  1. I must ask, is this something Tampa fans would want? I'm not sure what to make of this lol, but it would present a creative challenge to take this on for a city uniform for the Lightning. Definitely something I could try to work into the uniform set for Tampa Bay
  2. This is the first case I have gone back to implement changes based on a comment so far this series. Mostly because I messed up bad on that piano pattern lol. I completely forgot to make it look like an actual piano, so I fixed that. That was the plan, to make it look like a piano, I just work too fast sometimes. I also added in the 6 stripe idea, that does make a lot more sense. Thanks for pointing these things out!
  3. That would be for the city uniform, most of my city uniforms have been a little out of the box, but that's kind of what I'm going for. Something that represents the city, but doesn't really fit into the mould of the typical NHL uniform. The fact it looks ECHL kinda of falls into what I'm going for haha. It would be like what the NBA does with their city uniforms. A one season thing, and they can get crazy.
  4. Nashville Predators I haven't received much for comments with the last few teams, but I'd really love to hear about Nashville, I think it's one of my favourites. Not because I did some crazy new striping, but because of how the new primary logo turned out. I used the shoulder logo from the Preds Winter Classic uniform and updated it, added some white, some details from the current primary. I think the current Preds logo is fine, but once I saw that shoulder logo, I just loved that one more. I didn't really change the striping but I made it feel like there's more blue. I made the helmets blue like they should be. I think this new logo option just fits better. I'm biased but I love how this looks. For the alternate I went with the obvious guitar pick logo and the 5 lines across for the music aspect. I think that pretty much describes that. The city jersey was easy and hard at the same time. Because I used a music aspect for the alternate, I didn't want to just copy it. I brought the piano keys to the waist, and altered the guitar pick logo to look like the neon lights down Broadway. I did a similar thing for the numbers. This has been my favourite team so far, but there is even better teams coming up, so stay tuned! And C&C is very much appreciated. (Updated the alternate and city. 6 stripes added for the alternate and the keys pattern was updated to look like the actual piano)
  5. Montreal Canadiens Montreal is another team with a solid home uniform and an away that I wished matched the home. So that is exactly what I've done. Now it's not all that creative because I think the Habs wore that version of a uniform at one point in the last 20 years, but I think it brings the set together better. Fits more into my Ideal NHL look. For the alternate, I could've taken the super easy route and just went with the reverse retro design. And before the RR uniforms came out, I would've done that, but I wanted it to be different. So I've gone with a mixture of a retro and modern uniform. The logo is one of their classic logos, and specifically not the logo that makes them look like the Leafs. They paired this logo with a sash across the uniform, but that's a little too bold for me, so I went with the subtle sash across the front of the uniform, with some striping on the arms and waist. I think it still feels like the Habs, even with it being very different from any other uniform they've worn. The city uniform is once again based on the flag, the arm striping comes straight from it. I had to include the fleur de lis, and maybe it's too close to the Nordiques, which I did notice, but oh well. The Habs are Quebec's team, and the Nordiques don't exist currently, so it stays. The logo combines a version of the Montreal C, with the logo of Montreal. C&C is always appreciated!
  6. Minnesota Wild Not too much change for the home and road for Minnesota. The home stays the same, and the road now matches the home. I don't know if the NHL allows a non-white road jersey, but it's my ideal NHL, so they do now haha. I also created a new shoulder logo for them as well. I think the Wild might have one of the best logos in the NHL and this is coming from a Jets fan. The alternate and city jersey both take ideas from the recent Winter Classic uniform. Mainly just the logo. The alternate features the MN state outline logo, as well as the striping pattern from the reverse retro/north stars uniform, but in current Minnesota colours. The city uniform uses the state of hockey logo that was worn on the pants at the Winter Classic. I made the base colour blue because Minnesota is known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The jersey striping is based on the Minneapolis Millers uniforms from 1932 that I found on a Minnesota hockey history website. I also changed the red to light blue on the shoulder Wild logo.
  7. Thank you! I added the red on the alternate just so the numbers would be easier to read. It stands out a bit more than the gold or white would on the horizontal striping.
