  1. I’m late to this, but this has all the stink of Culley being a scapegoat and set up for failure. The Texans had no business winning any games at all this season, and somehow Culley got four out them. Seems like he was getting only one year and the axe no matter how many games he won and how much he made out of a truly bad situation (and he did a commendable job at both). No matter who they hire, that franchise is still a dumpster fire and it’s going to take some serious change and time for them to get out of thier pit.
  2. *If the Raiders make the Super Bowl* Bisaccia: *Points at Lombardi Trophy* That’s the one. That’s the Silver Tuna. Carr: SIIILVER TUNA TONIGHT
  3. To be honest I’m not familiar with how the 5-year rule enforces things like color tweaks or otherwise minor changes - the logo and the rebrand that went along with it were introduced in 2013, with the minor tweaks you’re referencing coming along in 2018. Would that mean the Dolphins could still make changes now (using 2013 as the year in reference), or are the minor tweaks significant enough to start the 5-year clock over?
  4. The Cardinals are usually at the top of my off-season changes wishlist every year, but I’m also still counting down the days Miami’s belly flop dolphin is gone forever. The uniforms are just fine, but that logo needs to go, and I’m hoping for a surprise that this year is the year.
  5. Things I don’t consider the Titans’ uniform to be: tough, clean, stark Cheesy, gaudy, and better suited for a Semi-Pro team sponsored by the Excalibur? Absolutely. But tough, clean, and stark? No way.
  6. I think the Argos route would be really good for Tennessee as well. Along the same lines, I also wouldn’t mind them taking notes from North Carolina (without argyle, of course): Overall, something simpler and easier on the eyes that embraces powder blue - helmets and all - would be excellent. *Yes, I know that’s technically Carolina blue and not powder blue; I’m just going for the spirit of the idea here.
  7. I would say I “forgot” Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson played for Washington, but I honestly don’t think I even knew they did in the first place. That’s a whole other level of QB revolving door. Re: Judge, I really wonder how much his firing and Gettleman’s “retirement” is going to affect Daniel Jones. It’ll be interesting to see if the new personnel coming in will be as willing to give him another go as Judge was. No matter where they’ll stand on him, they need a new O-Line yesterday.
  8. I honestly feel like the 49ers could really make more noise than thier seed would suggest. The defense is coming along at the right time, yes, but I also feel like they could be enough of a nuisance with thier run game to control the clock and potentially neutralize the more potent offenses they’d have to face along the way. Add in the home-run-play capabilities Swiss Army Deebo and Kittle have to offer, and maybe even some chunk-run Lance packages sprinkled in, and that’s a team that’s sneakily well-equipped to cause some trouble, even against teams like Dallas, Green Bay, and Tampa Bay. Like you said, Jimmy G absolutely has to take care of the ball for all of that to work. But if he does, and the 49ers play thier way? I’m not sure I’d want to play them right now.
  9. Alright, I’ll throw some predictions out there! AFC - Wild Card - Kansas City over Pittsburgh Cincinnati over Las Vegas Buffalo over New England - Divisional - Tennessee over Cincinnati Kansas City over Buffalo - Championship - Tennessee over Kansas City (Feeling a big King Henry game here) NFC - Wild Card - Tampa Bay over Philadelphia *UPSET ALERT* San Francisco over Dallas LA Rams over Arizona - Divisional - Green Bay over San Francisco Tampa Bay over LA Rams - Championship - Green Bay over Tampa Bay Super Bowl Green Bay 34, Tennessee 20 MVP: Davante Adams, GB Multiverse of Madness Super Bowl: Pittsburgh 7, San Francisco 6 because Steelernanigans for Ben
  10. Also, I don’t think they’re getting past Kansas City…but I still don’t like Pittsburgh squeezing thier way into the playoffs with a legend about to retire…again. Weird crap happened on Bettis’ farewell tour through SB XL, and the Steelers pulling a Lombardi out of thier end for Ben would be the most Steelers thing that ever Steeler’d. Again, I don’t think it’s going to happen, but still.
  11. Wow. I haven’t seen the numbers, but I’d be very curious to see what the playoff clinching probabability was for the Chargers before and immediately after the timeout. That’s one of the more head scratching calls I’ve ever seen. Carr’s post-game comments about the changed strategy is a dagger. Who knows what they’d have tried to do if the timeout’s not called, and if it’d have worked in time. Staley’s really going to have to answer for this one, and no, “aNaLyTiCs” won’t be a good answer this time.
  12. The last two are definitely annoying for sure, I’ll gladly give you that. I honestly don’t see the problem with the first one though. Whereas the last two are based on nothing but bold assumption or some tin-foil-hatting, the first is based in actual visual evidence that the team didn’t think to blur out like it did elsewhere. These boards are clearly the kind of place where that’s going to get pounced on. I for one thought the logo in the reflection was a great catch and was fun to look into. Also, the helmet logo in the reflection is looking like the leaked “W” so far, so the “panning out” of that looks promising for now. To each thier own, though. If you’re truly that annoyed by it, then that’s alright and that’s for you.
