I get that. I honestly didn't keep navy & yellow entirely because of the Bees, but because the Utah Jazz also used to have a similar color scheme. Personally, if I ever did a royal blue & kelly green color scheme for the Twins, I'd want to reserve it for Minnesota, as it's one of my personal favorite color schemes and has precedence in the Twin Cities. I suppose I could harken back to an earlier Jazz scheme, which also uses cool colors: It ends up pretty similar to my Carolina Twins concept, though. Honestly, I prefer the way "Salt Lake Bees" sounds. That's very true, thank you for the insight! I played around a bit with the color-blindness simulator you linked, and it honestly seems like the red alternate would be the biggest issue, but even then , the white outline on the script helps out a great deal. Otherwise, the scripts would just look a slight bit thicker to someone who is red-green colorblind than they do to people who are not color-blind. It could also help to have a white outline on the away jersey, which I was considering adding anyway: I've always been kind of bummed that there aren't more red & green teams in sports, but the point you bring up is probably a big reason why. Thank you again for the feedback & kind words! Since it's fictional, without any actual evidence surrounding it, I'd probably prefer not to get into it, as if anything, I'm trying to run out of teams at this point, but suggestions keep coming.

What if... the Twins (temporarily) relocated to Salt Lake City? I didn't think the 'Twins' name could work in SLC, but a Twitter user pointed out to me that it could represent the 'Twin Peaks' of the nearby Wasatch Mountains.

Thanks! I thought about going with forest green, but it just felt too "drab" compared to kelly green. Here's a look, though: I'll see what I can do; of those options, keeping "Twins" or going with "Vikings" feel the most promising.

What if... Cleveland's baseball team relocated to Oakland (and changed their name)? Per @coco1997: In 1964, the "Oakland Baseball Corp." made a $6.5 million bid to purchase and move the team but were rejected by Cleveland’s board of directors. I went with "Oaks," the name of the PCL team.
  5. Yes I’m sure — the old wordmark was pretty jagged, but it had its rounded parts too (see the G and the S): The weights of the letters also match the numbers a lot better, with thin horizontal lines & thick vertical lines. That’s not to mention the thick black shadows that both of them have. I’m also not sure I’d say there’s anything “conservative” about the number font, being that it’s a custom font with multiple shadows & the thick dark outline. That might just be because *you’re* used to it.
  6. Yeah, that’s true. They probably could make a black version if they wanted, too.
  7. They should update their uniforms too while they have the chance. The old wordmark matched the current uniforms better, but the whole thing feels very stuck in the 90’s.
  8. Yeah, especially when the color they’re replacing is gold, it just looks like a washed out version of their classic set. I can see why they’re doing this against Boston College though, as they have an essentially identical color scheme, although the Noles wearing garnet pants would’ve provided even better contrast. It’s their annual “Red Bandana” game, which honors BC lacrosse player Welles Crowther, who died saving others in the September 11th attacks. Why the “Red Bandana” jersey is white though, I’m not entirely sure.

What if... the Twins (temporarily) relocated to Salt Lake? If the Twins were sold & moved to Charlotte, a plan surfaced that the team would stay in Salt Lake for a couple years while the new stadium was built. I figured they could go with a temporary "Salt Lake Bees" identity.

Those are both viable options! I'll see what I can do. Maybe!
  11. The only team that I’d like to see replace navy with black would be the Braves, because it ties in with the other teams in the city. The only team that I’d like to see replace navy with royal blue is the Broncos, because there’s precedence in their history and would give them a unique color scheme in the NFL. As true as it is that there are too many navy & red teams, especially in MLB, eliminating navy as an option would only increase blandness, not decrease it. For example, if the Nats, Twins, and/or any other navy/red team switched to royal blue, then they would just share a scheme with the Cubs & Rangers, and we’d have even more teams sharing the same color scheme.
  12. Contrast the socks (purple socks with black pants, black socks with purple pants) and these are both solid combos, I’d take either of them over the white pants. I would add stripes to the black pants, though.

What if... the Blue Jays (temporarily) relocated to Buffalo? This one isn't really a "what if," as the Jays really did play home games in Buffalo during the 2020 season. The elmination of the red maple leaf allowed for navy's presence in the set to be increased a bit.

These seem promising, the most difficult aspect would be recreating the wordmarks (the Braves' script is an especially difficult one to work with). To be completely honest, none of these names feel promising to me. Maybe they could snag "Hawks" from the NBA team since this would predate them by a few years. This is another one where I'm not sure what I'd do for the name. Plus, I'm honestly not too big on any of Cleveland's past scripts, so I'd have a tough time adapting them to my favorite team.

What if... the Yankees (temporarily) relocated to Denver? Amidst stadium renovations, the Yanks announced in November 1982 that they were about to reach an agreement with Denver to play the first 3 home games of the next season at Mile High Stadium, but the plan was rejected.

Also, I believe that's all of the teams I had prepared & the recommendations I've been given (I'm almost afraid to ask if I've missed any ), I have a few more "temporary" relocations to show & then that'll wrap it up!

Thank you very much! I was stuck on what to do for your "New Orleans Expos" recommendation ever since you suggested it, but thankfully I had a spur of inspiration the morning of! I'm glad you like it! Thanks! Since I'd likely have to change the name for each of these, I'm probably gonna put these on hold at least for now (I'm open to any recommendations for names). Thanks! The more I think about it, I'm honestly suprised New Orleans doesn't have an MLB team.

What if... the Expos relocated to New Orleans (and changed their name)? Along with Buffalo, New Orleans was prepared to swoop in if the Montreal deal fell through. I once again went with the name "Pelicans," and used the New Orleans "Baby Cakes" font throughout the design.

I do too. I don't imagine that name would (or at least, should) last into the modern day, especially as a contrast to Yankees, given the historical context.

The way the "N" is shaped makes it difficult for an "O" to intersect with it well. These are a couple options that could maybe work (the second feels very UNC-esque): That sounded fine to me at first, but since "creole" can also mean "a person of mixed European and Black descent, especially in the Caribbean," I'm not sure I'd want to get into that confusion. Plus, since it seems (at least to me) at least a bit more race-based than geography-based, it might be slipping too much into controversial territory. I don't know enough about that myself, I'd have to see what other people think. But since a sports team already uses the name "Cajuns" (The University of Louisiana), that seems like the safer way to go, at least in this hypothetical.

What if... the Yankees relocated to New Orleans (and changed their name)? New Orleans pitched the Yanks to move south in the late 70's, but negotiations broke down before they really began. I wasn't forced to settle on a new name for the team, but I suppose "Cajuns" could work.

I thought about doing that, but didn't originally because I wasn't aware of a font that would match well with the Mets' road wordmark. But, since you requested it, I was able to find one that's pretty close (thanks to @Gothamite). I really only needed it for the "J" and the "S," as I replaced the rest of the letters with those present in the actual wordmark. Here's a look: I quite like it, I'm honestly not sure which road jersey I prefer. It feels like they're both valid yet different directions to take the club's identity, either trending towards more modern or traditional. Thanks for the recommendation! Thank you!
  23. Yeah, honestly if anything I probably slightly prefer it to black over white... It just feels fitting for Atlanta, much like the all-navy works for Seattle.
