Houston Astros I tried to inject a bit more "fun" into the Astros' look by adding a tequila sunrise shooting star & sleeve stripes, as well as elevating orange to the primary color over navy.

Detroit Tigers Thicker headspoon striping, and no more white outline on the road jersey.
  3. I like the idea of the powder blue alternate. It’s just weird that on the royal blue alternate, the powder was only on the stripes, and nowhere else. If they wanted to include powder into the color scheme, they should have at least gone all the way & embraced it fully.
  4. I may be late to noticing this, but the Rangers wore their royal blue alternates today, and it appears they have subtly removed the light blue trim from the sleeves. Not sure if this is new or if it’s been the case the last couple of years. Either way, it’s an improvement in my book. new (above) vs. old (below)

Colorado Rockies The color palette is simplified to purple & dark gray, the stripes are made thicker, & I added a snow white alternate to wear at home on occasion.
  6. They really do. Seeing them in action might put them neck & neck with the White Sox for #1 City Connect for me.

Cleveland Guardians I went with a more interesting striping pattern inspired by other Cleveland teams, and made some tweaks to both of the alternates.

Cincinnati Reds Naturally, I got rid of black, and went with a striping pattern reminiscent of the Big Red Machine uniforms, while also adding a pinstriped throwback.
  9. Out of all the City Connect uniforms so far, Boston’s is an interesting case. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I’d say it’s among my favorites, as the bright blue & yellow is refreshing among a sea of navy & red. However, I simply cannot bring myself to divide that from the context that it’s supposedly a Red Sox uniform. @Kg54mvp & @guest23 hit the nail on the head, in that the Red Sox are about as representative of Boston as possible, simply as they are. Maybe I’m biased in already being a baseball fan, but my immediate association with Boston is the Red Sox & Fenway Park. As much as I like the City Connect aesthetically, I don’t think it will ever feel like the Red Sox to me, which is unfortunate. This is a great analysis. Although I don’t like the implementation of the City program into MLB, I think it works best when the uniform still has some resemblance to the team’s main branding. While the White Sox & Astros, two of my favorites out of the program, nearly look like they could be regular alternates, the Red Sox doesn’t look like it’s part of the same team at all. The disconnect between the two is made that much stronger because the Red Sox main brand is already so iconic & inherently associated with the city of Boston on its own. While I understand your point of view, and it’s certainly a compelling idea to have a “secondary brand” that solely focuses on the city, I don’t think it works for me, personally. With the Red Sox example, to me their classic home jersey reflects Boston more than any City Connect ever could. I like the Marathon jersey aesthetically, but I’d say “secondary brand” just reads to me as “competing brand,” diluting the Red Sox traditional identity. If they have to do City jerseys, I much prefer the “middle ground” approach, where teams recognize iconic aspects of their respective city while also still fitting in with the rest of the pre-established brand (I think the White Sox & Angels both succeed at fitting into this camp as well).

Thanks! Thank you! I've always felt the "g" in the Chicago script makes it a bit awkward to put a front number on the jersey, even though they do it in real life. Here's a look, though:

Chicago White Sox I added sleeve stripes onto the home jersey, flipped the colors of the away wordmark, and added a black pinstriped alternate and number font both inspired by their City Connect.

Chicago Cubs A throwback-orientated look for the Cubbies: The thick sleeve striping of the home & alternate jerseys are inspired by the 80's uniforms, and the road jersey is a throwback to the 60's.

Boston Red Sox This is probably borderline sacrilegious, and I wouldn't *necessarily* endorse it for real life, but I couldn't help but employ the not-so-original idea of replacing navy with a Fenway dark green.
  14. I'll admit, I'm a sucker for anything with a retro beach aesthetic, but I honestly might like these more than Colorado. The asymmetrical stripes work better than I would have anticipated, and I really like how the red pairs with the "sand," especially with the front panel of the cap. The logos are definitely more "fun" than their main identity, too. I do agree with @coco1997 though, I don't understand the Angels aversion to gold. I think it'd work much better than silver, adding to the SoCal beach vibe. I would also put the new "A" on the roundel, as opposed to their regular one. I think the City program has thrived so far with teams whose main identity leaves something to be desired, like these Angels, the Rockies, and Houston. For more iconic brands, such as the Red Sox, Dodgers, and Giants, their designs don't really do anything to add to the overall identity, but rather only detract. Overall, the designs are a lot better so far this year than they were last year, I'd say.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you're enjoying it so far! Thank you! I do think the firefighter theme would be a super interesting direction to go with for the Braves identity moving forward. Thank you! I agree that adding some more yellow to the alternates would be an interesting direction, here is my attempt at that: I probably prefer yellow be reserved to an accent color myself, but I wouldn't be upset at all with these, either!

Baltimore Orioles I think the Orioles probably have the most underrated uniforms in baseball, so no real changes beyond some tweaks to the black alternate, and an updated number font.

Atlanta Braves Black replaces navy to align with other Atlanta teams, & the tomahawk is replaced with a firefighter's axe, tying in to the city's history & giving a new meaning to the "Braves" moniker.

