  1. New Brentford third released today as well; slated to wear them Sunday against Fulham in their exhibition match in Philadelphia:
  2. Brentford have released their 2023-2025 home kit. I like that they added back some black, but it's not my favorite look of theirs of all time. Gradient is whatever, I think you can get away with it a *bit* more in soccer than (American) football, and it should just fade into the black shorts, but I dislike the slapped on black on the arms of the kit.
  3. I didn't think I'd like this helmet, but I really like it. I just wish it didn't have to be paired with the gray monstrosity the Lions deploy as their third uniform.
  4. Overall, as a Flyers, fan, I think they're a solid B+. I kind of liked the more vibrant orange and thought their last look was good, but the darker shade is fine by me and maybe a little easier on the eyes. I like they kept the nameplates; I know it's controversial in the uni-sphere, but I enjoy the quirk. I like they dropped the black outline from the yoke; flows better. I take off points for the ad; first off, the blue contrasts, secondly, it's an ad, and lastly, it's pretty obvious form of nepotism; IBX is the Flyers new CEO's former company. The third staying is whatever; I didn't expect a new third, and I expect this third to be dropped next season. Generally speaking, a solid uniform. The Flyers will look like the Flyers, and the biggest gripe for me is the ad...but that was always likely going to be my biggest gripe once thy added one.
  5. And....there's the disgusting uniform ad, which, is blue.
  6. New uniform reveal for the Flyers. A bit hard to see but shown around the 1:45 mark. I'm sure they'll post images soon.
  7. They're not "bad" because there's nothing there. It's just a monochrome set with a number. These...exist.
  8. Part of me will be really bummed if they come out with clean looking uniforms similar to their current look, just with no piping/stupid striping because this had such a "trainwreck you can't look away from" vibes. But the other part will be really happy a classic team has a classic look again.
  9. Maybe they didn't know the code. (The code, of course, is 1, 2, 3, 4)
  10. Watching this preview just makes me wonder even more "how did these people keep this uniform under wraps this well?"
  11. Ah duh! It was Hagerstown, not High Point. Whoops. Got the stuff flubbed up.
  12. Actually the Genomes are no more. They were only stopping through; they were always moving to High Point, they just didn't have a home until 2023, so they became the "Genomes" for a season. So all Lexington has now are the Counter Clockers. God, that's a mouthful. Counter Clockers does not roll off the tongue.
  13. Entirely. I thought, when I saw the twitter post (there had been literally zero indication they were rebranding) that it was one of those "whacky, one weekend names". The initial reaction here is...poor, to say the least. And it's not even like the Legends was a specifically good brand/name, but this is just...bad haha.
  14. The Lexington Legends today rebranded to the "Lexington Counter Clocks". https://twitter.com/LexingtonLegend/status/1632765237534261250?s=20 As a native, this is pretty out of the blue. A new firm had recently purchased the team (who had been struggling), and they ran a "fan forum", essentially asking for input from the city as to what could be fixed...etc. I'm not sure anyone really asked for this however and this was pretty...unexpected. Wild how it came out of straight left field.
  15. I never hated the checkerboard look, but I think it's gone from the UK aesthetic for a while (maybe for good). I think on it's own it's a good look, but I understand the idea that the checkerboard is also a UT thing, who happens to be one of the larger UK rivals making it wonky. The Power K definitely looks like BYU-East now that you mention it, though. I won't be mad with a little more simple look coming out of this rebrand though. I think the basketball team looks better without the racing stripe checkerboards and I think the football team can put forth a really classy look, especially if they dump the chrome. In theory the black set might be acceptable if left to a single game, and paired with an all black look for a "special" night game (I won't love it, but there's no fighting it's coming, either), but sadly I know they'll go something bad like Black-Blue-Blue once or twice a year, too.
