  14. Somehow, the worst part about this rebrand is the BS "design-speak" in their logo intro video: https://www.facebook.com/bghotrods/videos/vb.54223721815/10153090981296816/?type=2&theater Seven lines representing the other teams in their division? Ten dots to represent the counties their STHs are from? Calling that deep grape color "blue" to honor the Commonwealth of Kentucky? Sooooooo bad.
  15. Following up on a post from 5 pages ago, my employer recently retired #55 in honor of former player/current head coach Derek Landmesser. I think we hit a decent sweet spot between being simplistic and informative. Since Mess wore several iterations of the turtle, we went with the version he wore most recently and as captain. (We also gave out replica banners, which was a little weird considering our recent logo refresh.) The new banner is larger than the other two so it fits in better with the GIGANTIC championship banners on the other side of the rink. The plan is to update #31 and #13 before next season. So, how did I do?
  16. Via @FrankMurtaugh of the Memphis Flyer: Official reveal slated for later today. EDIT: And as soon as I post this, the team makes it official.
  17. The Memphis Redbirds are revealing a new look on Thursday: (Source Tweet) Having seen the new logo set, I can verify it puts their brand more in-line with St. Louis (see image #2 here), which makes sense now that the Cardinals own the Redbirds. I can also say this is not the final reveal in MiLB...
  18. I asked a friend who was recently hired by the Sounds about this. His response was basically, "lol no idea but hopefully soon." FWIW, there are still two teams without 2015 artwork on an official database I may still have access to...
  19. Been meaning to share some banner photos from work. Since we do not own/operate the building, the banners are frequently removed for concerts and such if they are in the way or deemed unsightly. While I appreciate how the older banners from the Mid-South Coliseum are different to match the branding of that time, it drives me crazy that they are all different sizes and styles. Re-doing these is on my short list for the offseason. What do you think makes for a good banner? I'm sure this has been discussed in thread already, but I don't feel like reading 43 pages.
  20. My biggest takeaway is that el tortuga bats left.Or is that the follow through of his swing? He looks like he's watching a home run. His left flipper is higher up on the bat, so he's a lefty.
  21. The only bear-with-bat logos I recall the Cubs using were from the early 1900s, and that bear was just holding the bat nonchalantly instead of in a legit batting stance. The new SB Cubs mark of the bear catching a pop-up fits in perfectly because of this:
  22. Someone needs to show this SB Cubs set to whoever did the OKC Dodgers identity. THIS is how it is done. Echoing basically what everyone else has said, but I LOVE that Tortugas set. The colors are unique but not crazy, and it's always encouraging to see a well-done turtle logo. Not a huge fan of the hippie-ish wordmark, and I wish the 2nd alternate were more than just a decapitated turtle. However, if those are the worst criticisms about a new Minor League set, then it's golden.
  23. It also looks like the Pensacola Blue Wahoos are no longer the only team in baseball, or the Southern League for that matter, to utilize blue + pink/magenta/fuchsia/whatever as a supporting color. Odd considering their relative proximity along the gulf.
  24. When I worked for the Jackson Generals (AA-Seattle), we would have guys come up from High Desert (then an M's affiliate) and be relieved that Jackson had something to it. I always knew Adelanto was a bit of a hole, but daaaaaang I never knew it was that sparse!
  25. I really do love the stylized "N," but those colors are not great. Here's my favorite #HotTake thus far: What The Sounds Are Really Telling Us With Their Re-Branding