  8. Los Angeles Kings The LA Kings. I think I went with what probably most people wish the Kings would do. Bringing back the purple and gold. I think they call it forum blue, which I don't fully understand, it's purple. Anyway, I went with a classic logo, but modernized it. A new crown logo, the updated Kings word mark, and a cleaner san serif font for the Los Angeles. The LA from the stadium series uniform becomes the new shoulder logo. I think this works perfectly as a blend behind the past and the future. For the alternate, I returned to their current black, silver, and white look. I think it's a clean look, it's just a little bland for a full time home and road set for me. But as an alternate, it works. It features the new crown logo, and some textured shiny silver striping. It's essentially the current home uniform without the out of place piping down the arms and shoulders. I'm sure everyone first saw the City uniform. It stands out quite a bit. So let me break down some of my design choices here. The layout comes from the stadium series uniform, and the colours represent the beach, which LA is known for. From what I've heard at least haha. I also didn't want every city uniform to be based on a flag, and maybe for some to be a little more out there. The white outline on the shoulder yoke symbolizes a halo, to coincide with LA's nickname, the City of Angels. It's a bit more out there for a city uniform, but out there is sometimes what I'm going for.
  9. Florida Panthers I loved the new logos that Florida released with their newest redesign. Particularly the shoulder/arm logo, and the leaping cat logo. Not so much the shield logo. So in my ideal world, the leaping cat becomes the primary. I also loved the reverse retro the Panthers wore last season, it was one of my favourites in the league. The home and road are based on the reverse retro, but I kept the red for the home base colour. I've seen an alternate uniform similar to this in the past, and I loved the originality of it. I'm not sure who's design I first saw use the horizontal stripe panther logo, but I definitely took inspiration from that. Red for the numbers so they'll pop on the uniform. And the city uniform. Seems like the pink/blue combo is something often thought up for teams in Florida. And the Panthers playing close to Miami, it is what I decided to go with. Mostly for the sunset vibe, as I've done with a few teams already. I maybe didn't go as neon as the Miami vice uniforms the Heat wear, but maybe that's for the best. The flag inspired Panthers logo was a no brainer to use for the city uniform.
  10. This is a uniform I knew about, just didn't think about when I was designing that uniform apparently haha. But once again, I've stumbled into a uniform that works as a throwback and city uniform in one. Hopefully I can do that a couple more times in this series.
  11. My counter point would be that I based them off of the reverse retro Flames uniform. It is almost 100% the same uniform as the reverse retro. I also won't use the skate uniform for the Canucks in my ideal NHL world. I do see your point, but the 2 identities, the Flames and the Canucks use 2 completely different colour schemes.
  12. Edmonton Oilers There's nothing really new with the Oilers home and road. The ideal look for me is a return to their royal blue/orange look, with the royal blue home uniform. Their uniforms are already good with just that simple switch. I made the return to the flying oil drop logo. It's my favourite Oilers logo, and utilizing the bronze and navy just made sense to me for the alternate. I hate their current navy and orange alternate. It's easily the worst uniform they've ever worn in my opinion. So I present this option as a replacement. You can see in the arm stripe the small detail of an oil drop, as well as a metal texture in the logo just to add those details. The city uniforms borrows straight from the city flag. Colours and designs. It's another one of those teams where I couldn't nail down a theme for the city jersey, so I went with the flag design. And what Edmonton and Alberta are about is oil, which is already represented pretty well in their name and regular look C&C is appreciated!
  13. Detroit Red Wings Very minimal changes to the Red Wings home and away. Just a simple striping change. I used to hate 2 colour teams, it was too simple for me. But I've learned to really appreciate and like the look the Red Wings have. They just don't need to change that much. It's pretty ideal to begin with. The alternate uniform is essentially a flipped version of their 2014 Winter Classic uniform, with the D script logo on the front. Once again, minimal changes and keeping it pretty classic. Now the City uniform is where things get crazy. This is where Red Wings fans might come after me lol. I went with the striping from their 1927/28 uniforms. I used the colours from the Detroit city flag, and I went with the term 'Hockeytown' on the front rather than Motor City. I think Hockeytown just makes sense for the Red Wings. The Detroit Pistons have the Motor City uniforms, and the Red Wings can have Hockeytown. And I checked, Hockeytown is one word. I didn't continue the red stripe to the back, just so the numbers would be easier to read. It's definitely an out there style of uniform, especially for Detroit. But it's a city uniform, I felt if one uniform could seriously break the mould, it would be this one. I am learning a lot about different city and state flags in the process which is fun as well.
