  1. I'm fine with NC's general design (though the keystone-like serifs on the cap logo don't really match anything else on the jersey) but I can't get behind not using blue at all. Even making powder blue the base of the jersey and keeping everything else the same would work. Blue is such an intrinsic part of NC sports that even though plenty of states use blue you could opt for a mid-tone blue (similar to Oklahoma or Utah on your map or the Carolina Panthers) and it would feel right at home and stand out amongst the rest of the Southeast. I understand why you went for red, but the Canes and NC State are so insignificant (no offense) compared to the history of some shade of blue. I also get what you're doing with Oregon but the royal blue plaid isn't working for me - it's fighting a lot with the navy. Maybe instead try a more sublimated version of it with a darker shade of navy? I love the cap logo though, that's really nice and the shade of teal is great. I agree with coco about adding a front number to MS. Excellent set besides that, great colors and I love the font + logo pair. Quick edit because I got hit with inspiration: You could, instead of swapping red for blue, try swapping black for blue. Keep the unique emphasis on red but tie furthermore into the state instead of only representing one single university.
  2. Yeah, black/dark-colored pants don't become so out-of-the-box or whatever Seattle said when a significant chunk of teams are wearing it. Contrasting colored socks would also go a long way for teams like the O's and Rangers.
  3. Not big on the Maryland flag pathway. It's boring and overdone, I'd rather see an Old Bay/Charm City design. For what it is the jersey is solid, is that the number font from your MLB Redesign series? I'm still not the biggest fan of it.
  4. A jersey where where the only way you can see the design is to wear it without every button done (you know, the wrong way to wear a baseball jersey) is stupid. Interesting high concept that should've been shelved after the eye test.
  5. Loving the trophy icon and the patterns in the 26. If this was the direction FIFA went with it would be one of the best World Cup logos in recent memory. Only one tweak maybe, try the FIFA text in black? It might stand out a little better.
  6. I feel like the direction this is heading is this: the Coyotes stay in Mullet for a few more years (til the end of their contract at least, maybe an extra year) while they try and get Mesa working. If Mesa doesn't happen, then I think finally they'll be moved. This gives the Yotes another chance (I know, I know) while also giving cities like SLC or Atlanta or whatever an opportunity to put together proper arenas. It's not what I would do if I was in control but the owners of the Coyotes did put big money into them and probably aren't going to give up when there's even a slight chance of them being able to make it work.
  7. I actually think this direction had potential - I really like the Los Angeles logo with the way it incorporates a city-specific graphic into the 26. If every other city had followed this template then you can save the city logos. Simplify the trophy (obviously, that decision can't be justified in any universe) and give the three countries their own logos as well. The primary logo can be a combination of the three country logos. Then there you go, you've got your logo system while still creating an appealing brand.
  8. I generally agree what you posit in this post but genuinely what's the difference here? Why would a Dallas-Houston rivalry not happen but KC-STL would?
  9. Yeah, that's not as good as I was hoping. Good call on toning down the red, too.
  10. Nice change for Cincy. Any chance we could see a color swapped version with a red base and black text?
  11. You're doing great work here! I honestly think you've hit the area where the concept is so good that there's nothing to say. I really love that Capitals one, looking forward too the rest of the series!
  12. They're not celebrating 35 seasons, they're celebrating 35 years since the Hornets began play.
  13. The thing that bothers me most about that logo is that it's specifically celebrating the first season of the Hornets but has the multicolor double pinstripes, which wasn't introduced until the mid-90s. Sloppy work and a reminder of how dull the brand has gotten since the team's return.
  14. The past two years Food City/Tide/Gain had sponsored the 43 (and 42) in the Dirt Race and it seems like this year they moved to Kaulig. I'd expect to see them again next year, but probably not for any other race.
  15. Overall I think that's a solid first set but there are some things I'm not huge on. The inconsistent strokes are the biggest one. The number has all three colors, the helmet logo has no stroke, the helmet stripe has only one stroke, and the yoke doesn't seem to follow either rule? It's definitely one of those 2000s football uniforms and I actually dig the unique yoke, I'd just want more consistency. I am disappointing to see there are no gold pants. I also think the crosses in that London Monarchs wordmark are supposed to be St. George's Cross, from the flag of England, but they feel "royal" enough that I think they make a neat touch. Overall I think there's a really strong foundation with lots of potential for improvement just given the design sensibilities of the era. Looking forward to how the brand evolves!
  16. The black pants look terrible. White pants were the way to go and I hope that soon like Colorado and the Dodgers Seattle comes to their senses.
  17. I'm personally in favor of ending the Coyotes experiment but I do think that had there been ideal conditions (downtown, quality stadium, competitive team) Arizona could've just as easily been a Sun Belt success. Of course, that's not at all what happened and now I'm afraid the NHL well is poisoned when it comes to the Phoenix market. Just call it quits and stop losing money. Houston for the easy move, Quebec City if you want a guaranteed success.
  18. Caleb Williams is that guy. He's incredible. He's got an insane arm, great vision, he's got all the traits of a star. He's not even "immature", he's 21. He's still in college, he's allowed to be a little goofy. The biggest "controversy" was when he painted "F*** UTAH" on his fingernails before the PAC-12 Championship Game, which I've got absolutely zero problem with. He's a competitor, through and through. Any team would be lucky to have him.
  19. I would assume so. It's the NHL's default for three-word teams to just use their initials so Vegas got VGK. If they had been the Las Vegas Golden Knights it might've LVK? I'm not sure. In an ideal world it would be LV no matter what.
  20. The NBA team never changed their abbreviation. When they were the original Hornets they used CHA, when they were the Bobcats they used CHA, and now as the modern Hornets they use CHA. I've had the debate over whether or not this should be the abbreviation they use but it's not like the team ever changed it. It's just that, for whatever reason, BB Ref gives each different version of the team its own abbreviation.
  21. Forcing three-letter abbreviations is one of my biggest pet peeves. The NHL is awful about it. A team's abbreviation should be entirely based on the geographic name unless two teams share the same geographic name. TBL -> TB VGK -> VGS LAK -> LA CBJ -> CBS NJD -> NJ This isn't related to any particular league but the abbreviations on the pro sport reference websites absolutely kill me. NWE? KAN? GNB? TAM? CHO? It drives me nuts.
  22. I love everything about this except the gold NW on the compass. It's distracting and muddies the patch on the white and gray jerseys. Everything else is excellent and would be a great update for the Mariners. Nice work!
  23. I know that there's a reason that NFL teams aren't wearing dazzle fabric. I'm just personally of the opinion that it could be done - that Vegas gold jersey means that there's at least one team that's willing to go for it. If I were in charge of an NFL team that should be wearing shiny pants (Saints, 49ers, Lions) I'd be asking for it. Maybe teams have asked and it's just doable with current materials. But until someone just comes out and says that I'll be wanting dazzle fabrics back. Oh, also, here's Nike using it, from the Celtics' 75th anniversary jerseys: So there's some progress on that front.
  24. Ok, here's adidas using reflective trim on football uniforms (which, I'll admit, is not dazzle fabric but it's something): It's also absolutely not just trim on hockey uniforms:
  25. Adidas, in the NHL: They just started reintroducing it and it looks great. No reason Nike can't do the same.
