Personally, I think the silver helmet sticks out from the main color scheme of the uniform and makes it unbalanced. I think a black helmet would look much better. If you take out the helmet, the main colors of the combo are blue and black, and when the helmet is added, it throws too much silver into the uniform and takes away from the blue/black scheme. Also, the formula is for any uniform to look good where it contains 3 separate colors for the helmet, jersey, and pants. However, it is not saying only these types of combos are the only way for a uniform to look good, just that if a 3 color combo wants to look good it must fall under one of the combinations listed in the formula. In the formula, A is any random variable color, B is any other random variable color, W is white, and G is grey.

I absolutely agree. Without white or grey/silver, most teams are excluded anyways, and the remaining teams would look poor. I can think of a possible Notre Dame gold/green/blue, which would look miserable. Washington with a black/purple/gold? Of all the combos I can come up with, none look good without the formula.

Although this is an update of a defunct logo, the University of Kentucky's Wildcat from 1989 to 1994 was a wildcat reaching over the interlocking "U" and "K". This logo was, however, reviewed critically due to the mascot having a tongue shaped like a certain inappropriate body part. An update in 1994 saw the wildcat change to gold fur and made the tongue less phallic, which is a great upgrade in my eyes. This was also the wildcat logo I experienced growing up, and it holds a dear place in my heart from when I was a child. Here are the 2 logos.

I love those Browns jerseys and absolutely despise they went away from them. I wouldn't say all uniforms with less than 3 elements of color are bad, but I will say I prefer at least 2 to monochrome. I think only football really has this opportunity though, because basketball only really has 2 parts, and baseball pants are always either white or grey. Not sure about hockey though. I love these Falcons uniforms though, and another great example is my high school's football jerseys.

Color on Color Matchups in Football
bluegrasswildcat replied to bluegrasswildcat's topic in Sports Logo General Discussion
The Color Rush was a bit overboard for me as well. The monochrome everything just looked poor at times. If genuine color vs. color matchups happened, it would absolutely make the league more visually interesting. A Broncos and Chargers version of this would look absolutely stunning. Both of these matchups are beautiful. Plus, there is enough contrast to clearly identify each team as well, so I don't see why it doesn't happen more. -
What are some of the most recent or the best color on color matchups you have seen in sports? One specific matchup I would love to see is Kentucky vs. Tennessee in football where both teams wore their home uniforms. Personally, I just love the 2 colors together and think a color on color game would look amazing with the complementary blue and orange. Sadly, I don't know if anyone else wants this to happen or if it is even legal. You can't tell me that wouldn't be a great looking game. Obviously, the NBA has many of these games as well as soccer and to a lesser extent baseball, and I am not knowledgeable about hockey much, so maybe stick to football for this thread, both for college and pro. I want to see more of these games!

Redeeming Qualities of Bad Uniforms

I also think the 06-12 jerseys do the best job of including the same proportions of white and yellow as the helmet. The newer and older jerseys have equal amounts of white and yellow on the shoulder stripes, but the piping, as ugly as it is, almost looks like an abstraction or adaptation of the Viking horn onto the shoulder and side of the jersey.