  13. Dang it, now the thought of paintings of Ron Rivera styled like the Chairman Dwight portrait hanging around the stadium is stuck in my head.
  14. To be honest, the more I’ve sat on it, the more I don’t mind “Commanders”. I’m not necessarily thrilled about it, but I certainly don’t hate it either. George Washington was both the Commander of the Continental Army and later, of course, Commander in Chief as President, so it’s a name that hits on both of the roles we know Washington for without heavily diving into one or the other (ex: “Generals” or “Presidents”). I have no idea of course if that’d be the reason they went for it, but it’s something that came to mind. If the stencil “W” is real, that’d explain why I thought I was seeing a separate object within the “W” in the teaser. Ah well, it’s still fun to dissect and try to make sense of things like that. The one thing I’m really not liking so far is that seal. There’s a bit too much going on there and looks too much like a high school seal to me. They could really do without that.
  15. The Jets are a weird case for me. Like many other teams, they wear some bad combos (mono black, white over black), but I really don’t think the base design of the uniform as a whole is bad at all. That being said, I also don’t think there’s anything particularly special about it, either. To me it’s very average, middle of the pack uniform and doesn’t do much to stand out in bad or good ways. All in all, I just feel nothing but indifference towards that whole set, which I suppose can be just as bad as dislike. Take that with all the losing it’s associated with, and I feel like they probably just need to go either back to the Namath set (but with the updated green and fixed shoulder stripes), or something that more closely resembles the 80’s or early 90’s sets than this current one does. That team is in desperate need of an identity boost, and tapping into some nostalgia and heritage in a more deliberate, clear fashion could do them some wonders.
  16. ^ Oh I understand that, I’m just saying that I think a ‘98 throwback has been there for the easy making and probably should’ve been thier work-around of the one helmet rule to begin with. It makes little sense to me to continue trotting out a Frankenstein version of the ‘66 set when they’ve already got most of the pieces there to directly wear the ‘98 set. Swap out the pants and wear the solid black socks and boom, you’ve pretty much got the real thing.
  17. Definitely. It also would’ve been a nice little nod to the ‘98 team. Side note: Atlanta could easily bust out a new pair of these pants and make thier fauxback alternate a straight up ‘98 throwback. Why in the world haven’t they done that yet? It’d be so easy to do, and the ‘98 team’s status as one of - if not THE best team in Falcons history - certainly warrants the use.
  18. The Falcons’ change of heart on monochrome black has, admittedly, helped that set grow on me the slightest bit. I still think the uniform has a lot of parts that just flat out aren’t good and will keep it from ever being a good uniform in my eyes, but the black over white combo is the best one they have and wearing it more often has managed help the set out a little.
  19. I have to admit, there’s a part of me that was hoping Washington would take this opportunity to switch the shades of burgundy and gold to the 2002 fauxback shades and redesign the new uniform accordingly. Name aside, this is still one of my favorite football uniforms of all time: Remove the name + spear and put a “W” of some sort on the helmet, and they’d have been in some good business. Oh well. I still think the new set has a lot of potential from the bits we’ve seen, so we’ll have to see how the whole thing comes together when all is said and done.
  20. “So I look at the list of final names and what do I find out man what do I find OUT?! There iiiis no Washington Admirals, the name does not exist okay so I’m deciding AWWWW *censored* buddy I gotta dig a little deeper there’s no Washington Admirals? Are you KIDDING ME I’ve got BOXES full of Washington Admirals! Alright so I start maaarchin’ my way down to Carol in HR…”
  21. Right, I had the same thought. It could still say “WASHINGTON” on the back for a jersey that’s being used for the reveal.
  22. Are we sure that’s not an upside down “W”? I promise I’m not trying to stir the pot here or be contrarian, but I honestly can’t quite tell for certain if the jersey in the picture you’re referring to is rightside up or upside down. If it is upside down, that could be saying “WASHINGTON”.
  23. These being a lasting part of the regular set are why I’m not fretting too much about the supposed second helmet option (yet). I think a re-worked fauxback could be a way to further integrate the team’s history into the new brand, and I really wouldn’t be surprised to see them do just that. I know the sound of a second helmet (and clear visual evidence of it in the teaser) can be a bit off-putting, but we still have very little context of what that helmet is and no confirmation of what uniform it’s being paired with yet. Sure, it could end up being awful, but I’m not jumping to conclusions on it quite yet without seeing the whole thing. I’m holding out hope it’s a fauxback.
  24. I’m afraid of possibly reaching here too, but it seems like that shot of the helmet bumper has the logo edited out of the bumper. It’s extremely faint and easy to miss, but looks like a “W” had been there and you can still see a sort of shadowy outline of it.
