Interesting tidbit but on the Lions Instagram the graphic story they have posted for the alternate says the uniform is a call-back to what they wore in the "late 90s, early 2000s."

Not shocked, but disappointed the team wouldn't be able to tell a tighter, more attentive narrative, because nothing about it calls back to the late 90s at all.

Calling it a "mid 2000s, 0-16" throwback isn't exactly good marketing.

  2. First impressions: goddamn, the Lions (almost) did it! They did a great job with this. Going off the revealed combos, this is what they should wear.

    Silver/Blue/Silver/Blue

    Silver/White/Blue/White

    Throwback

(And if they have to wear BFBS, then Blue/Black/Blue/Black)

I hope to god we see White on Silver with Blue socks at some point, but I'm worried it's not gonna happen. And considering we didn't see Blue on Blue at all, I have some hope that the Blueberry won't be seen.

From the rest of the revealed combos, the less Black on Black and White on White we see, the better.

The website makes it sound like the blue jersey will only be pared with the silver pants. Let’s hope that’s true… I have my doubts.

Appears to look like it. The Black jersey shows Black and Blue pants, and the White jersey shows Blue and White pants.  The Blue just shows Blue over Silver.

Looks like a pretty convincing leak came out for the Broncos, but I'm not sure if its actually legit. Metallic royal blue helmet, silver facemask, orange throwback jersey. Would line up with rumors about a throwback look too.

As for the Jets, no complaints from me. They made the changes they needed to keep the look fresh and new. The small tweaks to the logo make a huge difference.

The way the rule is written makes it seem like the Saints have to revert from this nasty design:

A major win, if true. And perhaps they reclassify an all black design as Color Rush if they want to keep the black helmet, similar to what the Panthers did. I don’t see any reason the current Color Rush can’t stick around strictly as a throwback, perhaps with period appropriate black striped socks. It’s more just reshuffling the classifications than anything else.

Not necessarily. The Saints Color Rush is a Color Rush. It may be based on a Throwback but it's not really a fully era-accurate Throwback. If it had Gold Pants, lacked the flour-de-lis on the pant stripe, and used the correct block number font, then it would be a Throwback.

  6. Wow. Can't say I'm surprised at the news, but hoped it would be a long time before it would happen. Oh NFL, you never cease to surprise us. What a slippery slope it was in exchange for the return of so many Throwbacks.

When I saw the news, I instantly thought of @oldschoolvikings. He's been warning us for years that if the one helmet rule were to ever be overturned, things would lead to this.

I'll say that it's good that Primary Uniforms still require the Primary Helmet, but that's bound to change soon at this current rate. Over/under on three years by the time it's a free-for-all on mixing and matching Helmets and Jerseys.

The biggest issue with the new twins look is dropping this beauty!! All it needed was a couple tweaks.

Minnie and Paul still live at Target Field, but yeah, I agree, they should still be on the uniform.

In fact, when the did the rebrand and renovations to the stadium, they actually reverted back to the 1976-1986 version of the logo with the 2002-2022 Minnie and Paul replacing the older version of them. So it's really a hybrid of two logos.

A lot of the hate for the new M logo is due to the fact that a lot of online fans wanted the old M logo back, even though it wouldn't fit with the rest of the brand. This is because a large percentage of online fans were born in the 90s and are therefore obsessed with everything looking like it did in the 90s.

In other 2024 baseball uniform news today, Nike gave us the lowdown on their new retail jersey options. For the first time in a while, there will be more than just the on-field authentic and replicas offered to fans, as they've added a third in-between option.

The on-fields will be called the Vapor Premier Elite -- they are not yet available; the mid-tier (the only ones available to purchase right now) are the Vapor Premier Limited, and the cheapy replicas (also not yet available) are the Vapor Premier Game.

Why aren't the game jerseys called "Game"? I don't know.

Funny enough, it's the sane naming scheme as Nike's NFL jerseys. Game, Limited, and Elite.

On the addition of a middle-level retail jersey, interesting. Afaik, that's never been a thing in Baseball, just an NFL thing with Replica, Premiere, and Authentic, which became Game, Limited, and Elite when Nike took over in 2012. Does Nike have something against the word "Replica" at all?

It takes years for this process to be completed. We’ve known for years about the Texans, Broncos, and Lions new uniforms coming in 2024

I’m more skeptical on the  Seahawks and Titans rumors this late in the process coming from out of nowhere recently. I’m thinking we see new alternate uniforms and helmets for the Seahawks and Titans, not wholesale changes.

Seahawks Prediction: A silver alternate helmet with the current logo (via logo swap with throwback helmet) as a nod to the past that could be paired with Wolf Gray pants and jerseys. Mono-Wolf Gray anyone?

Titans Prediction: Id guess a white alternate helmet with the T-Sword Ball & Stars alternate logo that can be paired with the Columbia blue alternate jersey for an Oilers-esqe look (as the Texans adopt H-Town blue lol)

The Seahawks scrapped their Grey jersey and the Titans scrapped their Columbia Blue jersey when they introduced their Throwbacks, so both of those predictions can't happen.

  10. Saw this on YouTube. Really good video. With over 266K views and 7.7K likes, it seems like a lot of folks have, or are being swayed, to our side of NFL uniform discourse. The comments are real good too in how much support they have for the video. The creator really knows their stuff like us, and even mentions Uni-Watch and The GUD too.

  11. It's that time of the year everyone! Another year of uniform speculation, teases and announcements is about to be upon us. Based on what's been announced and stated, we should be having three uniform changes upon us this spring.

    • The Houston Texans
    • The Detroit Lions

    and...

    • The Denver Broncos

The New York Jets have also reached the end of the "five-year rule" and are now also eligible for a redesign, but there's been no word on if that's gonna happen. And it also sadly appears that the Tennessee Titans won't be changing, entering year SEVEN with their hideous clownsuits.

The Colts throwbacks are pointless because they're barely different than their current uniforms, their current uniforms are already a long-time established classic, and they're simply an inferior version to what they usually wear.

Shoulda just brought back the Blue Helmets for the Throwback, instead of wasting their Alt Helmet spot on the pointless and stupid Black Helmet. spacer.png

So are these new blue panther pants? If I recall, they wore blue pants with the original color rush run and those had the panther head on the hips IIRC.

The Pants logo was removed from all of their pants as a consequence of switching from the old Reebok template to the Nike Vapor Untouchable template in 2019, after David Tepper took over the team.
