Imagine how destroyed UF would get on these boards if they unveiled that helmet today with a print "G" and cursive "ators". They would get Buffaslugged outta here!

Just. Because. There. Is. Is Tradition. Behind. It. Doesn't. Mean. It. Looks. Good.

I think the biggest problem with the UF helmet is that they could do so much that is obviously better than the 'Gators'. UF has that old logo of U above the F with a gator on top of the state of Florida. Really an amazing logo that would look perfect on a white helmet.

  2. Fanatics and Nike are a disaster. Advertisements on the jersey are a disaster. This isn't European soccer. The uniform should be sacred and free from external commercial promotions. Fans should simply boycott the advertisers.

As a Phillies fan it's extremely disappointing that the chain stitching is gone. The cool numbers on the sleeves that was entirely unique to the Phillies are gone. We are getting a totally unnecessary city connect jersey. It's very disappointing that the organization did nothing to stand for the integrity of the jersey.

Seeing the other changes is awful too. You don't think of cool quirks like the trim on the Braves belt loop until they're gone.

What other company can take on the MLB market and save us from Fanatics and Nike? Under Armour? There is so much less competition in this space. In the 90s, you could theoretically have Champion, Wilson, Russell, Nike, Majestic, Reebok, Adidas among others compete in this space.

This would work well for apparel

Agreed. In fact, the football has enough space to where 'Monsters of the Midway' could be placed on there and it'd look great on the backs of sideline jackets and t-shirts.

    It’s pretty over-produced.

It was obviously designed after the head logo, which doesn’t match the body proportions. The tummy whiskers are nonsensical, the overly-detailed spot pattern only serves to point out by contrast how silly the packing peanuts on the head look, and the less said about the blue STD glow emanating from its genitals the better.

    This is a bad logo.

I just looked at a photo of a jaguar on google search and it had the packing peanuts on its head. The 90's Jaguar looks way better than the newer version. It's not even close. It's like comparing the original Miami Dolphin logo to either of the recent updates.

Yeah that's always been bad, I was thinking of this on their black helmet

I don't get the harsh criticism of this logo and I'm a Titans fan who would love to hate the Jaguars if they were actually worth hating. This is a great logo because it's not too simple yet not overly garish/overproduced either as many modern logos are. This looked good in 90s, it looks good now and will look good 30 years from now.

Hot take incoming: this helmet is way better than the standard orange with script Gators

As someone who hates the University of Florida, I have to admit that is a great looking uniform and helmet. Way better than their current set.

The Connecticut Tigers are now the Norwich Sea Unicorns. Their logo is a narwhal. So they could have easily been the Norwich Narwhals, which is good and sounds unique, but Brandiose gotta Brandiose.

Completely agree. Sea Unicorns is totally unnecessary when Narwhals is unique and alliterative. Of course Brandiose just had to have their trademark grimace on the logo with a harpoon bat. They've become so lazy it's crazy. I think it'd be easy to come up with a cool Narwhals logo that didn't fit the Brandiose formula.

  8. Can't stand this. As much as I loved the Trash Pandas, I hate this as much. Osprey was a fine name and yes the logos have been dated to some extent but it is a very unique and beautiful bird. You could create a very classy and timeless package for Osprey. As someone mentioned, Paddlehead almost sounds like an insult.

If they wanted to change to the Moose, that would have been fine too.

This is Brandiose gone too far. I wish more minor league teams would partner with a cool outfit like Simon Studios. Their work for the Redbirds and Tarpons was fantastic. It didn't require a ridiculous name and 20 logos.

  9. I guess I'm one of the few who find the Rocket City Trash Pandas to actually be really good as it ties in the NASA angle with an animal that is extremely common to the area. I typically don't like the over the top Brandiose stuff, but the Trash Pandas is actually very well done. The logos and identity are fantastic. I'll buy three caps and a shirt. I think it's an iconic name/identity and it will not only last but flourish.

