  1. I mean, I don't really mind it. It's not like people take the ASG all that seriously, anyways; may as well say it and go balls to the wall with weird design ideas if you don't have a set theme like the RR-based designs from last year.
  2. That DeShaun trade may well become the biggest blunder in a history of long Browns 2.0 blunders if the Texans can keep this run up. What a curbstomping lmao
  3. Is going back to a rotted root really a good idea, though? Again, they've literally never won anything in the postseason as the Los Angeles Angels without "of Anaheim" stapled to the end, the name without that addendum has no historical significance for the franchise beyond losing years without a playoff berth. Especially since they've spent the majority of their existence as the California Angels, and won a World Series under the Anaheim Angels name, which is infinitely more success than they've had as the LA Angels; so if anything, that's the name that should stick with them, not a name associated with failure.
  4. 5 years in LA compared to 58 in Anaheim is a pretty vast difference, though? Not to mention their height of success came from winning the World Series...as the Anaheim Angels; from 1961 to 1997, they had a grand total of 3 playoff appearances, all of which were under the name California Angels. They never even won a round until the 2002 playoffs, 42 whole years into their existence as a franchise and long after dumping the name "Los Angeles Angels". They've not gotten to the ALCS since 2009, haven't made the playoffs since 2014, when they got swept by the Royals, and haven't even had an above .500 win percentage since 2015, their last season with "of Anaheim" in their name. Frankly, it seems the name "Los Angeles Angels" is cursed when it comes to this franchise, considering they've never made the playoffs using that name unless they've tacked "of Anaheim" on at the end of it.
  5. Why would Disney have put the Ducks a whole 95 miles from their California park, especially considering they were literally branding the team after one of their movies in the first place? It makes more sense to put them close to Disneyland so that you can easily cross-promote the team and the park.
  6. Not to mention it'd be pretty easy for the Kraken to say their design is legally distinct from the Metropolitans, considering it only shares very broad similarities (red S and a vaguely similar stripe pattern) with the Metropolitans jersey and more differences (different color scheme, different S shape, different name, different stripe style). They didn't even use the name in marketing, either. If anything, Seattle's Winter Classic design more closely resembles the red Ottawa 67's jersey than it does a 1-1 copy of the Metropolitans, and the 67's have had this jersey since their founding, minus some very brief periods; Plus, as Echo said, it's patently ludicrous that someone is suing because they decided to squat on the name of a team that's been defunct for 100 years just on the vague hope of getting to go after any pro franchise that settled in Seattle trying to honor one of the most historically-significant franchises in the sport. Funnily enough, they also didn't seem to have an issue with the Kraken raising a banner using the same trademarks they now claim the team is infringing at that time, either.
  7. I think the powder would probably feel more cohesive if you added it to more than just the star on the home jersey, honestly. As it is, it feels like a really random color for this set without the alternate for context. Adding it as, say, a helmet/pants stripe and a stroke in the number font like you're doing with the red would really help make it seem more like a proper secondary color, I feel.
  8. Been seeing a lot of people on Reddit dunking on it as a "practice jersey", but I think it looks fine. It's a blend of design elements (secondary logo+black base+Victory Stripes as primary stripe style) into a look that's leagues better than the :censored:ty gradient that was their last attempt at an alternate. Feels like there's a lot of people who were spoiled by the two Reverse Retros who were hoping they'd just bring one of those back as an alternate or that Tampa would be yet another team to just throw a throwback design onto the Adidas template and call it a wrap when history shows that route was always unlikely for the Bolts when it comes to alternates; the only time they've made throwbacks at all was the Reverse Retros.
  9. Yeah, I can't see him winning this. The jerseys only share the absolute broadest of similarities (horizontal striping on the chest, S for a logo with text inside it). Nobody's going to confuse a navy blue jersey with ice blue and cream striping for a red jersey with green and cream/white striping. Put another way; the Kraken's jersey are far closer in design to the Sens' old black O third jersey than they are a 1-1 Metropolitans jersey.
  10. I think my only real qualm with Vegas' is that the combo of cream and gold kinda ended up blurring together on the TV camera side of things. Kinda surprised they didn't just paste the layout of the socks across the rest of the jersey; I think the grey striping being on the jersey would've really helped make the gold pop more. Same with outlining the gold yoke in grey. Seattle's, though, those were absolutely flawless. I really want those to become their alternates. I think the V works for the intended goal of looking like a logo you'd have seen in the 1910's and 1920's; lots of teams from that era just used stylized letters for their logo instead of a more complex design (the Sens' O, Vancouver and Victoria's Vs, Boston's B, etc.) If Vegas wanted their jersey to match Seattle's, that was the best way to do it instead of trying to make up some old-timey knight logo.
  11. Henderson has unveiled their first third jersey;
  12. I mean, plenty of teams have taken jerseys from the Stadium Series, Winter Classic or Heritage Classic and subsequently made them into full alternates; Pittsburgh did it in both 2008 and 2011, Chicago did it in 2009, Boston did it in 2016, St. Louis and Ottawa did it in 2018, the Jets did it in 2021. Would not shock me if Seattle followed in that direction considering how popular these jerseys are, especially since they don't have an alternate at the moment.
  13. Yeah, cream/off-white works in moderation, but I'd have to imagine the league doesn't want the appearance of one of their franchises having a jersey that looks old and unwashed as a full-time jersey. Plus there's the issue of white balancing for cameras and stuff to consider, as well.
  14. Honestly, I don't think their current jersey is too far off from being legitimately good; the problem is that the yellow is overwhelming until you reach the bottom, where it just becomes a giant chunk of navy. If they, say, had a navy shoulder yoke and helmet, that would go a long way to balancing the jersey out more.
  15. Oof, these are pretty bland. It just seems like a needless attempt to "modernize" the classic blue jersey that just ends up coming off more like a Walmart knockoff trying to ape the Liberty jersey's style than anything. The overwhelming amount of blue makes the pants stick out like a sore thumb, too. And the captain's patch is...less than ideally placed;
  16. Pretty sure they can't actually do that, though. Not only does it make no sense (they're not the only team in California in either league), but it seems like a bit of an unwritten rule now that states with multiple teams can't have a team named for the state unless they've been grandfathered in beforehand like the Rangers, Mets and Yankees; which the Angels can't be, because they haven't been the California Angels since 1996.
  17. It's literally the exact same Pantone shade for both, though; 296 C. In fact, the Canucks still use that same color in their primary logo right now.
  18. I mean, I wouldn't mind that at all, either. They've done enough Skate throwback thirds as of late that deciding to finally throw back to something that's not the Skate would probably sell pretty well at this point. Their only alternate in recent memory since the end of the Reebok days to not be Skate-themed was the blue one with no white and the SiR on the front. A WCE-era throwback would be a welcomed change of pace.
  19. Doubtful, you'd think the background would be a black-yellow gradient in that case like how they always market that jersey, not a dark-light blue gradient that clearly brings to mind their primary look. Especially since this was likely being done around the same time as the matte helmets for that Skate alt. It's probably just a chrome blue helmet to copy Vegas and LA's chrome buckets, because we all know how much the Canucks love trend-chasing when it comes to their brand history.
  20. I mean, it's a helmet. At the end of the day, this isn't football where helmet design is extremely integral to a team's overall appearance and can make or break a uniform design if done wrong; NHL teams just have a solid color helmet without any real details besides logos and numbers, and the vast majority of a uniform's cohesiveness rests on the jersey, pants, gloves and socks. Nobody complained about Columbus experimenting with blue pants "not making any sense", after all, and that was arguably just as pointless a change as Carolina's helmet before they went and made it the full-time look.
  21. Eeeh, there's a lot of uniform gaps here; just looking at the NHL, the Bruins don't have any of their jerseys from the 20's-40's unlike on NHLUniforms. Toronto's only starts at 58-59, the Rangers' jerseys only start at 1976 , Detroit only starts at '86 and Chicago's only starts at 1996. Hell, a few of the defunct teams straight-up just don't have uniforms listed on this site, like the Tigers, Pirates or Maroons.
  22. I mean, this is the same league with franchises bearing names like "Swamp Rabbits", "Ghost Pirates" and "Solar Bears", so I really don't see what's so bad about "Knight Monsters" comparatively to the rest of the ECHL, especially when it's blatantly obvious that Vegas will pick them up as an affiliate once their deal with Savannah is up with how the current trend of affiliates is to have them closer to the NHL team. The league just has some franchises with corny-sounding names, past alumni of which include the Grrrowl, Road Warriors, Riverblades, Boardwalk Bullies, Whoopee and Mysticks. Besides, it gets people talking about the franchise more than if it were the 30,0000th team just called the "Monsters" or "Dragons".
  23. So the Rangers' grand idea for a unique new alternate...was to copy the Devils' homework on the Jersey jersey and change it slightly? You know, the jersey everybody universally agrees is the poster boy of a mid alternate? It looks like the kinda you'd see an EASHL team wear because they think it's hot in a champagne glass rather than the cold diarrhea in a Dixie cup it actually is. Christ, the Digital Six jersey is better as an alt than this is, and that thing was literally only made to be in a video game.
  24. I mean, I think the late 80's White Sox jersey pulled off a script X with a tail just fine, personally. Besides, it's not like the X and tail even connected on the Expos script, anyways, the tail's connected to the S.
