the California outline behind it, a reference to this era of the Angels. The gold halo completes the retro look.

As for the wordmarks, nothing too drastic. A change in the lettering, as previously mentioned, with an Anaheim option finally back in the rotation.

    spacer.png

Here's how the marks look on the Angels' uniform set, with some small tweaks here and there. I brought back the two-colour cap design to separate themselves from the other red-hat-wearing teams in the major leagues.

The fourth option is just a fun throwback I tossed together, inspired by their City uniform from this past season.

Let me know what you think! I haven't done a rebrand in a minute, felt good to get the blood flowing again.

In a vacuum this is a great logo, save for perhaps the toothpaste swooshes at the bottom. The only problem with it is that it's a poor fit for any professional franchise, especially one like the Islanders. I think it's vastly overhated and isn't anywhere near the worst logo in sports.

I agree. Good logo on its own, but not fit for the Isles.

If that mark was released by a AAA baseball team or any minor-league affiliate, I think the tone towards the design would shift drastically.

This badge was eventually rejected but had it gone through - this would've been my nomination...

  11. France!

I'm going to add some shorts for the ones I've created, I'll post those in the next day or two. For now... I had France ready so might as well get it up!

I'm actually a big fan of the script they currently use on their uniforms. Bevel design is cool, but the rest of their outfit was very average. I've really liked how their soccer team has started using gold more and it suits the set nicely. The pinstripes don't come from a historic kit or anything, I just felt like they add an element of elegance to the design, which fits with the gold accents.

Quite simple and clean-looking. I wonder how do the shorts look like though. Also, maybe you can enlarge the front number a bit, but not too large like the back number.

I know that you're gonna go group-by-group here, but I'm looking forward to your design for Gilas Pilipinas.

Good call on the shorts. I started out with just uniforms but after a couple of days I’ve got the feeling that shorts just tie everything together nicer. I’ll add them going forward.

I am going group by group but not in any specific order, so I’ll get to work on a Gilas Pilipinas set this week! Thanks for the feedback.

    France up tomorrow afternoon!

    Better late than never.

The 2023 edition of the FIBA World Cup has come and gone but why not design some new uniforms? Paris 2024 is just around the corner, so think of this project as a bridge between the two.

I ended up watching a good amount of the tournament... and I wasn't too impressed by the uniforms. A majority of them weren't bad, but not good. Just meh.

I'm setting out to design a home & away version for (hopefully) every nation that competed. I'll try my best to stick with it. 🙂

    Three ground rules...

    • every country will be outfitted by Nike for the tournament
    • one home... one away... no alternates (yet)
    • despite the unrealistic nature of it, I won't be adding any sponsors or endorsements... rather focus on the actual design

    -----------------------------------

We start with my home country - Canada. This is their current home and away.

Canada's uniforms aren't bad but they lack... something.

I kept the basic theme similar but added a faint granite pattern - a reference to the massive Canadian Shield. Our country has a vast amount of nature and it remains one of the things we're most proud of. The collars and sleeves have a double stripe pattern, an obvious nod to the Canadian flag.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think! I'm going group by group so France, Latvia, or Lebanon will be next! (whichever one I finish first)

  14. Awesome project, really enjoyed everything you put together.

I've always wanted the Leafs to try out a throwback with the sleeves (excluding the horrible grey reverse retro version, just give me white and blue!) and you nailed the look with those Marlies threads.

I'd be interested to see what you'd do with soccer kits if that's something you're interested in. Premier League, La Liga, Serie A... dealer's choice.

  15. Classic set. Love the navy blue (I'm seeing a theme with some soccer inspiration, which I'm a big fan of).

White uniform is clean, retro crowns are a solid choice. Crown on the pants is a smart move, don't know if I've ever seen that before.

I think I might've dropped the white stroke on the home & away uniforms and left it with pure navy/gold, but that's just a minor, minor nitpick.

Intrigued to see what you do with Morocco and Australia.

  16. Fan of the Canadian set.

I'm on the fence with the middle stripe, but that's maybe just because my eyes are so accustomed to the arm striping for the red & white uniforms.  I do think you did it well, very clean.

Logo is a big upgrade. The classic logo will always have a special place in my heart but the modern leaf is gorgeous.

Excited for the rest of the series!

  17. Awesome series so far. Love the direction of a lot of the teams. Two notes...

Canada - I wonder what the set would look like with grey swapped out for baby blue. It might be too much on the Blue Jays theme but I always thought light blue represented the nature of the country well (snow, mountains, ice, lakes, etc.).

Japan - Beautiful set but what would the blue jersey look like with a white wordmark outlined in gold? Might read better.

I actually love the black and gold for Brooklyn. I know Utah just started using that but I think we can all agree that was a mistake. Of the second batch of logos, the bottom left (bridge in shield) would be a great partial as well as the top middle. As for the primary, try what you have with the bottom right but make the top of the bridge logo you've used be the top of the shield. That might be a good way to incorporate both the shield idea and the bridge idea into the same primary logo. I also think a slightly thicker black around the rim on the bottom right would make it stand out a little more. Try matching the thickness of the basketball seams and the rim outline. Overall really good work and all of these are better than their current "blanding"

Love the feedback! How about something like this?
