  1. The Blues have probably my favorite logo in the NHL, and the Bruins' whole look is gorgeous itself. What a matchup, from an aesthetic standpoint!
  2. They wouldn't have any problems with a name if they had gone with "Larks" like they were going to - or if there were no NBA Rockets.
  3. Bugs works there! I guess he got tired of his bosses...
  4. ITC Benguiat Bold Italic
  5. I wonder how Michael Doret would feel about that...
  6. I don't live in Seattle, but I always really liked the older version of KING's logo:
  7. G. Dean Smith All five of the old-line ABC O&O stations (WABC New York, KABC Los Angeles, WLS Chicago, KGO San Francisco, WXYZ Detroit) used it, and there was a time when it was actually the official logo for the ABC Owned Television Stations division.
  8. Our local station logos have seen better days...
  9. Maybe I'm just defective, but I don't understand what's wrong with the Clippers logo, compared to the Lakers ripoff it replaced and how amateurish slop like the Warriors' look seems to pass without comment.
  10. Funny thing, Safeway actually sold their SoCal stores to Vons, and later bought Vons outright. As for Kroger's naming, people here definitely seem to think of King Soopers as "local."
  11. I'm pretty sure that the trademarks on the Sonics' various logos are still owned by the Thunder.

    New IHOP logo

There's one in Aurora that has. Street View doesn't reflect that yet though.
  13. I'm 22, so I guess I would count as a millennial, but I am a broadcasting enthusiast who's seen examples of NBC referring to the xylophone throughout their history: (notice how that completely skips the Snake and the "N") As recently as 2015, they've also sold merchandise bearing the xylophone logo. The peacock and the xylophone as one logo?
  14. Something like this? I'm not sure I like this. The colors have their appeal but the form is indistinct compared to the xylophone. Thanks for the encouraging words.
  15. Well, how does one properly represent the bird without compromising the feathers?
  16. The original design and its 1979 incarnation (which itself has issues, pertaining mostly to how well it might shrink) did the same thing. Would it not work as the main logo? I admit I have pondered having it play second fiddle to the revised xylophone, but the NBCUniversal corporate rebrand flap a few years ago showed that the peacock is held in very high esteem by the public, and so even pushing it into the supporting cast might hurt the brand.
  17. I tried working my preferred peacock variation into the logo of a local station, comparing it to the current mark:
  18. I personally prefer the five-feather concept and have toyed with the curves some: It doesn't look quite refined to me though... EDIT: This?
  19. I actually had a seven-feathered version drafted: It's from an earlier round of revisions. I put it aside because I didn't think it shrank as well as the five-feathered version.
  20. You think that looks bad? I think it looks pretty well-crafted, honestly. A bit rough but I'm sure you'll find ways to refine it. Having never used Paint.net, does it work like Illustrator or Affinity Designer?
  21. There really isn't anything wrong with the current mark, except I always thought the actual bird's shape was a bit ambiguous. So I decided to toy with a new take on it that brought out the bird more: With the reduction to five feathers from six, the colors needed to be reduced, so I decided to call back to the old xylophone logo's RGB pattern - and have even included an updated xylophone mark in the set (the one-color version is included for the curious): From a practical perspective, I admit I'm not a huge fan of the peacock and would much rather use something like the xylophone mark (immediately understood by most of the audience) or the "Snake" logo (visual appeal), but I know the peacock has too much equity to shove off the main stage. And here is how my peacock would hold up to a glossy texture, if the client so wanted it for, say, a social media avatar (it's meant to refer to this rendering of the current mark): I like the geekiness of how the "living color" is now rendered in a way that more overtly alludes to the technology behind color pictures, but is it at the expense of the appeal of the peacock?
  22. What's the best place to show off one's work? Behance? Tumblr? A personal site? What are the best things to show off? I considered putting some of my concept work into my portfolio, but I worry about running into issues with trademarks and potentially misleading clients...

I actually had a version of that that was adjusted but I put it aside after wondering what the point of it was: If I were to pursue this further, it would need adjustment.

I adjusted the colors some and whipped up a one-color version as well:
