2002-03: First year of those Kings jerseys/last year of the Star 'A' Magic on jerseys

T-Mac doesn't look too happy, but I'm not too sure I'd be pleased as punch having to carry those Magic teams with Grant Hill injured either.

  2. I like the Diamondbacks rebrand, or rather, the idea of it. I've been in the camp of people who think there could stand to be one or two modern looking teams in baseball, and who else but a team that's younger then most of the prospects in your average team's pipeline?

Another team I'd love to see go modern would be the Rockies. They're still fairly new, have a color scheme that isn't all that classic, and frankly, need the shakeup.

It must be very close to introduce that, because on old nba store site (from 1996) I found this:

Maybe it's just the stripes on the jerseys looking a bit like waves to me, but I'd love this if it was a "hey we're moving into the Staples Center so let's look like we kinda care" rebrand for the Clippers in 1999, typeface and all. Just a real nautical theme to me.

  4. There we go. I know it's a throwback, but man it's weird to see a player wear another living player's jersey, especially from another team. Not wrong or anything (players are fans like us), just odd.

Also, could the equipment guys not fit "Abdul-Jabbar" on the back in the day? I know the Rockets at one point had Rudy Tomjanovich have "Rudy T."  on the back of his jersey around the same time Kareem wore that jersey. I wonder how that worked.

I was at that game! Unis looked spectacular on the court!

The same year they wore those, AI sat out of a game wearing a Kareem edition of those same jerseys (this was pre dress code. Also, it might've been against the Bucks themselves). The Post had a picture of Iverson in said Bucks jersey on the bench, and I was able to use that to convince my fellow hoop loving classmates that Iverson was traded to Brew City.

    In fact, I believe this is it (or another picture from that game): Allen Iverson: Milwaukee Buck;

  6. I've never thought of Midnight Green as pretty. I always thought it was more a grimier, grungier color (I also root for an NFC East team not named the Eagles, so maybe my choice of words is a little harsh.). For that reason, I've never seen why they needed to add black to it. Kelly Green and Black? I see it. Midnight and Kelly Green? Could be interesting. Midnight Green and Black? Too close to really work well together, IMO.

Someone, anyone, needs to use Bronze. I've been thinking the Rockies or Raptors recently for some reason.

  7. i actually like the rockets pinstriped uniforms

I've started to change my mind on them actually. I was never a big opponent of those jerseys, but my opinion of them's grown considerably, almost to where I catch myself looking at the Hakeem and Yao ones Adidas released as Hardwood Classics online often.

  8. I was reading an article on how the Reno Aces had to travel to Nashville then to Salt Lake City. The distances involved were rather much for a junior circuit, IMO, so I'm bringing back the American Association. If a team isn't in the new AA, they're in the same league as they are now.

    American Association III

    Western Division

    Iowa Cubs

    Omaha Storm Chasers

    New Orleans Zephyrs

    Round Rock Express

    Oklahoma Redhawks

    Eastern Division

    Nashville Sounds

    Louisville Bats

    Memphis Redbirds

    Buffalo Bisons

    Indianapolis Indians

The Triple-A All Star Game goes back to AL farm clubs vs. NL farm clubs. As for the playoffs, I like the AAA Championship Game, so we'll have a Championship Weekend. The AAA champion with the best record (We'll say the IL's Lehigh Valley in this scenario) gets a bye, and the other two teams (the AA's Louisville and PCL's Las Vegas) have a play-in game on Friday. Winner of the play-in game gets the Ironpigs on Sunday.

  9. I thought I heard somewhere that the Heat purposely made their numbers to look like the Lakers, and that the Magic adopted the pinstripes from the Yankees and the parquet floor from the Celtics. It's only fitting that a few years later the Heat would bring aboard the head of those Lakers teams they (supposedly) wanted to look like.

  10. I like these, and the idea behind them:

I don't see why everyone wants to ditch the red for another shade of green or two (green and red go well together, are unique, and the team has a history with them), and the idea of taking an old template and changing the colors up is a good move in my book.

  11. Florida Marlins vs. Montreal Expos, 2004

    UU41J.Em.56.jpeg

Considering where that pic was taken, that IS a rare matchup. That pic was taken at US Cellular Field in Chicago. Marks one of only two times the Marlins have played a home game outside of Miami.

    Why?

A hurricane was hitting South Florida. I think they chose Chicago because it was open, a neutral AL park, and IIRC, the Marlins had just played a series in Milwaukee, so they could get there easily.