  16. Kentucky looks to be consolidating their looks. They dumped the checkerboard on the basketball uniforms this year and looks to be doing the same with the football uniforms. The striping pattern on the pants looks reminiscent of the stripes on the new basketball as well. With that said, the basketball team has done two things this year that makes me wonder if we'll see similar: 1. They've leaned heavily into some retro uniforms. Could UK bring back the Power K throw backs to, say, the Tim Couch era? 2. They also brought out black uniforms. Expect the football team to do the same. As a UK fan, I also expect a chrome dome somewhere. I don't like it (I hate them) but they've got a lot of "lore" around them being worn in the Citrus Bowl twice in 5 years, and being apart of some of the bigger wins so I cannot imagine they'll dump them fully. They're the "big game look"...I doubt they'll be gone. At the very least I hope they go away from the gray chrome to a blue chrome; it's not a great look still, but it'll beat the silver/white combo they have been keen on.
  17. We are always prone to overreaction on day 1, but this does feel like the worst uniform "set" in all of football right now due to the complete and utter lack of cohesion. Some of this is subjective; if you told me you hated the Titans or the Cardinals or the Rams, etc look more than this I'd understand that there are aspects of those uniforms that are just horribad (the Titans cartoonish swords, or the Cardinals piping atrocity), but each of their sets has some version of cohesion to it; the Titans have goofy ass swords, but hey, they're dark blue, columbia blue and white on each set, with those goofy ass swords. Sure, the Cardinals have random piping everywhere, but they're the same colors. Conversely, the Commanders are a gold and burgundy team at home, they're a black and burgundy team on the road. and sometimes they're a black and gold team, but without the helmet being the loosest of ties between two of those looks, the team seemingly has zero actual identity. I have to mark that as the worst set right now, because it's not a set. And as much as we can be prone to that initial shock/overreaction of a new look/name, I think the idea that this is the worst set will probably be an enduring aspect until they ditch the random looks and pick an aesthetic (I bet in...looks at clock....5 years from today or round about that).
  18. This uniform "set" (with how disjointed each feels, it's hardly a set, but I'm feeling generous) feels like something you'd see out of a movie. I feel it belongs in the Any Given Sunday universe, where you have the Dallas Knights with a big cross as the front of a uniform (specifically the black helmet with the dumb W on the front). (I lied in my previous post. Apparently not completely speechless)
  19. Oh. Wow. I really...I'm speechless. And not in the "I'm so impressed I can't put this into words at how well of a job they did" kind of way.
  20. Oh don't feel bad! Trust me, this giant, fairly stupid looking water tower wasn't even on my radar before moving to Lexington 15 years ago. I remember seeing it the first time the drive up to Cincinnati and in some mix of shock, awe, horror, came out an uncontrollable laughter of "Wait...what the **** is that thing?!" Now it's like a cute/funny thing I can tell people who don't live here, or are new. Glad to see the team use it as a connection. It's a great name for a local team dredging up local support. It's a terrible name for national fans because it sounds dumb as hell and like they're trying to be the Redneck Yankees.
  21. Name makes perfect sense locally. Florence has a giant watertower that says FLORENCE Y'ALL. Why you ask? Well, it was originally for the mall it's located next to. But, because they can't advertise for the mall on the watertower, so they switched the M to a Y and...well...now they have a giant water tower that says FLORENCE Y'ALL. It's truthfully a pretty silly looking water tower. It's big. It's red. It's striped. It says...FLORENCE...Y'ALL. But it's undoubtedly Florence. It's a land marker. The name sounds silly for anyone not in the region (I've driven past it probably 50 times from Lexington). But it makes sense for the team who plays directly across the mall and the water tower. It's what Florence is colloquially known for. It makes it solid for a Frontier League team. It'd never work as a national team (evidenced by the questions on it. No offense either, I didn't know about this semi-monstrosity before I moved to KY), but it doesn't need to here.
  22. So...part of me says "What is this powder blue thing at home? Don't these teams know this was a road uniform?" But I'll be honest...powder blue is a personal favorite color of mine, and I'm willing to ignore that because of my own biases. Being from Lexington and just a short roll down, and knowing where the name "Y'all" comes from...I actually really like these. They're easy on the eyes, the hats are nice, fairly clean.... For a Frontier League team...i'm a fan. They're not perfect or anything. But considering where they're situated in terms of professional baseball...they're solid.
