  1. This is Section30's design series. Why is TheLogoFather72 establishing random deadline expectations instead of commenting on any design whatsoever? If you want to be their client then you should offer them money. I love the name and the horseshoe alt is convincing at the power 5 level, but I think the colors all come off too drab when paired with black. They work very well with the white, though. Maybe, it's just the contrast in certain applications. The jockey inspired striping is unique and has purpose, which is crucial for any team trying to own a modern/off the wall uniform style. When there isn't purpose it just looks like a shot in the dark at trendy that usually misses very far wide. Solid identity! Keep it up. Can't wait to see your next one by this Saturday at 4PM Central.
  2. For what it’s worth, I found the heavy use of white on the dark jersey very innovative and unique. If Ottawa was bold enough to embrace white over red I could see it being a huge risk that has the potential to pay big, considering it hasn’t really been done at most levels (if any). I see it as a touch of modern that could make Ottawa standout from the ample amount of red/black in the NHL. I like the updates as a safe option just as much, but I personally don’t think it’s doing enough to make the young franchise stand above the rest. I’d suggest making the gold accent stripes a metallic twill so it stands out.
  3. Don’t know enough to speak for the location, but the city jersey is my favorite take on the four stripes alt that the team loves to run with. I’d make the number solid just so it looks cleaner, but I think the rest is a good example of how to make a gradient work without it being overwhelming.
  4. 1. I was going to say “great minds think alike”, but my take that I submitted to Icethetics was meant to simplify the look. I guess great mind think completely differently, yet end up in the same place? Either way, I support your home/away options! 2. Put me on blast haha! I appreciate you stepping away from the low hanging fruit to give us something different for the alt.
  5. I'd prefer if the shoulders on the white were bare, but I'd still buy it either way. The red seems odd on the alt, but I've wanted everything else about it for so long. Good work!
  6. Y'all ever get tired of the same logos for custom teams every year in the EA NHL series? So tired that you start playing with the colors to get rid of elements of those same worn logos to make something half unique/new? This technique is now officially known as "The Toronto".
  7. The ASU jerseys are so ugly. Worst we have looked since we won ACHA nationals.
  8. I really like the direction Portland is going in. I personally don't like the name options, so here are a couple that come to mind; Portland Petals - I'm not sure if this is an actual team name, but it seems obvious. Down side? It is a little soft for football. Portland Pruners - Not specifically related to roses, but neither is a petal. This one involves a sharp object so it must be manly, right? Like... this explanation from Google sounds hardcore; "The primary purpose of pruners is to remove dead, diseased, or damaged stems and branches from plants and bushes".
  9. I've been following on your instagram so I have not really responded here, but I think feedback is always deserved. Portage Terriers 100% upgrade on that logo simplification. Love when dark jerseys feature a lot of white, and of course the light uniforms are stellar. The alt pop, but I think the collar could use some more green. This is a situation where I'd love to see the pants with each set. I know a lot of junior teams only feature one option (unless they have some shells). The gold definitely need some green bottoms. I like the rework for Neepawa. The green on green is the better of the two, but the black/green feels more on brand. Selkirk Steelers I don't like the overall approach to this logo to begin with, but I have to say you made it a lot better. Dark/light are classy, but I wish they would have at least one alt that wasn't the Hawks. I completely get the Retro, but some slight variation for the actual alt would have been awesome. I love the I-Beam logo, especially the retro. Steinbach Pistons The alt is one of my favorite logos in junior hockey, and I am so happy their new primary simplified the brand by getting rid of chrome. Dark/light/retro are all spot on, but I wish there was some tweaks to the alt. Something about only white on the shoulder feels unbalanced. Swan Valley Stampeders Idk which logo I like more of the two. Hell, idk which of your color scheme I like more, either. That Pittsburgh template with a spin is beautiful, and the focus on light blue for the light uniform is bold. The font is awkward, but I could get behind it. The alts are so funky, and I love it. The mismatched colors and stripes somehow feel right. This is the #1 retro jersey without having anything to do with the team's history, while also not even being a retro. Speaking of retros, theirs holds the other three back, but I get why you've used it. This is the best overall team. Virden Oil Capitals I've never liked this team in any way, but you did your best with what you had. Only thing I'm not sure about on the logo is changing the sticks to white. They kind of blend with the silver. The Team Canada dark/light are suitable, and the chest striped alt makes the logo look even more busy. I like the Retro the most out of the four. Waywaytoolongofacityname Wolverines The new logo is so much cleaner, and I appreciate you killing that funky "W". Dark/light are so clean, I would buy the white one. The Ottawa gold alt is aggressive, but I like it as an alt. I would have liked to see more athletic gold used in the retro. So much more that I would argue the primary color should have been their original athletic gold. I know this idea wouldn't be good, but I would kill to see a "New York" diagonal text like they have on their current dark, but switch out "Wolverines" with "Waywayseecappo". It would be an absolute mess, but it would give hardcore juniors vibes. Winklers Flyers Thank you for bringing more orange to the logo. Speaking of orange, it pops on the dark uniform, but seems off on the light. The orange focus is preferred, but I think the light could use some black. The alt/retros are all Flyers. I'll say they look good, but get a low score on creativity. Winnipeg Blues Way to upgrade this team from a St. Louis ripoff that is seen often at this level. Your logo blows their current one out of the water. The dark uniform is perfect, but I would not mind a blue buffer between the white and yellow on the light. Honestly, I think the chest stripe can be completely removed for this team. We have seen a ton of it in this series, and that logo gets busy with that added feature. I like the "Blues" chest on the alt, and their retro looks like Buffalo. I have always hated that their arms go blue/yellow/blue while the hem goes yellow/blue/yellow, but that is my own taste. It isn't here yet, but I have to say that I wish your "Freeze" script was the primary. While I like your new logo, the script is far superior. The modern approach is the right one around your current primary, but you could string together a gorgeous traditional set around the script.
