  1. Here goes for my concept debut. For those who don't know, USA Today has tracked the top 25 high school football teams in the nation for a little more than 30 years. Because there are already so many Pro and NCAA helmets out there, I thought it would be interesting to start my work out on an area left fairly untouched. While creating the templates, I've realized that HS Football has changed dramatically since I played: private academies and charter schools are concentrating talent, with private schools in particular spending significant money on athletic programs. Half of the schools wore multiple helmets last season (40 helmets across 25 schools, to be exact). A few quick shout-outs to: - Darth Brooks: for his initial pass at a Riddell Speedflex template and willingness to coach on design and the craft of building a template. While my template is self-made, I did use his template as a separate benchmark to understand how to build templates. - bkknight95: for how he packaged and rolled out his NFL 2020 work. I thought it was a creative means to roll-out design, so I've borrowed from the format. - Fraser Davidson: the godfather of concept helmets. On to the work ... I will post five(ish) schools a day, beginning with the 25th ranked school. C&C welcome.
  2. Yes, absolutely. That was intended to read: 3) Manners never hurt.
  3. HelmetConcepts is another one who uses Darth Brooks' template without credit, I believe. He also charges for designs using NFL players. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume he doesn't have NFLPA approval.
  4. Here's an interesting fact about Lions ownership: as a young Firestone living in Ohio, Mrs. Ford actually watched the Portsmouth Spartans play live. Amazing.
  5. Happy holidays to you as well!Lots of things I like: 1) No more black trim. Didn't look good on Michigan State in the 90s. Didnt look good on the Lions. Ugh. Let's pretend his never happened. 2) I'm surprised how much I like the white pants. 3) Helmet stripes: another thing that didn't make sense. I like that it's back to wide w/ two narrow. Some constructive criticism: 1) Numbers: back are too large (when tucked, would make jersey look like its a size or two too big). Also, I I like the simpler single outline to the double outline you've used. 2) Fauxbacks: My hunch is that the Lions throwbacks stopped at William Clay Ford's first year because he hates what he saw in the 50s. I like the idea of the Blue helmet with gray facemask (because it was legit in the 40s). But I like the idea of giving a bid back to the 1935 team (first NFL championship) and do a faux-leather design (akin to what A&M did recently). I also like the nod back to the Spartans, but the vertical stripes on shoulders have never been my thing. I'd either recommend the wider chevron stripe design (akin to the Bears in '94, which other Spartans worein the same year you referenced), or do the route of silver numbers on blue jerseys. 3) Pants: I like the consistency of the stripes on silver pants to match silver helmet, but think swapping silver/blue on the white pants may provide some more silver. My $0.02. A lot of really good work here. PS - interestingly enough, the Lions played for a season in the late 40s in primarily scarlet and black uniforms.
  6. A few quick things: 1) Thanks to those who pinned this. Much easier to find pre-existing discussion. 2) Threads like this really separate people like Darth Brooks (and others) from other veteran posters. Manners never hurt. :-) 3) Even with pinned topics and search function, there can still be a lot to sift through. Sometimes the new guys need a little benefit of the doubt. Three strike system? 4) I realize know that I asked in "Requests" whether anyone had attempted a championship ring template. I've been working on one as well but wasn't sure whether a) anyone was interested in using it on their own, and whether this is is a moot point because someone like Fraser Davidson has built the end-all be-all already.
  7. His name was "rezland" but his user name was cancelled or something. Here are links to some of his .PSD templates on DeviantArt....http://rezland.deviantart.com/art/Nike-Pro-Combat-Template-4-168700768 http://rezland.deviantart.com/art/Revolution-Speed-Template-280301179 http://rezland.deviantart.com/art/V2-Revolution-Helmet-2-180349455 http://rezland.deviantart.com/art/Nike-Pro-Combat-Template-146627819 http://rezland.deviantart.com/art/Nike-Pro-Combat-Template-5-192148057 http://rezland.deviantart.com/art/Basketball-Template-183286425 His page is gone, if somebody any of these templates can you share them?? -thanks in advance Would anyone have suggestions on how to remove/suppress the chinstrap? I use GIMP, so not sure if this is a function lost during conversion. IMO, I prefer helmet usage without the chinstrap.
  8. The profile template for PS is here: http://rezland.deviantart.com/art/V2-Revolution-Helmet-2-180349455
  9. Late to the thread, but thanks to Fraser and DJRay1985 for their templates in PSD and GIMP, respectively. Here some helmets I've created for my FFB team - trying to work through a custom pattern to match Oregon's Carbon Fiber. Will post once I've figured out: Home helmet: Away helmet: Blackout helmet: Alternate helmet: Carbon helmet: Championship Gold helmet: ps - I think I confused the hell out of Fraser by adding him to my kayfabe Twitter feed. Just wanted to give proper credit on the template: https://twitter.com/springboksfc/status/520282160314716160
