You know, I’ve been trying to come up with a good NHL team name for Milwaukee and I thought Hunters/Huntsmen was great until my buddy pointed out having the Hunters and Bucks in the same arena would be weird considering one kills the other. I’m excited to see what your Hunters concept looks like, because it may work.

I've come to the conclusion that I like the St. Louis logo more than I did at initial glance (it looks better to me in the version that was published as their twitter handle photo rather than the 3D-ish version on the reveal show), but that the name "Warbirds" would have gotten across the same message as "BattleHawks" but without sounding contrived - and it would have played better into the aviation theme better than the actual name.
The logo on twitter:
Bend the top feathers up a little bit and you could have a hidden W for WarBirds. They really missed the mark on that one

I don't like that it appears to have two DC's stacked on top of each other, with the way those bolts come together. If they fleshed out that in-bolt DC, they could do away with the dopey DC at the bottom of the shield.
Yeah they are doing the same thing as explaining a joke here. That should have just been an Easter egg

The BattleHawks is a terrible name. The logo is fine, a bit generic, but it’s safe. What really gets me is they could have gone with WarBirds, which could use the same branding and everything, but is actually a term people have used. A BattleHawk isn’t a thing

Gonna be honest I liked the thinner “stripes” from the older designs but more importantly, I think you have begun to lose some of the D and made it look more like an O.
It might be worth your time to take away some of the vertical line on the right to create more negative space where the eye is, and maybe move the “eyebrow” down further to make it more of a D. Just one guy’s opinion though.
This is by far the strongest Detroit Tigers concept I have seen in a long, long time, possibly ever. You do some great work
