I'm half convinced that the refs know when a penalty is a penalty, but just simply choose not to call it to control the game. That was a delayed hit on Fields there.

Is Trevor Lawrence good? I feel like he is, but they it seems like he actually isn't.
He's no CJ Stroud, that's for sure.
Their season spiraled downwards after he got hurt. I think they had significant injuries on the defense as well, but the key one was Lawrence. He wasn't the same after that Monday Night game.

I'm trying to decide if I want Cleveland to play the Jags or the Texans. I think I'd rather they get the Jags, only because I know the Texans will be much, much harder to play with CJ Stroud than with the backups. At least the Texans line will be the same as that game. If they made the AFC Championship, that's probably the top level for them this year. I can't see Baltimore blowing a 10+ point lead in the fourth quarter this year.
Whether Lawrence is back or not, he won't be healthy. I would prefer to face Jacksonville.
I don't see anyone beating the Ravens in the playoffs. However, a lot of the their losses dating back to last year have been fourth quarter blown leads. The most likely way of them getting bounced is if they do it themselves (or if Lamar has another season impacting injury).

Well, I'm sure the ratings were great so I guess the playoff committee won there.

PISTONS WIN!
I kept seeing headlines saying they were tied for the longest losing streak for like the past three games. I don't know what was up with that, but I know by just looking it up that they are now tied for it. Weirdly expected them to end it against a winning team.

I think it looks weird seeing a sub .500 team in a postseason. Like it's going to be weird seeing the NFC South winner being under .500 for the second year in a row if its expected that going 8-9 will win the NFC South.
It's not the postseason in the light of playoffs or championships though. The bowl games are just filler games used to build up more money for programs and sponsors. At this point, we already have too many so on a competing standpoint, it's just a hollow exhibition.

The downside to the Arizona Bowl is that Barstool Sports is doing the broadcast. I've seen cable access stations do a better job. It is truly awful. Tank did the coin toss so there's that, I guess.
I went to the game while visiting relatives in the area. I was spared the broadcast, but got a plentiful of nausea from the Barstool advertising. I also got to see that dipsh!t Dave Portnoy present the fan (I think they're fans... or just Barstool employees) field goal try. Oh, and Tank was present on the big screen during a few of the promotions (the car race, hot dog memory game). Is he like their unofficial mascot?

I feel like the media/press has given exactly 0 attention to all the offseason/preseason hoopla surrounding Lamar Jackson, from betting on himself by fighting for his own guaranteed deal, all the criticism he garnered for doing all that, threatening to hold out, bulking up and adding more muscle—and now look at him/the team. AND he's still healthy. If this dude and the Ravens somehow win even the AFC let alone the Super Bowl this season, it'll be one of the biggest FU/sorta-redemption stories of all time.
And I'll be here for all of it.
(I'll also take a Detroit/Cleveland Super Bowl, as well, but we'll see how the next few weeks goes.)
As much as I hate to say it (because I've constantly tried to talk him down), Lamar Jackson is easily among the best quarterbacks. Even when the Ravens keep losing people to injuries, they just keep winning! They don't have the most talented offense in the league either, but Lamar Jackson has the ability to make things happen for them on nearly every play. It hasn't been easy for me to appreciate the kind of player he is because he doesn't post the most flashy stats and numbers. Maybe it's because I started watching football when pocket passers were so prevalent, with their high yardage and touchdown stats (Manning, Brady, Brees, etc.). That's what the quarterback position was to me.
Given the state of the AFC, this is Lamar Jackson's best shot at a Super Bowl. While I'm still not rooting for him because my team is also competing, I'm not going to throw a fit if he gets it done.

I think if the Ravens manage to get to the Super Bowl, they win outright. Their just a bad matchup for the entire NFC.

The Dolphins beat the NFC version of the Dolphins. I'm not sure we learned anything new about either team here.
We didn't. The point was just about getting a win against an above .500 team. I don't care who it was. It is what it is.
-
A win against a winning team! Finally. Maybe critics can shut up about it now.
SpoilerThey'll still find other reasons to knock the Dolphins, but this takes away one of those reasons.

For all the MLB's flaws, they just had a Diamondbacks/Rangers World Series a couple months ago, capping off a wild postseason where all the 100-win teams combined to win exactly one playoff game and got eliminated early. Something like that is borderline impossible in European soccer or CFB, but playoff baseball is a great equalizer that produces all sorts of unexpected matchups.
The postseason has definitely been random. I was referring more to the regular season if anything. How teams like the Dodgers who have had a large stretch of 90+ wins a season or the Yankees who haven't even had a losing season since 1992(!). If you are a fan of the Royals or Pirates of the world, you're just hoping for a winning season or a taste of relevancy. With the former, you have something to look forward to, the latter... not so much.

Seems like spending a billion dollars on two players isn't so great for baseball. I don't know.
MLB is literally the closest thing we have here to European soccer. While it takes more than just being a destination team to effectively target the big names, it really does do wonders for the players themselves. It's like deciding if you want to play in perfect-weather SoCal where you will make a name for yourself, or go to Pittsburgh where you have less spotlight and have other limitations.
It really does suck if your team isn't attractive or loaded with money, but I've accepted that as the norm when it comes to this league. But hey! At least the players are winning, right?

The Seahawks have beaten the Eagles eight-straight times. Their last loss was well over a decade ago.
Pete Carroll owns Philadelphia.

The Bills are terrifying. There is a great chance they win their next two, Miami loses their next two, and Buffalo clamps the Dolphins on the last week to take the division.

What's your favorite Brandon Staley moment? Blowing a 27-0 lead to the Jaguars in the playoffs is good, but it lacks that one dumb guy pretending to be a smart guy move that became his signature. Mine's when the Raiders seemed content to run out the clock for the tie and they both would've made the playoffs, but Staley called a timeout so the Raiders said "Alright fine" and then got 15 yards on a draw and won on a field goal.
Yes. That was when nearly the whole country was rooting for a tie just to keep the Steelers out of the playoffs. Probably one of those sports moments where all fans, rivals or not, united for one cause. Shame on Staley for spoiling that.

And I thought the Broncos-Dolphins game was the clear-cut blowout of the year. This one might be over 50!
Edit: Just missed the mark.

So does Washington DC have the money to keep the Nats and Caps and also bring the Commanders back?
The Commanders are in Landover, Maryland. Given that their team facilities and headquarters are in Northern VA, it makes much more sense for them to move than for the Capitals and Wizards.
-
The only convenience I see about Alexandria is that it gets the players in and out through Reagan quicker. The Downtown arena provides an arguably equal travel distance for those in Maryland and Virginia, but moreso for DC residents. I don't know where most of Capitals and Wizards fans are within the DMV (despite being a resident of the area myself), but it would be a big disservice to the Maryland population north/east of the city. The Beltway sucks. You can't make them take the Beltway.

Congrats to the Bills. Hopefully Josh Allen's stupidity doesn't cost them any playoff wins.
I think that's it for Miami. The Chiefs are already hard enough, but if they come out of that, they likely play at Baltimore again. No thanks.
