  1. starting to remind me of a fantasy hockey league where gms/owners leave, league can't find replacements and teams end up under league control.
  2. one of many milbury trades that pissed me off. Kvasha and Parrish was nowhere near worth getting to give up Jokinen and Luongo. Had they kept Luongo then they wouldn't have had a need to draft DiPietro.
  3. no thats the right uniform for him. he was a favorite of mine through out the years, especially during his islanders run.
  4. Sure, the weakest franchise that nobody wants to own stays put... why is it the NHL is reminding me more and more of a fantasy hockey league where the commish is the owner/gm of a team because it keeps going through owners that sign up and leave.
  5. i remember when he was traded from dallas to calgary for Nieuwendyk and probably some other players i've long since forgotten about.
  6. Maybe its me getting ahead of myself... dallas unlike Atlanta and Phoenix draws when they are good. Dallas isn't drawing right now because A)Mavs just won the NBA championship, B)Rangers are in the World Series, C)they have no star power with Modano gone and D)They are in a rebuilding phase. Once the stars start becoming good again they will draw. This isn't Phoenix where BgMac is the only one that shows up for a playoff game, This isn't tampa where 5 fans show up for a Tampa Rays baseball game. Having Atlanta, eventually Phoenix, Florida and Dallas moving will be an admission of failure that hockey is a failure in the south and will make Bettman look like the worst commish ever. Stop defending the Sun belt teams, Toronto have been in a rebuilding phase since 1967! But hey they still draw a sell out crowd. number 1) I could care less about the sunbelt teams. Just leave the Isles alone. (they too could be on the move as well) Number 2) Toronto is hockey central. Dallas/Fort Worth is football central. big difference. Toronto should draw a sell out crowd ona nightly basis irregardless of the team product. Dallas/fort worth is a fair weather town where who ever not named the cowboys are winning get the attention.

  8. Yeah I think 11,000 is what they expect to get and just make a estimation, instead of really counting numbers. Another attendance worry is in Dallas, where they are averaging just 9,000 a game. Same in Columbus too Tends to happen when you miss the playoffs for the last three years and the excitement has shifted to a NBA champions Mavericks, and a Rangers team that's made two strait World Series appearances.
  9. when did he play for the giants? i don't seem to recall his stint with the giants. Not sure if you are being serious, but he did win his 300th game as a Giant. quite serious. i honestly don't follow baseball all that much so that pic of him in a giants jersey caught me off guard. and no i didn't know he won his 300th game as a giant.
  10. when did he play for the giants? i don't seem to recall his stint with the giants.
  11. As much as you'd like to forget, he did infact play for San Jose. 3 wins in 13 games. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=295 http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/belfoed01.html http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8445386 edit: that hockey card of Belfour actually looks shopped. The stick in the logo is teal. o.O then after his stint with SJ he bolted for Dallas. Causing all sorts of butt hurt for the sharks fans for many years.
  12. I should have been more clear in my screed. I'm left of center myself - hell, my wife framed the front page when Obama was elected and we proudly have it on display on the wall in our living room. But there's liberal, and then there's Seattle liberal, which has fully embraced the Sounders. It has very little to do with politics, really (maybe you have to live here a while to fully understand). They are the people who insist on bringing their obnoxious dogs to the bars, people who proudly tell you they don't support organized sports outside of soccer (and some of them even insist on calling it football). Seattle liberals are notoriously passive-aggressive and self-absorbed. (for the curious, I'm sure you can find the "ask a Seattle Liberal" column from our alt. newspaper somewhere online). It is the same qualities which have ensured that my favorite pizza restaurant now offers a gluten-free menu (have you tasted gluten-free pizza? It tastes like sadness boiled in the tears of unhappy children). It is these qualities which would ensure a lack of support for the NHL in Seattle, rather than political ones. Don't get me wrong - I love Seattle. I don't think I can live happily in any other city on earth. I've spent 26 of my 34 years living here. I can live with the Seattle liberals. But I don't think the NHL can. those are just political trolls. like the political trolls that follow that radio nut out in San Fran that makes tank look like a far left liberal.
  13. To me salo never looked right in an avs or oilers jersey. there again he had no business being in an Isles uniform to begin with even though i remember him most in an Isles uniform. Him and Soderstrom Didn't Milbury reduce him to tears when he was with the Islanders? something like that. don't remember the whole story though.

  15. it was really weird seeing Montana in a Chiefs uniform after all the years in San Francisco.
  16. i loved guy charbonneau as a player. Very underrated player on that Dallas Stars team. Was there any reason the Blues didn't want him? Seems like the type of player you would want on your team.
  17. ehh. i tend to get visits from the grammar nazi alot. lol. ive always thought quotations were apostrophes. I just guess a force of habbit? Habit, not to be confused with Hobbit That's not a Hobbit. This is a Hobbit. no thats a dwarf. This is Hobbit.
  18. no that thats the right jersey. He was one of my favorites over the years. i know he was an eagle for so many years, who cares, i loved him as a player.
  19. i'm fairly sure they are quite unpopular but i completely agree with your post here.
  20. with this pic: this thread is now pics of ugly uniforms and logos.
  21. this would make for a great Portland Pirates logo. granted you would need to edit out the buccaneers and the tb on the hat and substitute it with Pirates for the wordmark and P on the hat.
