  1. O's went with the home whites tonight instead of the typical orange alternates. Wonder if the nationally televised games played a factor. Edit: well...they skipped it completely and went home whites for Sunday Night. Guess they're just having fun at this point with back-to-back games on Fox and ESPN.
  2. Time for another episode of fashionably late takes on CCSLC with yours truly: I knew it was the beginning of the end for the Yanks when they gave in to the holiday jerseys at the time when MLB had that going for everyone. That is all. As far as the role of ads in MLB, I don't have too much to say. Shared a thought on that in regards to the NBA, but this is a different league, so I think it'll be more of the same, but it won't be as rampant as with the NBA.
  3. I like the ASG logo, but can't help but wonder if MLB is going semi-standardization with the logos from here on out with that...not to mention, the 2023 postseason logos are using that style too. As far as an O's prediction, I'm sure they'll have found an ad patch by the time spring training rolls around. It would also be nice to see them modify the City Connect to expose the color pattern a little more...outside of at least incorporating it into the cuff of the sleeves so it doesn't have to be stitched or rolled up, I have no idea what they can do though.
  4. Hope @ruttep doesn't mind me taking his 49ers predictions to GUD. I'm still having fun with this. Best looking game outside of the usual divisional matchups might be at Pittsburgh in Week 1, especially if it's a perfectly sunny day.
  5. This is the definitive Patriots Day/Marathon jersey to me. Yes, this was the immediate result of the 2013 bombings, but if the CC's were gone, I'd get behind them wearing this every marathon day again.
  6. In response to Neil Everett's departure, I surely read only into headlines from other sources because I thought he was leaving on his own terms instead of the layoffs; with the way he's sparingly appeared on SportsCenter LA in the last year, I started to think he wanted more down time or was given a smaller role at the network. That being said, I'll miss him the most. Him and Stan on the west coast were a very great SC tag team. Ashley Brewer replacing Neil is okay with me, but LA SC won't be the same.
  7. Sounds like a great idea! I've edited my post with this for my prediction of the Ravens uniform schedule...though now I have to be mindful of shoe/sock combos that I usually overlook. How did you get the uniforms for the Cards? I have them wearing red/white vs the Ravens, but I would need the new uniforms, which won't be on the website until the season plays out. Getting the new uniforms for Arizona was tough since they're not on GUD yet; I had to pull them from an image off the website's Twitter account to get what I wanted.
  8. Have the Nuggets always had the sponsored court side logo opposite the baseline script? Seeing Michelob Ultra near the basket makes this NBA Finals game feel somewhat like a locally-televised regular season game when it shouldn't be there for the national TV games
  9. As a result of the recent fallout between the Padres and Bally Sports San Diego, MLB just took over broadcasting duties for at least the rest of the 2023 season. To no surprise, they are using the MLB Network graphics.
  10. I'm usually not a bitter man for teams wearing uniforms over another, but Boston gets what they deserve by not wearing white AT HOME for a Game 7 of the East Finals.
  11. The only comparable use I've seen beforehand is the All-Star Celebrity Game. That aside, I think using team names is okay considering the WNBA is obviously not as popular, yet a somewhat rising sport in the eyes of some viewers; not saying the use of abbreviations a la the typical NBA on ESPN presentation is irrelevant, but this is a worthy experiment considering that Fox Sports did the same with their scoreboard for the RSNs covering NBA teams in those final few seasons before turning over to Bally. And with that being said, getting the team names probably helps when you realize how ad-heavy the WNBA uniforms are.
  12. The unveiling and on-field debut of the City Connect uniforms were confirmed this morning via their Twitter account.
  13. My predictions for the Ravens uniform matchups in the 2023 season (credit to @throwmesomepics and his Seahawks prediction post in this thread for the idea to use GUD to show off the uniform matchups): I think the Ravens go WAH for the home opener/Kickoff game. Texans at Ravens in Baltimore on a September afternoon would look weird with the matchup I'd give, but honestly, I don't think there's much of a choice because assuming WAH Ravens, there's little odds in my opinion the Texans go battle red on the road and they damn sure wouldn't put on all-navy either, color rush or not. Like last year, the black uniforms don't get a favorable schedule with only one home primetime game (TNF Wk 11 vs Bengals) that you can pencil in and the rest of the home schedule is currently 1pm games. Assuming none of the flex-eligible games get moved, I think they'd go with the rest of their black combos vs the Rams and Dolphins in December. Though, with a home finale against the Steelers for the third straight year, I wouldn't be surprised if they wear black again and wear something different the week before vs Miami, maybe even wear the beautiful black/purple uniform against Pittsburgh. Speaking of the Bengals, If you're worried they'd put on the white tiger uniforms in Baltimore, I don't think it happens this season. I think they go all-white with the standard helmet instead and save their white tiger for their two MNF games this year (vs Rams & at Jaguars). If Ravens vs Titans was in Nashville, I'd have predicted white/purple vs navy/Columbia; instead, the game went across the pond and I think they'll wear all-white. Personally would have went for white/black, but last time they put on in the UK, Sacksonville introduced themselves to the world in that 44-7 drubbing. I wasn't sure if the Chargers should wear white or yellow pants with their light blue jerseys against the Ravens wearing white/purple for their first trip to SoFi Stadium. We got a beautiful looking matchup in M&T 2 seasons ago when the Bolts brought their current uniforms to Baltimore for the first time and I would like to believe we can have that vice versa with this SNF matchup in Inglewood. Maybe I'll change my mind, but I like light blue/white for this one. Kinda wish there was a way it could be CR purple Ravens vs WAH Chargers, but I digress. I did ask myself the same question for Week 14 vs the Rams. Unlike their last appearance in Baltimore, bone is fading out of their picture. But I had to avoid a situation where the Rams going white/blue causes trouble and confusion with whatever the Ravens wear, so I settled on white/yellow for the Rams. They didn't use all their uniform combinations last season, having skipped the non-CR all-purple and black/white. Barring a flex, I think they'll try and wear them all this time around.
