  1. My first High School in White Swan, Washington on the Yakama Indian Reservation copied the Washington State University Cougars with the name and the "COUGARS" cursive script that they used to use when Ryan Leaf and Drew Bledsoe went to Pullman for school.  We used scarlet red and black uniforms with white helmets that had the cougar script.  My senior year I went to a new high school in Idaho called the Middleton Vikings.  We used royal and gold with the Minnesota Vikings head logo as the school emblem.  On our yellow helmets & royal baseball caps we had an old english M for middleton.    I am not certain but I think that in the 80's early 90's they may have used blue helmets with the white Minnesota Vikings horns.

At least they gave up the charade and stopped making them put on football equipment and pretend to play a tackle football game. That's progress.

I didn't have any interest so I didn't watch. I also didn't watch the NHL All-Star Game either so I wasn't discriminating against just the NFL. I think I've just grown out of all star exhibitions, but my nephew seemed to love all the minigames. He's 10. That's who this is for.

The only All Star game that still interests me is the MLB All Star game.  The rest I outgrew them along time ago.

This might be my least-favorite recurring idea on the board. The Houston Oilers are dead. The Houston Texans have their own identity. Deal with it.

No you deal with it! The Oilers are Houston and that is where they belong.

That's a hard no. You don't want a wife that's so indulgent of your obsessions she's willing to let you make a complete jackass out of yourself in public. Someone needed to be the adult in the room, and it sure wasn't going to be this nimrod.

(Plus, it's not even the throwback helmet, which would be marginally more forgivable.)

What is stupid about this is what if years from now he no longer likes the NFL?  Or worse he is no longer a Dolphins fan?  As big of a sports fan I am I would never do this it is too over the top and looks goofy.

There's no reason they couldn't do both, they could easily go with an 80s or even 70s-style jersey but brown instead of black.

c'mon Panthers @ Lightning Stadium Series, the one-night only return to the ThunderDome; I don't even care that it wouldn't even be outdoors! :P

They could try Marlins Park that has a retractable roof if they are concerned about the heat and in the case of Tampa the old Trop where they use to play.

Cool fashion jerseys but why do they have to be worn on the ice?

Imagine if they played Tampa in those. The Lightning would look more like the Leafs than the Leafs themselves

Oh well. Gotta please the zoomer part of the fanbase I guess

Edit: I really hate the hollow numbers trend, though. Those look bad and are so hard to see on TV

It is kind of like when the Toronto Blue Jays went black jays on us for awhile.

The Jazz make me sad. I truly think thier rebranding is coming from a good place, and something needed to be done, but playing Columbus Crew dress-up is far from the answer. Not even close to it, really.

This team’s brand has fallen so far from the one I grew up with and loved. There used to be no doubt what they were: they were a solidly purple team who had a “New Orleans era” and a “Utah era”. It really was as simple as that. Fast forward 20 years and consider all of the in-between along the way, and they look like a team devoid of a brand or a personality altogether.

Rooting for a team who reeks of false promise and underachievement every single year is frustrating enough; add a crumbling brand that’s difficult to be proud of or connect with on top of that, and it’s almost a joke altogether. I’ll always be a Jazz fan, but right now I’m a frustrated one. I don’t know what this team wants to be or what it’s trying to achieve in so many aspects.

At this point the Jazz might as well change the name and the entire direction of the franchise with going this route.  I used to be a Jazz fan growing up but I got tired of the constant change of identity.  Then I moved to Phoenix in 05' that had an NBA team and moved on as a Suns fan ever since.

Ryan Smith looks like the type of rich douche who wears plain $500 “luxury” t shirts and baseball caps and desperately wants to look cool. Wade isn’t going to care about the history of the Jazz as much  as what can look good on the runways and black is always a fashionable color. I would be shocked if the Jazz didn’t have a black primary if their color scheme is black/white/yellow

The Jazz are the Canucks and Padres of NBA.  They can't freaking decide on an identity and stick with it long term.  Although it looks like the Padres might have finally figured it out.

Players need to wear the right size pants that actually go down to the knee, not these excuses for biker shorts like by Trevor Lawrence. And fields.

My biggest pet peeve of the latest uniform trends are the guys that wear an oversized undershirt below their jersey that comes out of the bottom of the jersey.  It looks like a bailarina skirt.   Tuck in your undershirt or wear a shorter undershirt please!  These come out looking like they are at practice.

THIS is the Bengals' best road look.  Those black socks do so much to bring out the rest of the black. I still would like to see a tad bit more orange, but as is, I can rock with this--as long as they keep this with black socks, this should be be default away look.

