  1. There have been rumblings in the past about both UTRCV and Grand Canyon adding football, which would go a long way in helping the WAC (Both are currently members). https://www.themonitor.com/2018/08/08/utrgvs-football-feasibility-study-reveals-potential-benefits-pitfalls/ https://www.wmicentral.com/sports/local_sports/grand-canyon-university-adds-football-to-expanded-sports-roster---exploratory-meetings-indicate-strong/article_887923c4-783a-5f3b-a9cc-5a327e5d1baf.html
  2. Public schools in Louisiana are always in financial trouble. I seem to remember a proposal to drop football at LSU as a tactic to get more higher ed funding a few years ago.
  3. Well, Fox News has tainted the name for a decent-sized chunk of Americans.
  4. This feels like a good time to bring up the OG military themed branding, although they wore regular unis.
  5. With MLS looking to re-start their Reserves' League again, I figured I'd put together a plan for the future of the USL. Championship East Birmingham Legion FC Charleston Battery Detroit City FC (From NISA) Hartford Athletic Indy Eleven Louisville City FC Memphis 901 FC North Carolina FC Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC Queensboro FC (Planned 2022 Expansion) Rhode Island United (Planned 2022 Expansion) Tampa Bay Rowdies West Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC El Paso Locomotive FC FC Tulsa Las Vegas Lights FC New Mexico United Oakland Roots SC (Planned 2021 Expansion) Oklahoma City Energy FC Orange County SC Phoenix Rising FC Reno 1868 FC San Antonio FC San Diego Loyal SC League One Northeast Buffalo Bruisers (Planned Championship Expansion) Guardians FC (Expansion to Cleveland) Long Island Rough Riders (Promotion from League Two) Lord Baltimore SC (Expansion) New Hampshire FC (Planned 2022 Expansion) Ocean City Nor'Easters (Promotion from League Two) Portland United (Planned Expansion) Rochester Rhinos (Planned 2021 Expansion) Southeast Chattanooga Red Wolves SC Duval FC (Expansion to Jacksonville) Greenville Triumph SC Hampton Roads United (Expansion) Miami FC (Self-Relegation from Championship) Richmond Kickers South Georgia Tormenta FC West Virginia Alliance FC (Promotion from League Two) Central Brazos Valley Cavalry FC (Promotion from League Two) Corpus Christi FC (Promotion from League Two) Des Moines Menace (Planned Championship Expansion) Flint City Bucks (Promotion from League Two) Forward Madison FC Rio Grande Valley FC (Self-Relegation from Championship) Union Omaha Wichita Cowboys (Expansion) West Boise City FC (Expansion) Ciudad Stockton FC (Expansion) Emperors FC (Expansion to Inland Empire) FC Tucson San Francisco City FC (Promotion from League Two) San Francisco Glens SC (Promotion from League Two) Santa Cruz Breakers FC (Promotion from League Two) Sporting Malibu (Fresno FC Relocation and Self-Relegation) The Champion of League One gets promoted to the Championship, replacing the loser of a game between the last place teams in the Championship Divisions Teams in the Championship will play a round-robin home and away against their division-mates and home or away vs the other division for 34 games Teams in League One will play a round robin home & away against their division mates, home or away vs their conference, & home or away vs one other division for 30 games
  6. Since the Hawkeye's Volleyball team will play at the new arena, I would assume the Hawkeye's could use the new arena if the wanted a B1G hockey team.
  7. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/09/the-athletic-hits-1-million-subscribers-after-enduring-sports-shutdown.html Some highlights The Athletic now has 1 million subscribers. For context, the WSJ just got to 2 million digital subscribers earlier this year. The Athletic's newsroom is profitable, but they are in the red when you factor in non-news employees and costs (Sales, marketing, HR etc.,) The Athletic will be adding "Front Page" and "Breaking News" sections.
  8. I'd replace either the Blitz or Bourbun with St Louis
  9. So that's where my mom's pillows went
  10. I don't know. The hockey team moved back on campus for this year to save money, but it looks like the Sully is the only major arena in the area, so I think that wanna keep it around just in case.
  11. https://www.ktuu.com/2020/08/19/uaa-to-cut-four-sport-programs-including-mens-hockey/ Alaska-Anchorage is dropping all 4 of their D1 sports; men's hockey and skiing and women' gymnastics and skiing. They will play this season before ending. Seven of the ten men's hockey members are leaving the WCHA after this season to form the CCHA, leaving behind Alaska-Fairbanks and Alabama-Huntsville. Alaska-Fairbanks has said that they will not be cutting any athletics programs.
  12. I like the top and bottom left. As far as I can tell, the top left is the only one that can lay claim to attempting to follow the NAVA rules.
  13. The Heat should make the Miami Vice set their main one. I don't live in Florida, but the Miami Vice jerseys, along with the Warriors and Lakers, are probably the ones I see most after the hometown team.
  14. Plus, it is, somehow, the official US motto
  15. But would you associate clan with the KKK automatically? For example, I myself learned a bit about the Khmer Rouge in school, but my first thought upon seeing rouge isn't the Khmer Rouge (Maybe not the best example, but it was the first one I thought of).
  16. I'm not Canadian, but is the KKK a big thing up there? Like, would an average Canadian understand the negatives connotations of clan/klan, or is the KKK just an American thing?
  17. The B1G has been conned into believing that New Yorkers give a sh!t about Rutgers football
  18. I guess I don't associate Atlanta with the Olympics as much as LA, St Louis, or Lake Placid. Maybe its because they happened relatively recently, or maybe because of the Bombing, I don't know. I do like the idea of a Coca-Cola theme. Its one of, if not the, most iconic American brands and has some nice potential.
  19. Why? Personally I thought he had some pretty good concepts, but it wasn't mindblowing. The Goldmine seems to be reserved for a). epic meltdowns, b). random, hilarious threads, or c). a combination of the 2.
  20. The ECHL needs 6 more teams to get 32, so here's my best guess as to how it shakes out. Add Trois-Rivieres Manchester and another Canadian team (Missisauga, Hamilton, Halifax and Fredericton are the first ones that come to mind) to the Northeast. Move Reading to the Southeast. Add a team in downstate Illinois (Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington or Quad Cities) and Thunder Bay to the Central. Add Reno or San Antonio to the Mountain.
  21. Missed a lot over the last few days, so I'll just put all my 2 cents in at once. RE: SEC IF the SEC were to expand, I think they grab 2 of the following; Florida St, Miami, Clemson, UNC, Duke, Virginia, Texas, Oklahoma. No team would defect from the Big 10 and the SEC is too good to grab a Go5 team. This leaves only a few top football teams and elite b-ball ones. RE: Liberty The University itself poisons any chance they have at getting into a conference. They'll just have to settle for being a discount BYU at best. RE: FCS --> FBS I don't know about any current FCS teams that could do it be successful, so I think the most likely one is Grand Canyon. They have made a tremendous investment into their programs and facilities lately and have explored adding football in the past. They are eerily similar to Liberty, just with less controversy. Both are large, relatively new, Evangelical Universities in or near a major metro area. RE: NDSU There is a greater chance of the SuperSonics winning the NBA title this year then there is of NDSU joining the B10, ever. Keeping with the NBA references, I think the chances of them moving up to FBS are about the same as the Knicks winning the NBA title this year.
  22. I believe both sides have left open the possibility of playing it. I remember Davidson, St Thomas's new conference mate, played D3 Guilford last year.