  14. I hope I'm not misinterpreting your statement...you're NOT implying that jerseys in the NBA will be as advertisement-laden as what we see in the WNBA, correct? Just that they will slowly, but surely take up more real estate and become more in your face over the next few years, except that the city/team name/other front-facing team element will be preserved because history. If so, I can't tell if this trend of ads becoming more prominent is because the league is still dying to get back its losses from the 2019-20 season pause from you-know-what OR being at the forefront of innovating whatever it is they can come up with to better their league at any cost.
  15. I had to revisit this botched jersey...call my thought crazy, but...were they aiming to incorporate the same, if not a similar font to this beloved Maryland essential???
  16. As far as forced 3-letter team abbreviations go, we need to point the finger at WB Discovery. TNT started using NOP for the Pelicans, GSW for the Warriors with the 2015 graphics, and eventually NYK for the Knicks some years later on if I recall. Then, last season, TNT starts covering NHL games and continues the same mistakes with teams like the Golden Knights, Rangers, and Kings to name a few. Thankfully, TBS doesn't do this with MLB as it's just team/cap logos to represent teams instead of abbreviations.
  17. Well, since leaks like this are more likely to turn out real then fake, we're in for some embarrassing uni matchups instead of ruining them. Also, where are the Rays' navy blue alts? Because with them wearing their sunburst uniforms, that made the O's wear black last night. If they're not wearing orange every Saturday and getting pushed around on sticking to white Mon-Thurs, that's more evidence for me to believe they aren't trying to be consistent anymore.
  18. Went back to watch yesterday's NBC simulcast of Sunday Leadoff. I get that the outline had to be dropped because of the new "logo", but during sports events, it needs a background (i.e. CBS Sports current on-screen IDs). Now you have a problem where some of the feathers blend in with or are hard to find on the screen.
  19. Not sure if this fits here considering the circumstances, but I thought I recalled Buck wearing this custom "B" cap (derived from the "Baltimore" script) at some BPs or spring training. https://fanrecap.com/b-is-for-buck-showalter-reportedly-wanted-os-to-have-b-road-cap/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook&fbclid=IwAR34EX2vGSc4m-bV-Xry87bhvK9gDVbeQtyoV8PSHRuyY2-a7O5IsFrT4qY I do understand the team's stance on trying to avoid clash and confusion with the Red Sox hats and their Boston "B". Though, I'd like to think this could have worked for the same purposes above between BP, spring training, and/or if push comes to shove, fashion caps in retail. That way, you don't run into the issue of both teams wearing B's in a regular-season or playoff game at Fenway, for instance.
  20. This has been going on since 2021, it seems, but the O's either relaxed their steadfastness to that and black on Fridays OR the teams they play against force their hand even more, especially when they are on the road. The Rangers' baby blue alternates last year forced them to wear orange on a Sunday and black the day before. I just don't know how many more uniform schedules it clashes since most, if not all the other teams (besides the Yanks) in the league wear what they want whenever they want.
  21. One thing I should have mentioned while watching the TNT and TBS Stanley Cup Playoff games...it seems like they have revamped their current graphics package. Some of the elements remind me of the now-previous NFL on Fox package like this matchup graphic seen below. Wasn't able to capture the rest yet, but some of the new transitions and player graphics also remind me of what they have with the current package from the NBA on TNT.
  22. In case any of your friends forget who's hosting the Final this year, the scoreboard for the NHL on TNT (and sometimes TBS) now features Lord Stanley himself.
  23. The 76ers roundel logo should have never died. The only good use of the current circle of stars/76 logo is for small spaces in TV scoreboards/graphics packages.
  24. Boston Celtics bringing out marathon-inspired warmup shirts today. It's 10 years to the day since the tragic bombing at the 2013 Marathon.
  25. Fox added the pitch clock into their scoreboard; it's a small popout when it reaches 6 seconds remaining. (Disregard the weather alert from the station feed) MASN (also a poput): NBC Sports RSNs and Peacock (flashes on top of the NBC logo):
