What If Every MLB Team Kept Its Original Look? (Houston Colts 2/26)
seasaltvanilla replied to coco1997's topic in Concepts
Don't San Franciscans generally not like "San Fran"? And it feels odd to have a nickname on a classic look jersey.- 119 replies

First thought was Iowa City.

I've been really missing those UCLA stripes the past few months. Especially with the thick pant stripes it's a muscular look.

Hard miss.

I always liked the db snake head, wouldn't mind seeing that back.

PWHL Branding and Uniforms 2023-24

Not a high bar to clear, but I like my 2 hour late night idea better. -
I couldn't help thinking during the World Series that the Diamondbacks should flip the red and black on their wordmark and back numbers. It feels more southwestern to me.
-
I took the purple off their Threads icon but the it doesn't actually match the purple on their Instagram profile, which does have more red in it. Updated and agree it looks better. Good feedback on the stars for the pants, I didn't think of that. And a larger image of the logo:

Idea that came into my head last night. I'm pretending that the name has Hockey Club as a suffix to make it more palatable and less Wild. If the Minnesota PWHL team is leaning into the Lake Superior imagery, probably the most famous landmark on the North Shore is Split Rock Lighthouse, which forms the basis for the main logo. The Little Dipper also hangs in the sky with Polaris serving double duty as the light bloom from the lighthouse. Purple has already been strongly hinted to be the primary color, which pairs well with sky blue to represent Lake Superior. Wavy striping also ties into the lake, as well as being a nod to the former Whitecaps. Putting even more waves on the breezers seemed like overkill, so I went with a slightly out there enlarged lighthouse instead.

If you added Hockey Club and squinted I think Minnesota Superior HC is salvageable. Boston Wicked gave me gallstones. -
Love old school hockey Goldy.

Beautiful uniform match-up between the Twins and Athletics tonight.
-
It haunts me how well the Carolina Twins identity works and makes me irrationally fearful of relocation. Oklahoma City "Marlins" is also just a gorgeous design.

I think the main issue with the Wild's current scheme is the red. They clearly struggle with it since it's dark and doesn't contrast well with the dark green, as seen by its almost complete exclusion from the home uniform, because you are essentially always forced to have the cream separating them. And people love the bright pop of color of the kelly green. So we have a dark color that's hard to use and a bright color that people like and connects to the history of hockey in the market. Two plus two equals... Partially inspired by @Patchey13's concept, although I went with it more aggressively. The forest green is darkened from the original to aid with contrast and legibility, but bringing in the kelly green allows for much more flexibility with the color palette, as well as creating a more natural connection with the fauxbacks. And you get away from Christmas colors. Sorry to do the whole concept thing. It's frustrating that the Wild have the ingredients for a great identity but seem stuck in a creative rut of not fully utilizing them.
-
If they do switch I hope they make the numbers green on the white jersey. Yellow on white is harder to read in motion.
-
Also found it annoying that they had a gold out at the stadium and dressed the players in all maroon. Mostly because the gold jersey is a) gorgeous and b) is still the original Jerry Kill version and hasn't been Fleckified.
-
Unless my eyes deceive me it's built off the Twins' old shoulder patch.
-
Because then you have to either choose between this: or this
-
In three years these will be the Wolves uniforms that people say "oh, yeah, I forgot about those" about.
-
What about leaning into the double green further and replacing all red with light green?

Real snoozer of a logo from Vegas.
