  1. Unless the 12-team playoff format guarantees slots to conference champions, and then sorts out the remaining seeds based on legitimate statistical tiebreakers like any sane league would, I'm not optimistic that the new format is going to be any less biased and miserable as the current, though the likelihood of an obviously competitive and deserving team being fleeced would be lowered. After the top six or seven teams, there's a point where any team with 2 losses has a legitimate case for a spot, and some teams will inevitably get left out, but it would be far less egregious than what happened to FSU. I'd love to see a playoff formatted as follows: Seeds 1-4 go to Power Four conference champions, regardless of record. Seeds 5-8 go to the next four best at-large teams, by record. 9-12 is simply chaos. There isn't really a good way to determine for sure which teams are more deserving of others if they don't have conference accolades or as impressive records compared to the above teams. So long as no 3-loss teams sneak in, unless there simply aren't enough 2-loss teams, I'll be happy. This is by no means an ideal solution, but it'd be something. Use computers to decide the final seeds for all I care.
  2. Swap out champagne gold for athletic gold, and it isn't even a contest. As is, the champagne gold makes this set feel too dull; a far cry from the vibrant uniforms they previously wore under the California sunlight. I'd also like to see some sock detail, feels a bit plain to not have any design elements of any kind below the waist. But yes, from a sheer design perspective, I think this uniform is easily the best the Rams have worn.
  3. I'm also in agreement that the current uniform set and uniforms are a much better fit for the Seahawks, though the throwbacks are undeniably gorgeous. A darker blue, vibrant green, and gray, is a perfect color scheme for a Seattle team. Personally, the current set is just a bit too complex, with a bunch of details that I don't really see the point of, like the patterned numbers and the chest stripes. Heck, for the sake of compromise, I'd be super down to even tweak the shade of green to be closer to Kelly and less like battery acid. I'd also be absolutely down for them to fully replace white with grey, and wear a grey away jersey. Their wolf gray jerseys have always been a fan of mine. Here's a concept idea I had for them a while back, mellows down some of the jersey elements and tweaks the coloring a little bit to feel more like a balance between modern and classic elements. Not super sure how well it works, but it was a fun exercise. The Seahawks are quite the tough team to redesign.
  4. 1, 3, and 5 are excellent. Would be very pleased with any of those three options. 1 I think is my pick for favorite, but they're all very close in quality. Sad to see none of Allan Peters' submissions earned final consideration, but regardless Minnesota is gonna end up with an excellent flag.
  5. as a Patriots fan I've been well aware for years how much I've been spoiled but that doesn't make learning the lesson after years any less painful, though I will say I'd much rather my team be bad and know they're bad than spend years drowning in mediocrity with no end in sight, like the Steelers - for example - are doing now. It's having clear potential and failing to live up to it that's more frustrating, and it's the false hope of "maybe we'll finally fix things" that hurts the most. Obviously, I'm not one to complain in regards to the patriots, but I think it rings true to other aspects of life too.

  7. I know it sounds crazy, but I'd much rather defend an assortment of potential-but-unlikely liars than a more-than-likely serial sexual abuser

  9. I'm intrigued, but I'm not sure if I like it as is. Red socks would make that a really solid combo. Maybe not the best option for the Texans, but a good look nonetheless. Would still be interested in seeing the red helmets with the typical navy jerseys and white pants, could look really nice.
  10. All of his flag concepts have been phenomenal, but this one by Minnesota-based logo and brand designer Allan Peters has been by far my favorite proposal I've seen. Excellent blend of unique Minnesota symbolism, vibrant colors, and traditional flag elements. https://dribbble.com/shots/22944646-Minnesota-State-Flag-Redesign-Option-1