Arizona Diamondbacks Brick red, black, & turquoise is now the main color scheme, but the home & away uniforms are now off-white & sand, respectively, to maintain the desert aesthetic.
  19. Hello there, It’s been a couple years since I posted my MLB designs on here, so I figured I’d show my updates to them since then, on a new, cleaner template. I’ll be going alphabetically, posting a new team every day, although I'll start with two teams as I'll post Arizona and Atlanta today. I'll also be posting the designs on Twitter if you'd like to follow along @MJD7Design, as well as showing them all together at this website. MLB x NIKE Refresh AL East Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox New York Yankees Tampa Bay Rays Toronto Blue Jays AL Central Chicago White Sox Cleveland Guardians Detroit Tigers Kansas City Royals Minnesota Twins AL West Houston Astros Los Angeles Angels Oakland Athletics Seattle Mariners Texas Rangers NL East Atlanta Braves Miami Marlins New York Mets Philadelphia Phillies Washington Nationals NL Central Chicago Cubs Cincinnati Reds Milwaukee Brewers Pittsburgh Pirates St. Louis Cardinals NL West Arizona Diamondbacks Colorado Rockies Los Angeles Dodgers San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants City Connect Arizona Diamondbacks Atlanta Braves Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Cincinatti Reds Cleveland Guardians Colorado Rockies Detroit Tigers Houston Astros Kansas City Royals Los Angeles Angels Los Angeles Dodgers Miami Marlins Milwaukee Brewers Minnesota Twins New York Mets Philadelphia Phillies Pittsburgh Pirates San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants Seattle Mariners St. Louis Cardinals Tampa Bay Rays Texas Rangers Toronto Blue Jays Washington Nationals Cooperstown Collection Arizona Diamondbacks Atlanta Braves Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Cincinnati Reds Cleveland Guardians Colorado Rockies Detroit Tigers Houston Astros Kansas City Royals Los Angeles Angels Los Angeles Dodgers Miami Marlins Milwaukee Brewers Minnesota Twins New York Mets New York Yankees Oakland Athletics Philadelphia Phillies Pittsburgh Pirates San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants Seattle Mariners St. Louis Cardinals Tampa Bay Rays Texas Rangers Toronto Blue Jays Washington Nationals City Connect-Inspired Full Sets Cleveland Guardians Miami Marlins Seattle Mariners Tampa Bay Rays Alternate Takes Cincinnati Reds (Away Jersey Adjustment) Miami Marlins Throwback Inspired Set Minnesota Twins Rebrand Guess Rebrand Tweaks Tampa Bay Rays Daytona Tortugas Inspired Set Washington Nationals
  20. Wasn’t that the case a few years ago? I don’t watch the Blue Jays much at all, so I never realized the white panel hats even left.
  21. Keeping in mind my standard disclaimer that I still don’t like the City program being implemented into MLB, the Rockies set is probably my 3rd favorite so far, behind the White Sox & Houston. I like how it is sort of the inverse coloration of a typical baseball uniform, as the white accents on the hat, shoulders, & belt really help the uniform to “pop.” The mountain isn’t too over-the-top either. One thing that does bug me is the inconsistency of color with the cap logo & sleeve patch, compared to the rest of the set. I wish everything was simply green & purple. Speaking of, I really wish the Rockies would dump black & replace it with this green, or simply go purple & silver. It would really do wonders for their set. Once again, even though I like the general design presented here, I wish it was more in-line with their regular set, maybe by using their regular font & not going quite as unique with the logos. With the mountain it obviously could still work as part of their main set. I’ll wait to comment on the Angels once they’re officially revealed, but for now my ranking of the City Connects so far would be: 1. White Sox 2. Houston 3. Colorado 4. Washington 5. Arizona 6. Boston 7. Kansas City 8. Miami 9. San Francisco 10. Cubs 11. Dodgers
  22. Agreed on both counts. The most black I'd be willing to see on the 49ers jersey would be an outline & shadow to the numbers (basically their throwbacks, but with the regular gold pants). Even then, I don't think I'd prefer that to no black at all, even on the helmet logo. It is unfortunate they didn't take this opportunity to update the logo as well. I like the gold swoosh idea too, like you said, subtle and clever. I wouldn't like adding any gold to the jersey beyond that, though, as it inevitably tends to muddy up the look, since red & gold are so close in value.
  23. I was gonna say the exact same thing. I liked that the previous wordmark matched the helmet logo.
  24. Oh for sure, I was just noting the similarities in both having a uniform change the year after a national championship, no matter how big or small. Of course I’m not a Georgia fan, and have no personal investment in their tradition, but to me the Bulldog Bold was the quintessential Georgia uniform, and I’ll miss it.
  25. Count me in the camp of not at all liking the change away from Bulldog Bold to a more basic block. It was a custom font that was subtle and reserved, but still felt unique and fitting for Georgia. It was one of my favorite custom fonts out there, for sure. It's especially odd coming off of a National Championship win in the Bulldog Bold uniforms, it reminds me a bit of Florida State's redesign the year after their 2013 championship.
