  1. “When the league was first organized in 1999, it was originally supposed to stand for ‘Xtreme Football League’, however, there was already a league in formation at the same time with that name, and so promoters wanted to make sure that everyone knew that the ‘X’ did not actually stand for anything.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/XFL
  2. Read through the rest of the thread, but didn’t see a response to this. I’ve been having this issue since the summer, but didn’t want to be *that guy* and ask about it, so I’m always surfing the site on my phone instead.
  3. I like the Nike swoosh on NBA jerseys — or the maker’s mark on any uniform, for that matter. That includes the New Era flag on MLB caps.
  4. It rarely does because teams overthink it. Detroit was close, since the Lions just needed to go with silver uniforms and pants instead of dark gray. Off the top of my head, both Ohio State and Tennessee have come close, too. If the Buckeyes ditched the “wolf” motif and used red instead of black, that uniform would have been gorgeous (I liked it as an alternate uniform in a vacuum, but it wasn’t exactly Ohio State — if that makes sense). The Volunteers also looked great, but would have been perfect if not for the dark gray shoulder yoke (I understand it was a carryover from the Smokey helmets, though).
  5. Outside of Team USA’s 2004 red alternate, a handful of Western Conference All-Star jerseys or the Knicks’ short-lived orange alternate (which were at least somewhat reminscisent of his Syracuse days), Carmelo has been on teams whose uniforms heavily featured some shade of blue (Nuggets, Knicks, Thunder). The Rockets’ red and silver (or red and black) uniforms will take a bit to get used to.
  6. Neither the Broncos nor Rams should return to their old respective shades of royal blue. Furthermore, I like the Rams' use of navy and gold. Though, I would be okay with yellow returning with the move to LA — only if they keep the navy.
  7. We're beginning to get to that point in sports aesthetics - especially in the NBA - where we rarely see the same matchup twice. Even in division games when the teams play twice at home and twice on the road, unless it's the Knicks and Celtics playing (and even they could wear a throwback or black-trimmed alt), you might not see the same uniform matchup in the same calendar year.
  8. How's this for an unpopular opinion - Denver shouldn't have ditched the toilet bowl collars. It matched the side panels so well that, if I didn't know better, I'd swear it was done on purpose. Their current collars are cartoonish and would be better off neutralized altogether a la Indy or Pittsburgh. Denver's entire set and Cincinnati's road uniforms are the only situations were I felt the toilet bowl collars worked.
  9. I think Vick looks more natural in a Steelers uniform that he ever did in an Eagles or Jets jersey. The black helmet, black jersey look hardens back to his days in Atlanta, even though the number has changed.
  10. Without these pictures, I wouldn't be able to recall what an Adidas uniform looks like without tire treads.
  11. The only changes the Rams need to make are to remove the toilet bowl collar and fix the stripes on the blue pants (one solid gold stripe). None of this retro greatest show on turf or blue and white stuff.
  12. I think football looks best played on field turf, but baseball looks best on natural grass.
  13. Two for the price of one. Honestly forgot Tim Brown played for Tampa until tonight.
  14. I like Vegas Gold for the Brewers and Penguins.
  15. May be an unpopular opinion here, but all of Columbus (including myself) loves their identity.
  16. The NFL Equipment logo looks on the jerseys looks terrible compared to just the NFL shield.
  17. I was immediately intrigued by this picture. At first, I thought to myself "I don't remember the Pacers playing at Hinkle Fieldhouse." Well, the windows at Hinkle are different. I also noticed that the color of the floor was Sonics colors, but the Pacers were wearing their home uniforms. Seattle Center Coliseum, now Key Arena, doesn't have windows, though. Never did, despite many renovations. Began searching Sonics-Pacers on Google, and the pictures I found were of the Pacers wearing white at home and blue in Seattle. Further confusion. Come to find out during the 1996-97 preseason, the teams played two games in Europe. The above picture was in Sevilla, Spain. The other matchup, with Seattle designated the home team and wearing white, was in Berlin, Germany. Problem solved. However, considering the teams played once a year from 1995-97 wearing each their home and away uniforms, and also the aforementioned preseason games, I wouldn't say this is a rare matchup.
  18. I like midnight green more than Kelly green for the Eagles.
  19. That wordmark is gorgeous Also, a possible unpopular opinion: I think stirrups look bad and serve no functionality in today's game. Just wear a solid sock or sock with the design already woven into the fabric. It especially looks bad when someone wears gray pants with a stirrup and the white sock is showing.
  20. Reminds of the Raptors' old logo... ...but if it was just the ball-in-hand like so:
  21. As did I, but it didn't help that their rivals alsp used the same colors (plus yellow).I don't recall the Lakers busting out double blue a decade ago! I'm just messing, as far as rivals are concerned (where the feeling of both teams towards each other is mutual), Denver's probably it. But I'd bet my life savings that most Jazz fans hate the Lakers much more than they hate the Nuggets. I think KJZZ (Jazz TV channel) ran a poll last season about the which team Jazz fans hated most, and the Lakers came out on top. The Nuggets, Blazers, Rockets, and Bulls were the others, I think. Oh really? lol And yeah, I debated using the term rival while typing it. As a former Nuggets fan, I always thought the Jazz and Lakers were on equal ground as Denver's rival. I'm not surprised to see the same said from the other side.
  22. As did I, but it didn't help that their rivals also used the same colors (plus yellow).
