Don't know what size you're after, but there's a 2XL available on eBay right now. They want $235 for it though.

Much appreciated but I need a medium or large, unfortunately!

I want that jersey so bad! But with Kariya's name on the back. They're impossible to find these days. I've looked everywhere

Of the teams that RADICALLY changed their look for the Edge jerseys (Columbus, Dallas, Ottawa, San Jose, Tampa, Vancouver, and Washington), IMO the Capitals were the second best after Columbus
Boston?
3 minutes ago, nash61 said:and there is a reason they are 2 of the 3 redesigns left standing.
Yeah cause they won a Cup in them lol
There's a reason why every team save for them and the Ducks eventually moved on from their piping, random blocks of colour, armpit stains and side panel jerseys, most of them even before Adidas took over, cause they looked terrible
Washington is always in the bottom 5 whenever anyone does a jersey ranking, I've never seen so many people, let alone on here, defending them. What's going on?

Nobody likes piping and side panels, especially on a hockey jersey
Then again, I'm on the hunt for a 2007-2014 Blues jersey lol. So again, it's all highly subjective
But ask yourself, are you a tiny bit biased because the Caps have been consistently one of the best NHL teams over the last decade+ while wearing that jersey, including winning a Cup and having arguably the best/purest goal scorer of all time on the roster?

Nah, literally everything he said about the Caps jersey is right. Modern but not over the top. Maybe you could kill the side panels, but the stripes are sweet.
Alright, let's just agree to disagree then lol
At least we sorta agree on the side panels, they really suck and have never, ever, ever looked good on a hockey jersey
4 minutes ago, dont care said:The ducks uniform was not dated I think you need to look at what that word means. Those ducks uniforms could fit any time period just fine.
Are we talking about the same Ducks uniforms?
I'd call those jerseys many things, "timeless" is not one of them
I know what the word dated means and it definitely applies to these

Because it works.
The jersey contains a unique striping pattern that's not your typical horizontal traditional stripes. But it doesn't go over-the-top with nonsensical piping or an excessive abundance of layers filled in such a way that will make the jersey age quickly and poorly. It fits well and there's a lot of space on the jersey.
It reminds me of the same scenario, regarding the Houston Texans look. The Texans have had the same uniforms for forever because everything just flows smoothly, even with a modernized font and another set of unconventional stripes. I don't know if we could call it a timeless look, yet. But seeing how it lasted multiple decades, we might be getting there soon.
Come on, I'm willing to respect some of your points since it's all very subjective but you're saying those jerseys didn't age quickly and poorly? Yikes. I can't think of a more dated jersey, other than the Ducks maybe, but it's not as old as the Caps' set. Those Caps jerseys are based on a semi-generic Reebok template from 2007, 15(!) years ago
The Texans comparison is dead wrong, as someone said earlier in the thread, the Caps are the Arizona Cardinals of the NHL lol

Hate squared-off shoulder yokes. In general, not just on those Caps jerseys.
Even for the Devils?
1 hour ago, DTConcepts said:Perfect? With THAT name and number font? No
Also, I'm nitpicking but the shape of the eagle logo is kinda weird, it only worked on the jersey next to the diagonal stripe but on its own it's always looked unbalanced

I think the navy is a near perfect alternate and should be the basis for their home and away jersey but the red jersey kinda sucks (mostly because of the shoulder stripes) and is giving me AHL/minor league All Star game vibes
Unpopular opinion?

Honestly the only thing really bringing down the Caps look is the side panels. And maybe the just emptiness on the back of the sleeves. Otherwise it’s a good look for a team, and something that only needs tweaks, not a major overhaul.
IMO, the Caps have never had a perfect, perfect look. The Reverse Retro was pretty darn close, but otherwise each era has had its own flaws in the sweaters and branding. The current look, at least for me, seems to be the most “Capitals” of the bunch.
Agreed. It's only a few tweaks away from being a solid design. They can keep the front and shoulder logos, font, colours, gear, navy alternate jerseys and even the current home and away socks lol. They just need to de-Edge-ify the jerseys
And I also agree that they never had great jerseys. There's always a design element or two holding them back

That old template was so generic, the Penguins and Senators had pretty much the exact same jerseys as well as Tampa Bay at the time. Jerseys that are slapped together in minutes are always awful.
I think it was something even more nefarious than laziness
Just Reebok trying to put their stamp on the league

