  1. How about something like this? Quick MSPaint job. I tried to fix the stick buttend, blade tape, triangle outline and lack of teal Old
  2. Yeah exactly what I've been trying to say all along except more bluntly lol. The original shark logo had charm and soul, and the current one is just lacking something. Or maybe I'm just blinded by nostalgia It's an extremely 90s identity but I don't think there's anything wrong with that. The Flyers have a 60s feel, in line with the simple yet abstract logos of the time. The Oilers have a late 70s/early 80s feel with the eye searing colors. The Blackhawks have that old timey combo of extremely busy logo and simple jersey design that would probably heavily criticized if they came out today, but were perfectly fine in the 30s. Why can't the Sharks keep the dumb angry animal logo? Does every team need to look like they're an O6 franchise? And if that's not what you meant, then what do you suggest?
  3. Not sure how a teal shark makes more sense than a black or pink or chrome shark but I never said the current logo was irredeemable garbage, just that the original logo only needed a few minor tweaks. A compromise between the two would be fine, probably. You're right about the lack of movement in the OG logo, but I don't mind it. I like to think of sharks as slow moving, roaming creatures waiting for the right moment to strike lol And I don't like the orange eye at all. Or the inclusion of orange in their color scheme. Or any of their Edge and post-Edge jerseys, save for the throwback and RR, obviously
  4. I know. Maybe the logo could have worked with the shark in a more realistic light gray and with a teal triangle or something. But that's not the way they chose to go, and I fully appreciate the artistic license taken in making the shark black. I always thought the all-black shark looked badass. But just having the equivalent of a teal clown nose just never sat well with me. It's supposed to be a shadow effect I'm guessing? It could have been done more subtly. It just looks randomly MSPainted on as an afterthought. Not that they ever needed more teal than the triangle outline anyway That's not what I'm saying at all. It's a different approach is all. I just don't like the updated logo, I think it looks too cartoony with the wacky proportions. I get what they were going for, but I don't have to like it. I'm not saying it's garbage, mind you, it would be perfect for a pee-wee team. The artist did improve on his understanding of how hockey tape works, but he still got the top end of the stick wrong lol And for the sake of the argument, yes, I absolutely do think an artist, whatever their vehicle/art form is, can get worse with time due to many different factors including jadedness, shifting interest or influences, corporate or executive meddling, the list goes on. In this case, I think Sharks management is at fault and I have no idea why they felt the need to overcorrect a best-selling and universally loved logo that only needed a few minor tweaks
  5. You're right, the original was much better Both the joke AND the jerseys are extremely tired at this point
  6. You lost me at "teal highlights to the Shark" ahah. Unless it's extremely subtle. But I don't want another teal nosed shark. That's so cartoony and childish
  7. Of course not. The idea is for the ad to stand out. Fortunately for the Canucks, green is a team color On a side note, I really wish we would stop posting new helmet ads. It's pointless, they always look bad and we don't want this thread to become THE 2021-2022 NHL HELMET AD WATCH . The NBA thread sucks because of that
  8. Oh and btw, I liked your post because of the white earloops and strap, not the stupid helmet ad lmao
  9. So many other teams need to follow suit. It wasn't really necessary for the Flyers since black is a team color but the Canadiens, Rangers, Flames and Leafs (EDIT: Nevermind, they listened to me and fixed it!) BADLY need to go back to white earloops
  10. It's the current logo that is already outdated. Looks like a Saturday morning Nickelodeon shark from the mid 00s with wonky proportions. The original logo was nearly perfect. All they have to do is fix the hockey stick and remove an outline on the triangle. That's it
  11. No, navy isn't the answer. Black made sense at least because of the black puck in the logo and black numbers. Navy would be even less cohesive. The double blue trend is extremely tired at this point
  12. I'm in the minority of people who thinks these Kings jerseys look fine, and this is a huge improvement! I can't wait to see what the away jerseys look like now cause they're a little better than the home jerseys imo. All they need now is a permanent purple and yellow alternate. Preferably a 60s-70s throwback
  13. You're all missing the point here. This kind of comment just doesn't fly anymore. You can argue semantics all you want, I just don't wanna see that kinda casual disdain/hatred for a specific group of people on a sports forum. I don't care that it's a joke or meant to be sarcasm. I just don't find it funny The mod removed it and I'm sure the original poster didn't mean to offend anyone so I don't wanna start fights or anything. I'm done replying to this situation, don't bother quoting me
  14. "A race is a grouping of humans based on shared physical or social qualities into categories generally viewed as distinct by society. The term was first used to refer to speakers of a common language and then to denote national affiliations." No need to be pedantic. I get what you're trying to say but again, a mod resolved the issue. A sports logo forum isn't the place to be discussing this. Let's move on
  15. Or maybe you should learn to detect casual racism better? Either way, the other mod deleted the harmful comment, and rightfully so cause this kind of comment was uncalled for and out of topic especially on a forum about sports uniforms. There was no need for you to chime in when the issue was already resolved. No need to drag this out any further
  16. The Trois Rivieres Lions (ECHL Montreal Canadiens affiliate) have unveiled their very 2008 looking jerseys Meh/10
  17. [MOD EDIT: Dealt with. If there's something you think mods should look at, please tag a mod or report the post.]
  18. Yeah I know what you meant. Just your average nonsensical Nike speak ahah
  19. You mean aside from the incomplete sleeve stripes, weird collars with the fake rubber laces, the shoulder numbers, whatever the hell is going on with Ohio State's weird shoulder yoke and the Spartans whole uniforms? A few teams turned out okay but there's too many uniforms that look weird in your post and you cherry picked the "best" ones. I wouldn't wanna see what you consider are the "bad" ones lmao It would be just like when Reebok took over and half the league walked away relatively unscathed but the other half looked like garbage with front numbers, phantom yokes, incomplete stripes and piping madness. Adidas is keeping it classy and most importantly, they're not forcing any of their design elements onto teams. No "Nike speak" here, no gimmicks. The closest thing to a gimmick is the shoulder yoke golf ball texture but nobody seems to mind. I haven't heard a complain in years This. And it's nothing new either. I love my 90s Nike hockey jerseys, but I don't wanna see their ugly and gimmicky templates anywhere near the NHL. Look at those templated monstrosities. They took every design element that everybody loves about hockey jerseys and threw them out the window, save for the big logo on the front basically
  20. Nah, I can't agree with that, sorry. They had some pretty awful collars like this one And they made the collar laces a strictly visual and ineffectual element Also as a fan, the adidas collars are much more comfortable imo
  21. Adidas is doing a fantastic job with the NHL. I never thought I'd say that, when I heard they would be taking over from Reebok, I thought we'd see another gimmicky Edge system 2.0 (3.0?) with piping and weird cuts and all. The collars looked a bit weird at first but now I don't really mind them anymore. And even then, it's not that bad on most teams. Those new logos mostly look great Looking at the other big 3 leagues, I'm really glad Nike isn't outfitting the NHL. Which is a shame because their jerseys from the late 90s were pretty good
  22. So pointless. They were pretty much the only team to look worse when they switched over to adidas, and this doesn't help at all. A change for change's sake
