I really hope the Lakers don't retire 6 for him. That would be ridiculous. Kobe accomplished greatness in both 8 and 24.

I'm pretty sure they'll just retire #23, especially if they win another championship or get close to one. it just sucks that the scoring record was broken in #6.

  2. After 7 months, I finally decided to revist this thread...and upon seeing some of your comments, here are the new

    Baltimore Ravens

    • Primary jersey becomes purple again, but with black shoulder yokes to split the difference. (Yokes are purple on road and black on purple alt.)
    • White pants return for the home uniform
    • Black pants are added to the alternate for an all-black look (with purple socks to match the yoke).

  3. The NBA Finals is being treated less like the pinnacle of basketball and more like an ESPN cash-grab. You want ads on the court? Fine. But put them on the sidelines next to the benches like you've been doing. No need for "YouTube TV" to appear in three seperate spots at the same time.

Here's a quick fix at the scoredboard. it's not perfect, but it's something:

This means that since the Warriors franchise moved to San Fran in 1964, Steph has worn a jersey from almost every uniform set in Warriors history...

The Celtics can win alone. They basically are Tatum and Brown.

No offense, but I've been seeing a lot of your posts, and it just doen't seem like you actually watch the games. You are what social media calls a 'casual'. You complain about good, experienced teams winning (even though that's how you win in the playoffs), you only mention star players like this is NBA Jam, and you claim there are no more likeable teams*. I don't think you like basketball as much as you think you do.

*IMO, the only universially unlikable team was Memphis.

I don’t have a consistent rule for name abbreviations, some I like, such as NYK GSW and CBJ, but some I abhor like LAK TBL and especially NOP.

I actually think the NBA should make an exception and allow the Pelicans to be NOLA. We have the technology now, we can survive with four letters.

ESPN already uses UTAH intead of UTA. (as far as I know, they are the only network who does that.)

  7. Time to revive this thread with the

    Sacramento Kings

Although some fans want the black to be featured more, I think the Kings have struck gold with their purple and grey balance. The grey and white space places on the logo, while two font from the earlier days in Kings history emerge.

Asoociation/Icon: The new home and roads take inpiration from the '94-'00 Chris Webber days, with the '85-'94 script font returning.

Statement: A new take on the '94-'97 alternate, the base now becomes half-black/half-grey.

City: Using the '67-'71 Cinncinati Royals jerseys as a base, the city alternate has "BEAM TEAM" in vertical letters as a shout out to the victory beam the Kings road to thier first playoff appearance in 18 years.

I was just discussing how to make a competitive team in London and I said playing at home and overseas in blocks of weeks made the most sense if they did that. So this would be a mini version of what I said, because I said blocks of 4 weeks made the most sense to limit jet lag and fatigue.

That's precisely what I was thinking, but I though four weeks would be too much of an advantage/disadvantage for the London team, and the fact that the NFL now (idiotically) has 17 weeks, so the 4x4 no longer works.

Jaguars playing two straight weeks in London seems interesting.

CBS announced Bengals at Chiefs on New Years Eve 4:25pm. I wouldve pinned that one for a primetime game.

I'd assume that's how they would break up scheduling if the Jags ever do go to London.

    3 home games, 3 road games, 2 home, 2 road, 4 home, 3 road.

How much of an competitive advantage that would be is concerning, but it's just a thought.

If it's about heart then they must have a heart transplant in that Bulls play-in (Again, how do you explain that Hawks game?)

This was a mediocre team with the lowest scoring team of ANY of the 2020 teams playing meaningful games. Putting up offensive numbers through 82 games similar to lottery teams while barely winning a bad division- did that come down to heart?

Are we just gonna take Miami regular season games with a grain of salt?

All of those reasons make this accomplishment even more impressive.

It really comes down to 2 things -- toughness/heart/chemistry, something you can't quantify but is there, and Jimmy Butler coasting through the regular season.

And also, why are you criticizing Miami for winning? Yes, they were bad in the regular season, but--other than Butler--they weren't "not trying" or "load managing". They sucked, but they won when it mattered most.

I generally think it’s easy to armchair-coach after the fact in these situations, but Bud appeared to not know he had a timeout at a time it would’ve been very obvious to use one. Not the first time his in-game management has been a complete brain fart.

In general the Bucks shouldve had that game locked up and simply let Miami right back in.

I believe both the NBA and NFL should have a "time management asssistant", someone who's entire job is to watch how many timeouts and/or challenges a team has.

Milwaukee was up 102-86 at the end of the third. The Bucks thought they had this game in the bag, and they forgot that Playoff James "My name is literally Jimmy" Butler was on the other side.

Call me crazy, but I genuinely think that, if Bam remembers how to play basketball, Miami has a chance at the Finals. they knocked off the overwhelming favorite, and one of Philly/Boston/Atlanta will take each other out, so Miami just has to get by New York (iffy) and then Boston/Philly/Atlanta (iffy). Not saying they'll do it, but they have a chance.