For Wichita. I like the Lineman reference, but it seems odd for baseball.  One creative idea I kinda liked was the 'Twisters' thus setting up a natural rivalry with the 'Storm Chasers'. Since it's the Marlins affiliate and Wichita is apparently a big aviation place, the 'Flying Fish' was another suggestion I saw. I think that's pretty good as I like when minor league teams make a subtle connection to the parent squad while creating their own identity. The only issue with that identity is are the Marlins and Wichita going to be together in a decade? The geography doesn't lead one to think it's likely to be a long term partnership and I've got to think Miami would eventually want something in the east and one would think there are other teams that fit Wichita better.

  10. I'm extremely impressed with everything the Corpus Christi Hooks do. Their 70's fauxback set is so good that it's actually better than their actual set. The Blue Ghosts set is executed perfectly. How amazing is the CC logo in that Blue Ghosts set?

I really like the Tarpons set as well. Three of the hats are fine. The light blue doesn't fit the rest of the set. Simon studio did a great job of giving the Tampa team their own identity while it's easy to see it's a Yankees affiliate.

  11. BeerGuy- Hey man I live in Tucson as well.  I'm originally from Nashville, so it's good to see another Preds fan in this town.

I'd love to see Tucson get AAA again but there are a lot of things that work against it as mentioned. The weather is the number one obstacle, extreme heat and the monsoons would present a challenge. Traffic is a nightmare going east to west at all times. Finding a truly convenient location that doesn't inconvenience half your potential customers is an enormous challenge. It's also a very strange town in many ways, easily the most apathetic city I've ever seen. Personally I love the level of complacency as it makes for an extremely pleasant place to live without  the rat race vibe. Unless it's U of A related, it will be difficult to get people excited.  Tucson is its own little world.

Well Cashman Field is going to be converted into a Soccer Stadium here shortly for the new USL team. So they may be homeless before long.

I was in Vegas last week and it was surprising how strongly the 51's were showing their affiliation with the Mets. There were Met posters all over the stadium and all the workers wore Mets gear of some kind.  The sports talk radio guys were saying it is a done deal that the 51's will get a new stadium in Summerlin. Obviously it's absurd to have the Mets in Vegas and surely the 51's would prefer to affiliate with a team that is more regional.

Who's a good fit for Las Vegas? The Padres seem content in El Paso. The Dodgers aren't leaving OKC. The Angels seem entrenched in Salt Lake. I think it'd be great for the Diamondbacks to move down from Reno and try to generate interest in a market that they could hypothetically build a decent fan-base.

There are two main factors to no real push, for a Nashville franchise:

    1. Nashville is pretty content with the Sounds. Tennessee is smack dab in the middle of SEC country, where football reigns supreme. The Predators have done well, to build their fanbase, and I'm not sure how much room the market has for a third big 4 franchise.

    2. Based on my time in Nashville, the city seems to have no real strong allegiance, to any MLB team. If they built a franchise, though, they'd be eating into a significant portion of the secondary markets of three other teams. St. Louis (Memphis, west TN, and western KY), Cincinnati (Louisville and southeastern KY), and Atlanta (eastern TN and Alabama). For a new market to get off the ground, when they'd be taking so much from three others, there needs to be a much greater demand.

I'm a Nashville native so I can tell you that 1. is somewhat true but baseball is a big deal anywhere in the states. A MLB franchise would have lots of support.

Number 2. is true, although the Braves were probably more popular in Nashville than in Atlanta itself in the 90s. Now that they aren't the juggernaut they once were, their level of support has subsided considerably. You are correct that they would be eating into others' secondary territory but I don't really see why the Braves are entitled to East TN or St. Louis is to West TN/KY.  Both of those teams and the Reds for that matter already have plenty of secondary areas to draw from and could still do so from those areas even with a Nashville franchise.  If the Nashville franchise was an American League team, I think there would be no reason they couldn't all coexist.

  14. I'm always amazed Nashville doesn't get more consideration in these talks about relocation for baseball because I think it's clearly the best option. It's a wealthy area, with good sports fans, a  growing population and has strong secondary markets to draw fans from(Memphis, Knoxville,Chattanooga, Louisville, Huntsville, Birmingham).
