  1. What font did you use for the Loons and St. Paul wordmarks?
  2. So I have had this concept sort of tucked away until the right moment to post on these boards and today finally I can post it. This past summer I was fortunate enough to be a full time staff member for the Bowling Green Hot Rods a class A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays as a group sales guy during the day and every job you can think of during games. I had came up with a few mock ups of promos to present to the assistant GM of the team to add to our promo schedule and he became so impressed with my work that he and the GM would give me design projects throughout the season that we would use for promos and presentations and materials for that season and next season. My last project that they gave me was to come up with a few concepts for a "What If" Night at the ballpark for the 2016 season. Now if you dont know this, the Hot Rods were the creators of this promo back when they became the Cave Shrimp for one night during their first season in Kentucky and won a golden bobble head award for best promo that season. I had came up with 3 concepts, the Stingrays, the Moonshiners, and the Bootleggers. They immediately fell in love with my Bootleggers concept and choose to use that for their promo and use my hat logo for the players to wear and sell to the fans. They created their own jersey for the occasion that is a jersey with a bourbon barrel on it. As soon as they announced the promo, I wanted to share to y'all my design and what they BG Hot Rods will be wearing on the field come July 16th. The design for the Primary Barrel Man came from old photos I found at a local photo archive at the local library in Bowling Green of moonshine runners during the prohibition era. A lot of photos were of old grizzly looking men. Also Zac Brown from the Zac Brown Band's face was the inspiration of the Barrel Man's face haha. I choose the colors brown and orange because it was a very under utilized color scheme in baseball today and they look great together. I used a dark brown for the base color and I utilized the "broadway burnt orange" that brandiose was going to use when they redesigned the Nashville Sounds. The uniform is based off a 70's early 80's uniform style that the Astros and Indians utilized. And Elastic waistband pants with buttons that were the norm during the 70's just fit well with the classic look of the uniform. The Hot Rods changed the hat from a dark brown to a black hat, but the Barrel Man logo's colors fit perfectly with my design. And to go with the craziness that is minor league baseball, they created a bourbon barrel jersey to auction off after the game. Here is what it will all look like on the field: If you want to see my whole design presentation you can catch it on my Behance page: https://www.behance.net/gallery/30160617/What-If-Bowling-Green-Bootleggers-(KY)
  3. thanks for the comment, ill explore fixing the jaw line since it does look a little to round. That should be an easy fix. The ear I may keep the same or not edit too much. I kept it as a simple shape cause I didnt want it to take away any focus from the two main parts of the logo in the face and feathers. As soon as I posted it I thought the same thing about the neck haha. I think you are on to something about making the bottom of the neck curve up rather than have it rounded down. I'll have an edited version early this week. I will post my last uniform concepts first before I post my edits to the raider logo.
  4. First set of uniforms up are the baseball set. I created two sets at first and couldn't pick one over the other so I added both into the design. Since I coach baseball and do more baseball designs, it was only fitting that I would have came up with multiple baseball designs than the other uniform sets. Up next will be the mens and women's basketball as well as wrapping up with this concept with a football uniform set.
  5. Here are the wordmarks plus a few alternates and an alternate coloring of the raider logo. Up next will be uniforms of the 4 most popular sports at the high school.
  6. Hey everyone. My latest side project I created a redesign concept of Wamego High School located in Wamego Kansas. I am currently student teaching at the high school and this project stemmed from me trying to find a shirt in town that I could wear so that I would represent the school come baseball season where I will be an assistant coach. But the more shirts I found, the more I really did not like their current raider logo. It looked like the design was trying to hard to combine the powercat logo of the near by Kansas State University with an Indian logo. Some kids in the school nicknamed their current logo the "frankenraider."So I wanted to create my own raider logo and shirt to use for the baseball season and the rest of the redesign snowballed after. For this concept, I took their current raider logo and gave it a modern update complete with smoother and bolder lines. I dropped the powercat look from it and gave the face and feathers shadow highlights to give it more depth. From there I also updated the W logo to match the new raider head and created a universal wordmark that athletics, academics, and community programs can use to create better cohesion with the high school's imagery in the local community. I will start off by posting the two logo updates, then wordmarks and uniforms of the 4 major sports will follow. 7. For the uniform redesign I tweaked the away and alternate blues and made the most changes with the home and batting practice uniform. The home uniform I choose to go with blue sleeves on the white uniform and adjust the piping to a more classic piping than the shoulder neck piping combo they have now. On both the away and alternate blue sets I eliminated the neck piping and added sleeve piping instead and used the BG secondary logo for the alternate blues. For the batting practice uniform I swapped the russell template for the current MLB batting practice template. I was not a fan of the horizontal lines on the front and back shoulders. For the hats I added an orange hat to use as an away hat and swapped the shoulder patch logo and replaced it with my secondary hot rod logo for the batting practice hat. If you want to catch a peak at the sunday sets or see the whole project as it came together, check my project out on my behance page: https://www.behance.net/gallery/31617639/BG-Hot-Rods-Redesign-of-the-Redesign
  8. Thanks so much! Yea the Hat logo gave me the most difficulty cause I really wanted to incorporate the side view of the car logo since a hidden element of it is the dust cloud forms the border of Kentucky, but looking at it its probably too small to embroider on a hat. I may enlarge the car on the hat logo or find a different approach to it and make the side view its own logo. When SME was designing the rebrand, they had the most trouble with the BG logo the most too.
  9. Here are close ups of the new secondary logos as well as the entire logo set. I'll post uniforms and my sunday alternate sets later on today. Secondary Marks Redesign Logo Set
  10. I was an employee of the Hot Rods over the summer and got the chance to make some offseason ads and graphics with their new logos before the season was over. While working with these logos, I felt the same way as a lot of you on the boards. I felt that SME really missed the boat on the overall design concept and it felt rushed in some areas. There were some logos that I felt they did a great job on and it is reflected in my design concepts, but for this project I wanted to take my experience in being a minor league baseball fan and working in minor league baseball and see what I could come up with to improve the Hot Rod's new brand. For this project a designed a few new logos to replace some of the logos I felt SME did not work well for a minor league team and also kept a few of the ones that worked well. I redesigned the whole uniform set and even added a special sunday uniform. I am starting off this project by showing the primary logo I designed which I used as a focal point that everything else is designed around. I will periodically add more from this project.
  11. The logo work in this looks great and love the color scheme! My only critique on the logos is that the timberwolf's legs look like deer legs and not wolf like.
