Really? You want the Lions to lose because of pants? The team is on one of the greatest runs in sports history and you want to see it come to an end because of pants?! I know what site we are on and complaints are valid but at the end of the day we're all here because we love sports. Who cares what they wear right now because this season is crazy. I want to see the Lions get to the Super Bowl and win.

I agree, as long as the pants have stripes 😅

The color of the socks should generally match a big color block that's above the waist. That can be the helmet, that can be the jersey, or that can be the numbers. I don't mind if the socks and pants match provided that 1) the socks match one of those two things and 2) the pants have a stripe that breaks up the design.

    That's why I don't mind these:

There is one uniform that breaks these rules that I still like, and it's this one:

That probably has a lot to me first seeing these uniforms during a Monday Night game when I was a kid and thought they were really cool. That one has stuck with me ever since.

completely agree with this rule, which is why I've always disliked when teams use solid white socks to break up mono looks like these:

Without any stripes on white socks, it just makes the uniform feel incomplete, especially when everyone on the team is wearing them

At that point, might as well commit to the mono look, the bland white sock taking up 50% of the legs doesn't do much to help.

This one works better because of the stripes

The difference is in prior years it was worn twice at the end of the season, compared to this year where they only wore all navy for 1 home game which was a bad loss before switching to navy/grey.

Yeah that’s definitely true… I assume they started it in 2021 to switch things up in what was a lost season, and it was used for pretty meaningless games. Even last year it was used for opponents like the panthers and jets which aren’t necessarily big games. I know fans and players love the combo, and they lost in all blue week 1, so that could be why they’re doing it now. But maybe they’re saving the all blue for the Eagles and Steelers games (the only home games left where we’re wearing blue) because they’re “bigger” opponents.

Washington wears the burgundy that will be a good looking matchup. My candidate for the best uniform matchup of week 10 is Jets vs Raiders if NYJ wears green pants.

Seattle starting wearing the grey pants with the navy jersey in Russell Wilson's last season with the Seahawks, right?

They started wearing it at home that year in 2021, and have been using it for 2 home games every season since then. Before that it was used for road games where the opponent wore white at home. I think it was used against the Panthers (2012, 2013) and Dolphins (2012, 2020) a couple times, at the Chargers (2014), and at Dallas for a playoff game (2018). It's my favorite combo from the current set, partially because of how rarely it was worn, so I'm definitely glad we're using it more. Bobby Wagner said it was his favorite combination as well in a press conference in 2019.

  5. Also has anyone noticed that teams don’t fill in their end zones all the way anymore? There’s always a visible patch of green between the colored paint and the white paint and it’s annoying to see. I get why teams like the Rams and Chargers, and the Giants and Jets do it because they share the field and swap back and forth between the end zone paint. But even the MetLife teams didn’t do it until this season. And the rams and chargers had full endzone paint in 2020. Even in the London games this year they didn’t fill in the endzone paint.

Teams like Houston and Denver should have no excuse though.spacer.png

just fill it in all the way 😭

anyone know if there’s a new rule about endzone paint

  6. Hopefully FOX learned their lesson from the Bucs game and has throwback logos and graphics for the Seahawks this week. Makes a huge difference when they pay attention to these things. Also excited to see the field design for Seattle this week. I’m assuming throwback helmet at midfield and blank endzones with “Seahawks” in the old font. But I’m hoping for those silver endzones they used to have in the kingdome.spacer.png

Damn you, Detroit. Ruining the Raiders streak on the Best list. They’ll wear the blue helmets and awful all grey against Las Vegas next week-

    spacer.png

Vegas should wear black that week, I still don't think that the Lions grey set should be used as a home set where the opponent wears white.

Although all of these matchups suck, I think they grey uniforms work a lot better in color vs color matchups.

Ah, I love Jets uniform discourse!

    • The current set is perfectly fine

    • The helmet is the best in the league

    • When paired up correctly, the set is in the top 10

    • Here’s a doozy, the black jersey is the best of the main three

Would love to see the black jersey paired with white or green pants… also they should switch the helmet logo to the throwback word mark full time

here’s my nomination for worst looking game of all time… lions grey jerseys should never be worn in general, but if they are,  it should be matched up against a dark jersey… they’re too light to be a home color. It’s like the Seahawks wearing grey against a team in white. Lions raiders this year would top this, but the blue helmets might add some contrast, the shade of grey is a little darker I think, and who knows the raiders might wear black + the lighting in ford field is a little different. That’s also why I picked this game over lions dolphins from last year.

Actually the NFL changed things several years back regarding "alternate" jerseys. Teams are allowed two "alternates" outside of their standard white and standard "color". Those 2 can be any combination of Throwback, Alternate or "Color Rush".

The only team with no alternate jersey currently is the Chiefs. The Dolphins and 49ers have 2 throwbacks and the Chargers have 2 Color Rush.
For 2023 these are what each team has listed as possible options (some won't be worn) outside their standard white and color.
    Bears - Throwback, Orange Alternate
Bengals - White Color Rush, Orange Alternate
Bills - Red Color Rush, White standing buffalo throwback

Broncos - Orange Color Rush, Navy Alternate
Browns - Brown Color Rush, Throwback
Buccaneers - Pewter Color Rush, Creamsicle Throwback

    Cardinals - Black Color Rush
Chargers - Royal Color Rush, Navy Color Rush
    Chiefs - None

    Colts - Throwback
    Commanders - Black Color Rush
Cowboys - White Color Rush, Throwback
Dolphins - Aqua Throwback, White Throwback

    Eagles - Throwback, Black Alternate
Falcons - Throwback, Red Gradient Alternate
49ers - Red Throwback, White Throwback
Giants - Throwback, White Color Rush
    Jaguars - Black Alternate
    Jets - Black Color Rush
Lions - Throwback, Grey Color Rush
    Packers - Throwback
Panthers - Blue Alternate, Black Color Rush (I know  there is nothing different here designation done to use alternate helmet)
    Patriots - Throwback
    Raiders - Throwback
    Rams - Bone Alternate
Ravens - Purple Color Rush, Black Alternate
Saints - White Color Rush, Throwback
    Seahawks - Lime Alternate, Throwback
Steelers - Black Color Rush, Throwback
Titans - Oilers Throwback, Blue Alternate
Texans - Navy Color Rush, Red Alternate
    Vikings - Purple Color Rush

So is it confirmed that the Seahawks aren’t wearing grey anymore?