That said, now I have an issue with their home look, so let's see how things go as the season progresses...

The Bengals new road uniforms have become one of my favorite in the entire league.  I hope next year they adopt an alt white helmet to use with the all white look.

100% agree that green matches the area well (lots of forests all across the state), but as I’ve said before, I feel like the redrock only represents a part of the state rather than the whole thing. The color scheme looks very out of place when compared to the Wasatch Front, and it’s one of the reasons it has never really meshed with me (and this is coming from someone whose father’s family hails from southern Utah - I have lots of ties to the region and love it).

One of the reasons I really loved the color scheme of the Finals teams was that it looked like it represented the whole state - purple, sky blue, and teal evoked the mountains, snow, and forests well, and copper was a great “catch all” color that evoked the deserts well (in addition to nodding to the state’s copper industry). You could argue too that the color scheme’s similarities to the early Diamondbacks gave the scheme a versatility that allowed it to look “mountain” and “southwest” all at once.

I think if the Jazz are going to truly represent the state in color and brand, they have to strike a balance like the 90’s scheme did. Doesn’t necessarily have to be the same exact colors, but the approach needs to cater to the diverse geography of the state rather than a part of it. The double blue color scheme that followed suffered from being much more “generic cold weather team” than its predecessor and excluding southern Utah, and the redrock color scheme suffers a similar problem in reverse: a scheme that, while referencing redrock country, is still somewhat generically “hot” and excludes the Wasatch Front.

I agree with all of this.  Jazz missed a golden opportunity when they went away from the finals uniforms for the sake of change.  I grew up in Northern Utah until age 12 before we moved all over the west before settling in Boise (during the back to back finals years). I have been in Arizona since 2005.  I would like to see the Jazz go back to something like that that represents the entire state.

When people talk about teams with identity crises, I don't think enough people mention the Cavs. They've got a trainwreck of a brand, with multiple eras of different colors and even nowadays with navy and black competing unnecessarily. That first picture with the 2000s LeBron era is fantastic, the Cavs never should've gone away from that.

I feel like the Utah Jazz also have an identity crisis.  They can't decide what colors they want to stick with long term or if they want to appease Jazz culture or go with regional uniforms like the purple mountain or southern Utah.  Their city edition is a solid identity and I wonder if they should roll with that long term.

    Now it is official:

It would be better if the Suns went with more regional Sonoran tribes: Pima, Tohono, Yaqui, San Xavier, Gila, Maricopa etc.  Aztecs don't identify at all with Arizona or neighboring Sonora across the border.   Aztec identifies stronger with Southern Mexico.

New era would never lose the mlb contract, they’d rather put so much money into keeping it they go out of business rather than lose that contract.

I won't buy an NHL hat because NE no longer makes them.  If I can find an American needle or M & N for NHL I would buy it.  If MLB dumps NE they would lose a crap ton of sales from fans.

  15. Just put the horns back together again as one horn, maybe move them inward on the front of the helmet like a real ram, get rid of the hello my name is name tag on jerseys, get rid of gradients and then you have an awesome uniform set.

Same goes for Reverse Retro NHL jerseys. I seriously hope they make another batch available or that some teams keep their RR as permanent 3rd jerseys cause I missed out on getting a blue Habs jersey and all my girlfriend could find was a counterfeit. I can't blame her, her intentions were good and she didn't know any better but damn it was hard not to look ungrateful when I opened the package cause it really looked like garbage 😕

That sucks.  I think we are in an era where the companies want everything to be "limited" and gone versus having stock to the point where they have to put it on sale one day when uniforms change.  Look at how the MLB city connect jerseys flew off the shelves in a week online?  Even the boring Red Sox and Cubs ones flew off the shelves in days.

Unfortunately the knockoff market has been booming for years now because the sports leagues and retail shops charge outrageously over inflated prices for a piece of clothing.

Granted, the authentics are of really nice quality but, IMO the quality still doesn't warrant a $300++++ dollar price tag. The reason the leagues, manufacturers, and retail stores charge as much as they do is because they can. There's no justifying these prices for what is essentially only a shirt but, someone is always willing to fork over the cash.

Another issue is that Nike/Fanatics is not putting out enough jerseys.  For example its dang near impossible to buy a San Diego Padres jersey that is a blank replica and or if it has Tatis on it.  I have a feeling DH Gate is gonna start making a killing on Padres jerseys with the terrible inventory/logistics on behalf of Nike/Fanatics.   Even alot of Vapor jerseys are hard to find depending on the player or the debacle last year on people that order the new Rams jerseys didn't get them till nearly Christmas when they had ordered the jerseys after the unveiling.
