The top photo is the Patriots' pre-2000, big-logo-on-shoulder set, while the Falcons' red-heavy road look and the presence of Jamal Anderson in the photo indicate that it was taken during the Dan Reeves era, perhaps during Atlanta's Super Bowl season of 1998. The presence of Tom Brady and Keith Brooking in the bottom photo tells me it's from 2001 or 2002. I'd only consider the bottom to be the "modernized" Patriots, as, while the logo and helmet are essentially the same, the uniform design is a lot different from the 1990s design. Also, holy cow was Jamal Anderson a beast.EDIT: I just realized that the two photos had two different descriptions. Sorry for correcting you on something you got right in the first place! The Pats-Falcons one is from 2001.The bottom one is from 2001. The top (Falcons with red numbers) is from Atlanta's 41-10 pounding of the Pats in Foxboro in 1998. That's a pretty kick-ass match up. Most definitely. I don't think the Falcons have ever in their history looked better than they did from 1997-2002.

Good catch! I remember that about '08. I would occasionally be the Titans and be ticked off that I could wear the light blue jersey only with the dark blue pants.

Scratch anything involving the 2000-and-later Patriots and 2002 Bills, and go back to 1995 so we can get some shots of the Orange Crush Broncos and the pre-"midnight green" Eagles, and you have my vote.

When the Jaguars actually had a good uniform set! I still remember watching that game. I was ticked off that the Broncos lost and then stunned the following preseason to see them in their new getup. That look was one of the best in NFL history. The Jags' look right there was fantastic too. The Giants player making the tackle there is Phillippi Sparks, father of American Idol winner Jordin Sparks. The more you know...

I've said it before, but I love this uniform. OFF TOPIC: I just realized this, but these uniforms were the baseball equivalent of the 1996-2000s Utah Jazz. Almost the exact same colors, in almost the exact same order of emphasis (purple, black, teal, copper for D-backs; purple, black, copper, teal for Jazz). It's a good "desert"-style color scheme, I'll admit. -
If I recall correctly, don't they have a helmet that's red-white-and-blue? Is that just a secondary thing? I thought blue was their accent color for football.

See, I think those are more about the limitations of the systems. The Red Sox were red and blue, so they couldn't have another team also be red and blue, since they couldn't show logos or pinstripes (not that either team had them) or anything like that. Also: I was wrong about Mizzou being green in NCAA Basketball for SNES---they wore white and home and dark metallic gold on the road, which is probably pretty accurate. Idk about MLB 15 The Show (b/c I don't have it), but 14 The Show had a lot of bizarre inaccuracies. For example, the game gave the Rockies' vest alternates purple sleeves.- Brewers BiG alts aren't in the game. - Astros orange hats are MIA. There's also the inability to select uniforms in Road to the Show. 1. Rockies' vests with purple sleeves would be sweet.2. Lack of Brewers' ball-in-glove alts would keep me from wanting to play as or against the Brewers at all. 3. Lack of Astros' orange hats is awful! 4. Inability to select uniforms is bad, although if it's just for a player career mode I can understand that---I don't think Madden allows players to select their uniforms when they're doing that mode either. - The game has the last version of the BiG but not what the Brewers wear now. Weird. - The Astros' early 80s orange hats are in the game. I guess the difference is negligible between that and today. Something I forgot to mention is that anniversary patches stay on throughout franchise and Road to the Show modes. Kind of bugs me. Anniversary patches stay on in multiple seasons? That would be absolutely maddening to me, worse than anything else mentioned thus far.

The piping was fixed in a patch last year. And the helmet logo was moved higher up the shell (it was way too low in these screenshots). But pretty embarrassing nonetheless. The jerseys in reality should have none of that striping at all! Amen!

Yes, Seattle was pink. I don't know if it had anything to do with not being NFL licensed. Yes, they were, but I think that (plus the use of pink for the Patriots' main color and the Bills' secondary color in Tecmo Super Bowl) was more a function of limitations with 8-bit games and their limited graphics. In the original Tecmo Bowl, the Seahawks' actual colors (blue and grey/silver) were already in use by Dallas. The Cowboys' blue was of course darker than that of the Seahawks at that time, but still, blue and grey versus blue and grey would've been very confusing to the players. Plus I think there were some limitations to how many colors they could accurately portray---the earliest game I ever saw where the Browns wore brown, for example, was Super Play Action Football for the SNES---in the first two Tecmo games, they wore white jerseys over orange pants.

When I was in my early teens, my parents bought me NCAA Football 98 for the computer. I really enjoyed the game, and it was very well-designed for the most part: 100+ schools; full-season play with rankings, major bowl games, and major awards; school fight songs; decent playbooks; something approximating logos on the helmets. It was a very good game for the late 1990s---not as good as the Football Pro series overall, but distinctly collegiate and lots of fun. Anyway, despite the overall quality, there were two details that I have since learned were wrong. One, LSU by default wears yellow jerseys over white pants at home in that game. Two, Missouri's colors are green and gold in the game instead of black and gold. (Come to think of it, I think the latter was also the case in that college hoops game for the Super Nintendo even earlier.) I was wondering: have you guys and gals noticed any similar errors in other games? (Incidentally, Football Pro 98 has the Eagles wearing kelly-green-and-gray even though they were in their second season with their current and inferior color scheme.)

The Rams haven't worn the horn stripes on their primary jerseys since the 1999-2000 season. Unfortunately. I loved the Rams' old uniforms. If they'd gone yellow-over-white at home (the inverse of their terrific white-over-yellow on the road), they'd have been perfect. Whatever they do next year, I hope they bring back the horns on their jerseys, even if they have to be on the shoulders. Now, switching gears... I like the Atlanta Hawks' "volt green" color. I wish they'd make a glow-in-the-dark volt-green uniform and use it at home full-time, or at least alternate it with the white. (No mix-and-match with the volt green though. Pants and jerseys both, or neither. They should stop the mix-and-match, period.)

Wait... what? Maybe you meant to post the version of the Dolphins unis that came right before the Oilers move to Tennessee, but these uniforms were in circulation together for quite some time. Using pro-football-reference, I was able to date this photo to November 17, 1996. Karim Abdul-Jabbar is the ballcarrier, and James Roberson is the defensive lineman on the ground.I thought this was a joke at first. I looked it up and much to my surprise it is not.Yeah, you don't remember Karim?! Granted, he was no Kareem...

A bit off-topic, but I always thought that Chargers set was a bit underrated. The one they have now is better (especially the logo/helmet), but I think the 1988-2006 set was better than the one that it followed. Yes and no. You're right that set was underrated. It was incredible. But the current set is an atrocious mash-up of crap, worse than its predecessor in every way. See, I think the Chargers' current logo is incredible. I love the incorporation of powder blue into their color scheme even when they're not wearing that color jersey. I'm not fond of the jersey template or the pants template. I like that they still have the bolts on both the jerseys and the pants, although the sleeve-ish bolts don't look nearly as good as the huge shoulder bolts that they wore before. I just think the uniform template is too mid-2000s bland and safe and generic. Plus, while their white helmet looks good on its own, it doesn't fit nearly as well with their unis as a navy blue one would. They should add a yellow or white outline outside the navy blue one on the very outside part of the logo, and stick it on a navy helmet. Then they'd look pretty good, I think. I'm generally not fond of dark-blue-and-bright-yellow color schemes without any other supporting colors, because they make me think of That School Up North. I liked it in the Chargers' case for some reason, but I like their overall color scheme better with the addition of the powder blue. Sorry for posting this on the wrong board. lol A bit off-topic, but I always thought that Chargers set was a bit underrated.