  14. Dallas Stars I think the obvious move for any Dallas Stars uniform concept is to use the original star striping on the uniform. So I went with that. I did modify the primary logo, making the star sit straight, so the striping would fit a little nicer. I also used the winter classic logo in a more prominent role for Dallas, on the shoulders for the home and road and later on as the crest on the alternate. I'll be the first to admit that when the Stars put out their neon green alternate, I hated it. But I've grown to love it, especially as an alternate. It stands out from their other set which works perfectly for an alternate uniform. I somewhat combined their current alternate look with the winter classic look, adding some white detail into the uniform. For the city uniform, I went with the Dallas flag design, with some unique features including the star on the arm and different striping than the chest. I think horizontal chest stripes can get boring when they're used so often, so to add some difference in there, I didn't keep that chest stripe going onto the arms. I think it breaks it up enough to keep it different from other horizontal chest stripe teams. The colours make sense especially when you consider the Stars played around with red and blue when redesigning their current logos and uniforms. They eventually went with victory green, but concepts exist with the red and blue. C&C appreciated!
  15. Columbus Blue Jackets This will definitely be a favourite of mine out of all the concepts in the series. I like Columbus' road uniform but was never too fond of the home, with the blue shoulder/arm striping matching the uniform. So I switched it out to white and made the red stripe thicker. Same on the road. The biggest change is the cannon logo being used as the primary logo. In my opinion its a much better logo. I also went with blue pants. I think that may be the biggest thing Blue Jackets fans might have a problem with, but I think the blue pants just work better. And there will be other blue, red, and white teams that use red pants in this series, so it helps differentiate from them as well. The alternate is my favourite part about this set. It's red which doesn't technically make sense for the "Blue" Jackets, but for an alternate I think we can have a pass on that. I loved the neon green from the original logo, which I brought back for the alternate. Green never made sense for the home and road, but for an accent on the alternate, I think it works incredibly well. I spent a long time looking into ideas for the City jersey. A couple ideas later and I settled with a military jacket themed jersey, to tie in Columbus' military history. I used their current primary because of the Ohio state flag imagery in the logo, and I added a detail that will be worn on the alternate captain and captain's uniforms. A patch below the letter for the alternate captain and the captain. I'd like to add this has been the best received uniform on twitter, where I also share these. I have gotten great responses from Blue Jackets fans, which makes them my favourite fan base in the series so far haha. C&C is always appreciated!
  16. Colorado Avalanche The Colorado Avalanche. They almost have the perfect uniform set. Almost. The switch from the black helmet and pants didn't sit well with many people, I'm thinking it was just so much of a change it was hard to get used to. I'm glad they took away the black, it never made much sense. But the blue looks strange as well. I did some minor changes to the home and road. I replaced the grey striping with white on the home and blue on the road. I also changed the pants, helmet, and gloves to red instead of blue. It's hard to tell if it would work with it all laid out like this, and I don't quite have the photoshop skills to mock it up on a picture. But I think it may look less strange than the blue pants did. Nothing too crazy done to the home and road, they're pretty much ideal already for me, besides those striping changes. The alternate takes a far different turn than ever seen before for Colorado. I love the Yeti foot logo. It's one of my favourites from the Avs. Not enough to be a primary, but it makes for a great alternate logo. I was thinking of going for something similar to their current alternate, but it's just boring. I went with a new striping pattern, something I thought signifies an avalanche. Snow cascading down a mountain, starting with just a little bit of snow, and escalating into more and more. The stripes getting thicker and thicker as they go down the sleeve. It's eye catching, stands out, and is a different uniform than the Avs have ever seen. Perfect for an alternate. It also features the navy blue, just to further have it stand out from the home and road set. The City jersey uses the great colours of the Colorado state flag. The Avs already use a logo closely resembling the flag logo, so recolouring that logo seemed like the perfect idea. It also comes with recoloured shoulder patches. C&C is appreciated!
  17. I always appreciate the in depth C&C to my concepts! Making the head monochrome for the alternate for Chicago is a great idea! It's one of those details that I often work too fast to fully catch before posting. The Hurricanes city jersey may never feel right to me using the flag design, but maybe something I will go back into at the end of the series. I'll probably go over many of the city uniforms at the end of the series, to fix up some of those.