Will there be a time that the Reebok piping will be "retro?"
I could see the Caps bringing back their Cup/Ovie jerseys in 20-30 years if they aren't still wearing them of course lol. As depressing as that sounds
Do the 2007-2016 Penguins count? No piping but still a templated monstrosity

Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man movies were hated by most, but now that he showed up in the last one people suddenly want to see an Amazing Spider-Man 3.
Speak for yourself! His movies were flawed but he's still the best and most accurate Peter Parker and Spider-Man we've had on the silver screen lol
If Sony wants to bring him back for their Morbius/Venom/Kraven universe, I'd be more than okay with that
Sorry for derailing the thread. But you're right, nostalgia is a hell of a drug

I'm a little disappointed that they're not going to wear this for Ryan Miller night, since this is a logo he wore for the first half of his Sabres career.
And they're not wearing it against the Habs, Bruins or Maple Leafs either. In fact they only wear it against one old North East division rival, the Sens
I wonder who decides these things. Makes no sense to me, even looking at the calendar, it's not like they just picked weekend games or anything. It just feels completely random. Oh well. Still pretty cool that they're bringing it back

This makes me wonder if we could see a color flip of their Winter Classic jersey. That used a lighter blue and darker red to great effect.
It was the exact same red they use on their regular jerseys and the Nordiques blue chest stripe isn't quite the same powder blue as the Expos. So it's pretty unlikely.
On the other hand, I've always wanted to see a red version of that jersey!

yeah for the NJ Devils......
The Avalanche is not the Colorado Rockies. Why would they be pulling from them? Especially when NJ is pulling from the team before the Colorado Rockies on their RR designs..... makes no sense.
What would make no sense is a team from New Jersey wearing a jersey inspired by the Colorado state flag and named the Rockies, after the Rocky mountains

I'm surprised nobody's talking about the Avs (probably) dipping into the Rockies' identity. Not to be too self-indulgent, but I think I hit the nail on the head with my concept from a few months ago.
The fisherman, storm, and robo-pen are all exciting, but a Rockies throwback would look so good.
I wonder what it would look like if you swapped red for burgundy and royal blue for steel blue. With yellow possibly being replaced by silver as well?
I've always love those Rockies jersey. R/W/B + yellow trim is such an underrated combo, but at the same time the Avs have a really unique colour scheme and it would be a shame not to use it

The only thing about Oilers' Todd MacFarlane jersey I didn't like was the navy and silver scheme. It was a copycat version of the Kings' Gretzky-era black and silver.
Funny, I never made that connection before but you're totally right. It would have looked just as good in navy and copper imo. But then it would have been too close to their regular jersey
14 minutes ago, spartacat_12 said:Considering they're just swapping out the silver for orange on the jersey, it's odd that they're keeping the silver in the logos. I think it might've looked better if they kept the oil drop navy and changed the silver parts to orange and/or white.
Yeah I don't like the execution either. The idea was there but if that's the final result, I find it a bit underwhelming
8 minutes ago, Ridleylash said:Eh, I can see why they didn't; for one, the white might draw unfortunate ejaculate comparisons, and as for the orange...
...it definitely doesn't look good, either. I think the route they've gone with is the best option if they're recoloring it; the orange drop brings in that connection to the primary.
We never seem to agree on anything
I think it looks great in orange!

Kind of a weird choice, I wonder if Oilers fans liked this jersey. Do they have fond memories of this era? It's certainly interesting that without the RR program, we would have almost certainly never seen this design again on an NHL rink
Feels surreal that a jersey from my youth is now old enough to be retro. I'm really getting old lol

Lol what? Clearly they'd wear a dark colored helmet if they used a sand jersey.
I know they often make exceptions but the rulebook says (said?) you can't have two teams wearing the same helmet colour, I'm not sure about black vs navy
Besides, I've always thought that a dark helmet paired with a light jersey looked amateurish. Like all those low budget OHL and LHJMQ teams that can only afford one helmet lol
Which is probably what is stopping the Wild from having a cream away jersey

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like it was made with the create-a-team function in some NHL game, I don't think it's legit. Just a concept to show what a uniform with teal gear might look like
