  1. I only really started getting into sports around the time the score bugs started to appear in sports in the late 90's. I'm 27 so I do remember the NBA on NBC showing you the score after every basket and I thought that was fine. Watching old NBA and NFL games on Youtube is annoying though especially during the 70's when they didn't tell you the down and distance, either hear the announcer or you're left in the dust.. I know back in the day people use to say "Hey man, what's the score?" when walking into the room but that doesn't happen anymore.
  2. Those weren't from Madden at all. Madden 2003 didn't even look that bad either.
  3. Here's a screenshot from Week 1 of the 1994 season showcasing Fox using the scoreboard graphic for the first time in a regular season game. Notice how it doesn't have a gray background for visibility like it eventually would later on. Wikipedia says they debuted the graphic for the first time in a 1994 Preseason game between the 49ers and Broncos.
  4. Oh man, I forgot about that. I just recently moved back to Comcast Xfinity cable for the first time since 2007 and I found KICU in the channel lineup and had some nostalgia about that era. I love when sports are on local TV like that, it's sort of a lost art now cause everyhting is on Fox Sports or NBC Sports. I remember there was a rain delay for an A's game once on KICU and the corner logo during That 70's Show wasn't the network graphic, instead it was the A's logo with an umbrella over it saying Rain Delay in place of Oakland Athletics. It was pretty cool.
  5. Fox has always been my favorite network for the NFL but this new look sucks.
  6. This is the last time Michael Jordan was ever at the Boston Garden during the 2nd half of the 1994-95 season. Also of note is Dominique Wilkins who is playing for the Celtics. Nobody really remembers that. This next picture is from the final game at the Boston Garden. Here you can plainly see the difference in the shade of green on the original Garden floor and a different Celtics logo. The Celtics used this version of the logo (colored in too) up until 2002 or something. Weird.
  7. For two seasons before the move to Staples Center, the Clippers court design was changed to have team colors and a center court logo for the first time since they moved to Los Angeles.
  8. Wilt is getting dunked on big time here. It's a crazy sight to see.
  9. Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka were Sonics players for six days.
  10. Here's an amazing one I've had saved for a couple years, I don't know exactly where it's from but from the backaround it might be All-Star Week 2003 in Atlanta. They are wearing those infamous Nike fashion throwbacks. EDIT: Found another good one.
  11. Another weird Preseason location, this time with the Sonics returning to the Tacoma Dome in 2000.
  12. Fans would get the worst seats in the house just to see Minnesota's then-new NBA team at the Metrdome. Apparently the Wolves returned to the Dome during the Garnett Era for a preseason game on October 26, 1996. They may have had more games.
  13. As much as I like how Jazz is a suitable name for New Orleans, I wouldn't want it to end up that way again. As someone who got into the NBA during the Jazz/Bulls rivalry in the late 90's, I'm just too familiar with the team being in Utah. The name doesn't make sense but it just feels right. Here's some photos of the Jazz playing on their classic Delta Center court in the 96-97 season. From what I recall, a hockey rink messed up the then-new court so they had to go back to the old one for a few games. Also, these pictures make me realize how the color sucked on that court as it's basically maroon.
  14. That 3D Jazz sign on the Salt Palace is pretty amazing. It reminds me of WWE's gigantic Wrestlemania signs.
  15. Since we're on the subject of the Raptors at Maple Leaf Gardens...
  16. To add onto the 60's Lakers and Celtics stuff from earlier in the thread, how about some actual video?
  17. It seems like other sports leagues picked up on the idea of throwbacks once the Chicago White Sox did it for the first time ever in 1990. So if we're mapping this out, the MLB started throwbacks in 1990, NBA in 1992, and the NFL in 1994. I'm not totally sure about the NHL but I know it happened in the 90's. Also in that Sonics pic, the Champion logo is on the shorts. There was talk in this thread about how it never appeared on uniforms, but there it is!
  18. It's awesome to see a high quality picture of the Lakers playing at the LA Sports Arena. This picture could be from one of their many Finals encounters. To add to the fun, check out the Boston Garden scoreboard!
  19. I've been playing the NFL Blitz since the first one came out in 1998 and I never knew about this, then again I never got to play NFL Blitz '99 much because it was only released in Arcades and I only came across the machine maybe once or twice.
  20. It's like their old field design before the redesign.
  21. Jerry Rice in a Seahawks uniform was pretty bad but how about this?