  18. Chicago Blackhawks Up next is my previous favourite team. It's been the Jets since they returned to my home province, but I grew up cheering for the Blackhawks, watching Toews at UND and then play for Chicago. Their uniforms are incredible and honestly didn't need much change. The biggest change I made was subbing the head logo with the C tomahawks logo. I'm a big fan of their logos, and I haven't looked into any of the conversations they've had about their name and logo. The name should never change in my opinion, but maybe it is time to make the switch to promoting the C logo. I initially had the coloured version, with the green and yellow, but it didn't look as good as I thought, so I simplified the colours to fit the uniforms, and I think it really works. I kept the head logo on the shoulder. I slightly updated the road waist striping to match the home, but I didn't touch to much with the uniforms themselves. I was really looking forward to Chicago solely because of the alternate and city uniforms. The alternate is a direct play off of their 2019 Winter Classic uniforms which played off of their uniforms in the 20's and 30's. I added the tomahawk logo to the centre of the circles. and added a red outline, just to provide some splash of colour. And to differentiate it from what they have already worn. That includes a red stripe on the waist and arms. The city uniform might be my favourite out of every team. I'm not from Chicago, but if I was, I'd love any sports uniform with those flag elements on it. The colours, the stars, it's unique to Chicago and everyone knows immediately what it's from. The logo fits so perfectly into the design, and I didn't even have to recolour it to have that fit. The only thing I think it can be faulted on is how much Chicago sports teams use these elements, like the Bulls, but they wouldn't use it if it didn't work. C&C is appreciated of course!
  19. I know a lot about hockey uniforms and teams, but I can't say I ever knew this team existed haha. I think this only adds to the reasons why a city uniform with the cowboy hat from the flag makes sense. It ties back to some hockey history from the WHA days.
  20. Carolina Hurricanes I love, love, love the Hurricanes look. But specifically the warning flag logo, which should be their primary logo. I would've gone for the black uniform, but switching Calgary to black, I decided to keep red as the home primary. Not really any big changes here for the Canes besides the warning flag logo taking over as the primary. I think the same thing with Blasty applies to me for the Canes. I love the diagonal Canes logo. I'm likely in the minority. I know people hate word marks on uniforms, which I've never understood. There's nothing wrong with word marks. Certain word marks and certain nickname logos don't work. Bolts is a ridiculous logo for the Lightning. But Canes makes sense. We all call them that anyway. It is my Ideal NHL after all, so I went with this logo. I went with a lot of similar ideas to their current alternate. Black, with mostly red striping. I brought the heather texture to the red striping, I quite like textured alternate uniforms. It just adds an extra layer of detail. For the city uniform, it is heavily based on the Raleigh city flag. The 2 red stripes on the outside with the green leaf and logo in the middle. With a recoloured Canes logo in the middle. Yes, I know, it looks like the Subway logo. I saw it right away, but I figured it's just a city jersey, it could get past that. Maybe they can just be sponsored by Subway and it will all be fine.
  21. I think Calgary having a cowboy hat in their flag is maybe the greatest thing I've discovered recently. And helpful when making a city uniform haha I do like the flaming C, but I've always loved Blasty. Maybe more so than the common hockey fan. I just love how different it was, more out of the box. So my full time Blasty look definitely isn't for everyone, but I love it. And as for the Canucks skate logo, I actually love that logo too, but I think I share your sentiment that it shouldn't be used full time. The Canucks blue and green is one of my favourite colour schemes in the NHL.
  22. Calgary Flames I think a majority of people and Flames fans would say their current uniform set is the best they've had. Me, personally, the horse head logo has and will always be my favourite logo they've ever had. It fits with the stampede theme of Calgary, and still connects to the name 'Flames'. When they introduced the reverse retro last season, it was easily the best uniform they've ever worn, in my opinion. In the previous era of uniforms, the style they went with made the black addition on the uniform look pretty bad. So when they unveiled the new uniforms, it was an immediate upgrade. I don't think that they needed to remove black for it to be an upgrade. I guess if you aren't a fan of the horse logo, you may not agree with me whatsoever, but this is my ideal look for the Flames. Based on the reverse retro uniforms with an added white stripe on the home, and a matching uniform for the road. I also did bring back the shoulder logo, I think it's quite a solid shoulder logo. Especially with the return of black into the set. I could've gone the easy route with the alternate, and just used the Flames current home red uniform, but I thought since I added black back in, I might as well dive back into the uniform history and go with this classic. Cleaned up. I think it looks pretty solid. For the city uniform, Calgary's flag makes for a perfect fit. They essentially have their own hockey logo built into the flag. While I was making it, it somewhat reminded me of Denmark's uniform, but for a special jersey, I didn't think that would matter too much. It's simple enough to fit on a uniform, but still recognizable as to what it would stand for, at least to Calgarians. Any C&C is appreciated!