  10. It has been nice seeing you post some hockey, @TrueNorth13. Double points for making it juniors! The overhaul of the league logo is a massive upgrade to the point that it stands above about 99.99% of the junior hockey league logos that exist. Way to shake up the upper arm look with the chest stripe. It feels like that upper arm design (Penguins/Coyotes template) has become popular again, and what you did was just enough to make it look unique. Dauphin Kings The outline looks odd in the middle of the crown, but I'd say you did a good job brining the logo up to date. While I do enjoy a good look that utilizes only two colors, you were right to add the red. Their current blue is just too dark, making the overall identity bland. I'd like to see a light version of the alt because I think the design would make a solid home/away. Your light and dark being used full time does make more sense considering junior hockey teams have a harder time committing to a full custom look. Neepawa Foresters I love the Forester logo you made, but it feels odd on the chest. I think this team could get away with a full commitment to the funky wordmark in that logo. The flannel looks perfect on the dark, but the light feels lacking for some reason. Maybe it needs more black? Alts are a classic and the retro looks clean. Only thing I need to say is that the retro reminds me of the old Dallas Stars, and that just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. OCN Blizzard The logo is a major upgrade over the overcomplicated, yet somehow still clipart-esque chrome primary that they currently use. The colors you picked and your use of them definitely feels more "Blizzard" to me. I really love the dark jersey, I actually think it is close to perfect. Not necessary, but I would suggest keeping the teal and gray striping a consistent thickness on the sleeve. I get what you are going for, but I just think it would look cleaner. The alt is fun and on brand for a junior team. Not only does it call back to the team's history, but it also follows the consistent theme of junior jerseys being inspired by the NHL (Vancouver's RR). Great work! This has been an awesome thread to keep up with.
  11. Can’t wait to see Denver next... the only city that makes logical sense to me based on the tease. Love the series, but haven’t commented because all my issues have been addressed. That primary logo for New York is way too good to be overshadowed by numbers on the sleeve. I’m very happy with that change.
  12. Their “KC” logo looks like a glass half full... or empty... however you prefer to look at it.
  13. I think the Trolleys have a great name, logo and uniforms options, but they feel like a soccer team. I think the logo on the helmet is a little bit out of place for football, but it isn't far off the mark. Think there was a missed opportunity to put that trolly car on the helmet with its side facing the viewer, making it so it looks like it has some movement forwards towards the facemask (Hope I explained that well enough). I think that would make the team feel more football. Other than that, I love Atlanta as a whole, and LA looks solid.
  14. I am not saying it is unique to Springfield, just the same found in their logo. Sure there are altering outlines, but it is very similar. It surprises me they are using something so similar.
  15. Wait a second.... you're telling me that they are copying the shield shape from the Springfield Jr. Blues? They are only 4 hours away from each other! I am sure the design department could have taken inspiration from anything other than their closest geographic rival, right?
  16. I’m not sure. Playing for a “Jr.” team growing up it always felt like there was no connection between the two, making it the most youth name ever. One of my friends loved to make fun of those types of teams by starting with the team’s city name and following it with “Young Jr. AAA Hockey Club Elite All-Stars” (Basically all the stereotypes of a youth team pushed together). If I wasn’t a fan of playing for the Jr. (Insert NHL team here), then I couldn’t imagine being a “Jr.” of fifth tier pro hockey could be any better. I know guys on my college club team who have had some play time in that league.
  17. The NAHL is going wild right now. I just saw that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are heading to Danbury, Connecticut. They are going to be the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. I don't think I have ever heard a more NAHL name. How do you think the boys, who are making D1 and D3 college commits and are working towards high pro hockey dreams, feel about being considered the junior of a Fed team? http://nahl.com/news/story.cfm?id=29523
  18. Great look and a good point about the Canadian population in Florida. This team could be a traveling team split between Florida and Arizona honestly. My grandparents have 5 Canadian neighbors on their block in Mesa, AZ.
  19. I like your presentation, it is very clean. I’m not one to comment much on football because it’s just not my area, but what you’ve presented has been refreshing. I think the Drive have been my favorite all around. The color combo brings some life to the outfit and the helmet is pretty badass for the logo only being a football player. Cant wait for more!
  20. Agreed, nothing about this pulls from the now unused logo besides the cross, which is something that the fire did not create. I think the logo is spot on and would hate for a change to be forced just because an element is shared.
  21. Thank you! I was going to go on a search after homework, but it has kept me very distracted. You’re a savior to my grades.
  22. That sea lion looks very familiar but I can’t find what I’m relating it to. Did you base it off another concept or use some type of inspiration? I’ll search for it a little more, if it’s not on these boards I spent a lot of time on icethetics when I was younger so maybe there. Either way, if I recall correctly, this logo from what I’m thinking of and looks great for a team in the Bay Area. The unique name also gives it some extra points. I’d happily accept this team with open arms.
  23. Am I the only one that thinks the moose head logo is similar to the sod poodles logo? Reminds me of a reskin for a character that you see in a video game that is unlocked when you complete enough challenges.
  24. Wow, I participated in the voting on this in the early stages and I wouldn’t have put that in my top 5, I think. Overall, not a bad look but not to my taste.