  12. Not as an accent color. Doesn't make an appearance on the uniforms outside of a logo patch. Even the Titans use red more. You're technically correct in the most useless and unhelpful way possible. "Use" is an incredibly generous way to describe it.
  13. Appreciate it! Means a lot coming from you haha, everything you've made continues to inspire me, glad some of my work holds up to a professional standard. I know just enough to realize I was breaking some rules as I went along, especially in regards to pant colors. I mainly wanted uniforms to still feel like the football uniforms in terms of color balance, even if it went against tradition. Had no clue about captain's patches though haha, I just went with what felt better with the available space. I don't plan on doing another fully original league anytime soon, but I'm considering doing some NHL redesigns, could be a lot of fun. I would if only I knew how, but trust me getting into all the layers it's far less polished than it looks haha. Plus, I made it in Affinity so I don't really know how it'd fair with other software. I'll look into it some point in the future, don't really have the time or knowhow to figure it out right now. Definitely leaning toward the anchor for San Diego, I'll keep fiddling around with it. Still needs something more, I think. Might try bringing back the laurel wreath from a previous version. Appreciate the feedback from you all!
  14. Logos connecting on the back of the helmet only looks good if the logo is designed to do so or acts as a stripe. Connecting two logos together like that for no reason always looks odd to me.
  15. Alright, already been 2 months since the last update (holy hell this semester is flying by) so I thought I’d share some small tweaks I’ve made. I haven’t made any major changes to any teams yet, as other projects have been eating up my free time. I did also make some extra, other designs that are more fun additional explorations than serious concepts, but it’s fun to fiddle around with stuff. First up, San Diego. San Diego Admirals The Admirals get a bunch of small tweaks throughout the identity. The colors are darkened slightly with the shade of gold now having a subtle shine to it, the jersey striping has been tweaked to better reflect an admiral’s insignia, and the wordmark and numbers have been tweaked to feel bolder and more accurate to Naval typography. The logo has been tweaked as well, with more consistent spacing and an updated monogram. I’ve also included a potential logo concept that I think works well, mixing the current badge style with a stylized anchor and separating the SD monogram. I like it, but I worry about having two teams using an anchor in their logo (The Toronto Lakers being the other) and I feel like it needs something more before I commit to it. Either way, I’m happy with these small streamlining updates. San Antonio Wranglers The Wranglers get a tweaked uniform set, since the previous iteration was a bit off-putting to me and looked a bit too much like the Emeralds. The new set emphasizes a darker color scheme, with helmets becoming a grayish silver and white being absent from the home jersey. Again, still not quite sure this is there yet, but I definitely like it more than the previous version. Fun Extra Stuff I made a hockey template recently and decided to test it out by slapping some NAFA teams onto it, had a lot of fun seeing how the team identities translate to other sports and coming up with ideas for alternate uniforms. Might try getting into doing hockey concepts in the future, even though I’m not very invested in the sport. Something about hockey uniform aesthetics is really growing on me. I also made a scorebug, just for fun: a linear version and a more condensed version. I made all the additional functionality like flags and challenges and stuff but didn’t wanna include pics of everything here. Had a lot of fun with shadows and effects on it, mostly inspired by the two most recent NBC scorebugs. That’s all I have for now, hoping to keep at it with some overarching NAFA stuff like an updated league branding page over on Bēhance, but it’s tough to work on it when I have so much homework and so many other projects competing for my attention. Next semester looks like it’ll be less hectic so hopefully I’ll have more time to work on everything I want to get done. We’ll see. Until next time! Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  16. The Titans uniforms are almost tolerable in this combo. Looks really nice from a color blocking standpoint, contrasts really well with the Steelers' set. The electric blue pants and navy socks work wonders here.
  17. Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh Miami vs. Kansas City Minnesota vs. Atlanta Chicago vs. New Orleans LA Rams vs. Green Bay Washington vs. New England Seattle vs. Baltimore Tampa Bay vs. Houston Arizona vs. Cleveland Indianapolis vs. Carolina NY Giants vs. Las Vegas Dallas vs. Philadelphia Buffalo vs. Cincinnati LA Chargers vs. NY Jets
  18. The Dolphins’ throwbacks are fun a few times a year, but I wouldn’t want to see them come back full time, at least not without some tweaks. I’m not a fan of the four distinct striping patterns on each element of the uniform. It feels disjointed. There’s simply not enough consistency for it to work in today’s NFL in my book. That being said, the Dolphins’ current uniforms are quite underrated in my book, so long as they wear contrasting socks. The simple stripes and modern rounded block make for one of the best modern looks in the NFL. I’d prefer a set more akin to their 90’s look with the double outlines and unified stripes. As others have mentioned, that’s easily their best look. Take that set, add a tweaked version of the modern block font, and it’s perfect.
  19. Specific Pantone shades can be copyrighted, as stupid as it is. Companies like T Mobile, the Home Depot, and UPS have trademarked their specific shades. I don't think the NFL can legally trademark an entire color scheme though, especially one as common as powder blue and red. Unless they make a logo out of a stripe and copyright that, like Adidas for example, I don't think they can copyright the Oilers' uniform striping either. It'd be pretty scummy of the NFL to sue Houston for simply paying homage to a hometown team like plenty of other schools have done before.

  21. Considering the league took no issue with Arkansas' Cowboys-inspired alternate or Mississippi State's Patriots alternate, this is stupid as hell. They also had no issue with the Houston Rockets wearing powder blue and red. I can maybe see merchandise being an issue if it's too close with logos, but if it's literally just the color scheme and retro vibe they're gatekeeping, that's absolutely ludicrous.
  22. I don't get the vitriolic hate for this logo. Might not be the best option for Pepsi, and it's definitely a bit generic given the trends at the time, but there's literally nothing inherently bad about the design itself. The wordmark could use better execution but it's really strong and recognizable. The icon is perfectly fine.
  23. I legitimately forgot I made some of those picks haha, I guess I wasn't quite as bad as I thought I was. I'll keep at it, why not. Tampa Bay vs. Buffalo NY Jets vs. NY Giants Jacksonville vs. Pittsburgh Philadelphia vs. Washington LA Rams vs. Dallas Minnesota vs. Green Bay Atlanta vs. Tennessee New England vs. Miami New Orleans vs. Indianapolis Houston vs. Carolina Cleveland vs. Seattle Cincinnati vs. San Francisco Kansas City vs. Denver Baltimore vs. Arizona Chicago vs. LA Chargers Las Vegas vs. Detroit
  24. started off so well this year but i just went 4-9 on the week, on one hand it's fun to see upsets but on the other hand almost feel like I'm enjoying upsets and just games in general less when they don't go the way i expect, might sit things out for a few weeks or at the very least not get myself so invested in my picks