  23. Buffalo Sabres I know everyone's first question is why I used Jeff Skinner for the uniforms. I just like the guy haha. He gets a bad rep because the GM gave him a terrible contract. But he's not too bad. And he wears a unique number that I could showcase on the uniforms. I just love working on the Sabres. Gold and blue may be my favourite colour scheme to work with, it seems like nothing can look bad. I think the most obvious change is the logo. I altered it slightly. When the Sabres released their 50th anniversary logos, I loved how the swords reached past the boundary. It's such a simple addition to their logo, but I think it makes it stand out a little more. Almost seems more modern without really changing it at all. The stripes remain the same on the home. My biggest issue with Buffalo is the lack of matching stripes. I'm a huge fan of matching striping patterns. So when the road didn't match the home, it almost ruined the whole thing for me. Even worse was the arm and waist stripes not matching. Not to mention it just felt like what Chicago and Dallas do already with their striping. So I switched it up, and matched the home and road striping. I think the gold gets lost a little bit in the blue, but I'd imagine if it were fully printed in a real uniform, it would be more obvious. I felt it was a no brainer to bring in the alternate they are already bringing back. Plus it got a lot of positive feedback from fans so I had to make it the alternate. I really wanted to use the shoulder logo from the home/roads for the alternate uniform, but I feel like it would have to be gold, and it's just too close to the home and road set, it would go against all my goals for the series. The one aspect of this throwback style I hated was the number font. I don't think we really need to bring back every rugged and jagged font from the 90's just because they used it back then. So I had the retro style stitched numbers in my fonts, and I really like the look of that font, so I just went with it. Block letters will always be superior to those weird 90's fonts. Like the Ducks reverse retro font that no one could read. And the ever so tough to design city uniforms. When I had the idea, I didn't think it would be that hard. And then I figured I could just fall back on the city flag design. Until Buffalo. Where the city flag is white and blue. And for obvious reasons, Buffalo will not have a blue and white uniform. So now I had to think of what Buffalo is about. The main thought that came to mind was the Bills. I know Bills fans are insane, in the best way possible. The city loves that team. So I figured why not combine the two? A football style uniform, with the number in the front. The bonus is the jersey striping used on the Bills red alternate is the same style used by the Sabres in the past, so really it's a perfect fit. I recoloured the Sabres shoulder logo to fit, and added the flag element on the front. I even kept the white helmet to match the Bills. And as always, C&C is appreciated! Just don't roast me on liking Jeff Skinner lol
  24. It seems a lot of the colours will look different when I export it than on my program, but I think the brown still comes across enough thankfully. I'm pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback on the city uniform, I wasn't super sure about it. Thanks for the feedback! Thank you! There's going to be some really cool concepts coming up. That's probably the best compliment I could get, thank you! There's only a couple team's I'm semi scared to change, the Bruins, Habs, Blackhawks. It's great to be getting solid and positive feedback like this though, especially for a supposed untouchable original 6 team. The alternate including black was solely so I could stick to some of the rules I set out for myself, to make it clearly different from the home/road uniforms. It would probably look great with the brown, but that's too predictable.
  25. Boston Bruins Sound the alarms! haha I changed up the look slightly of an original 6 team. Black is such a prominent colour for so many teams, I thought why not bring brown back into the Bruins set. It's not even that crazy because it has existed in their identity in the past. Jersey striping stays consistent, but I did simplify the logo somewhat. I always thought there was too many strokes and outlines in the current logo. So not much change beyond the logo and brown instead of black. The black makes a return in the alternate uniform though. It's based on a previous alternate design, but with some modern details, and the colours swapped. So almost like a reverse retro style king of thing. The city uniform is heavily based on the city flag, elements of the Boston Marathon, and the logo plays off of the markers on the Freedom Trail, which I just learned existed today. It makes for a unique logo and uniform that ties directly back to Boston. The idea for the tie back to the Marathon comes from what the Red Sox did with their City Connect uniforms. It made enough sense to me to replicate that idea in this uniform. And it may be the only uniform in the series with lower case letters in the back name plate. C&C appreciated, and if you're from Boston and are slightly offended by my take at a city jersey, I'm very sorry haha. And if you have ideas for the previous and future city jerseys, you can add it to your C&C, I'd love to know what people from various NHL cities think should go on their team's city jersey.
