NHL Anti-Thread: Bad Business Decision Aggregator
FCMacbeth replied to The_Admiral's topic in Sports In General
Why would ESPN make an article that consists of players whining about not being able to do their favourite activities? Is playing NHL 21 not enough for them? -

They have Seattle in the Western conference, so relocation without realignment is possible. -

Or they didn't use the money properly? I mean, even if it were rich, that money isn't always guaranteed to spend well. Either way, Arizona needs an owner change or risk relocation. -

Is there any reason to not pay players on time? -
Simon Fraser University Drops Clan Nickname
FCMacbeth replied to SportsLogos.Net News's topic in Sports Logo News
Don't forget me and my limited awareness of Scottish clans. As for the last part, it mirrors what happened to the R-word. People who claimed to be 'Native American' try to take this slur as a badge of honour. Well, it would have been if not for the newspapers back in the mid-19th century! What it's supposed to be a simple identification of Natives in general is now turned into a pejorative word used to refer to them doing bad things. And sure, 90% of them won't give a single damn about it. But you'll still see other people who think the nickname is now an outdated, racial slur. Yet, when you look at the comments on Youtube about this issue, you won't know if the commenters in the comment sections are really Native American (or at least have ancestral blood to any Native tribes). At any point, it's probably racist white gammons pretending to be part of an ethnic group when they shouldn't be. The difference between the Clan and the R-word is that the former has more than one meaning, while the latter just refers to one group of people. In a horrible way. -

Well, with the possible nickname being 'Clansmen', I'd probably imagine black athletes getting lynched in front every spectator in the seats. The word 'Clan' is pretty much ruined thanks to deep association with racism in general. As for me, when I look at the word itself, in historical terms I think of Scottish families being clan-based. However, you and me know that 'clan' also refers to you-know-who. It's not just one meaning because there is historical context between Scottish history and American history. -

Malaysian here, I've been taught about the KKK a bit when I did Year 11 history. Now that I think about it, the name 'clan' didn't fit well like I initially thought. Especially the Glasgow Clan of the UK's EIHL. -
In before an ass ton of gammons came in to :censored: on this decision.

What the :censored: tub of :censored: logic is this?

Can I make a suggestion? How about holding a naming contest for a new rivalry game? Winner gets seasons tickets to see the Oregon-Oregon State games?

It is still Chicago's logo, though. He may as well remove the Florian cross altogether.

Little Things that Bug You in Sports Uniforms

I'm more of a person who identifies the players by their name rather than their numbers. It's much easier with words at least for me. -

I'm not a basketball fan to begin with, but if the wordmark not derived from the city or team name HAS SOMETHING to do with the city that they played in that's fine by my standards. Just for the record, I wonder how the Raptors' city edition jersey would look if it said 'TORONTO' instead of 'NORTH'. -
Do you want to redesign the Original 6 teams from the beginning? Do you want to design an expansion team jersey as if they were during the pre-Original 6 era? If you say YES to any of these questions, this template is truly FOR YOU!
