Brown facemasks are apparently still going to be used on the White throwbacks.

1. I don't have any insight on the usage of 279...just speculation on my part that the NFL might want the Texans to use a different shade in order to differentiate their color from TN. 2. I think that the manufacturer(s) dictate - to a large degree - what colors are used. Don't know about any past or present league mandates. 3. Ironically, the sheets I just got for the Broncos neglected to define the Royal Blue and the Light Gray (used on the alt pants). All that is used are custom RGB values that don't match up to anything in the Pantone library, or even the Nike colors that I can tell. I have provided estimates, but I am not all that confident that they are accurate. Along those lines, I should mention that the beveling on the Texans' new numbers (Navy and Color Rush jerseys) are just tonal screens, and not additional colors. 4. I had a heated argument on this board years ago about this subject, but what I do is display the *intended* color. I understand that even though I have estimates of Orange 179 C and Blue 293 C for the Broncos of that era, that what was worn on the field wasn't always a true match to those color values. I own a 1970s-era NFL style guide, and even though Pantone values hadn't been adopted at that time, the league provided color tear-off chips for color matching. I can take those sheets and compare to my physical Pantone guides and make fairly accurate estimates of the intended color. The argument I had in the past was in regards to the Cowboys' ever-changing Metallic Blue pants of the '60s and '70s. It was said to me that I needed to estimate each variation - they seemed to change color from year-to-year. I argued that the intentional color (again, from the physical style guide I have) was close to PANTONE 8200 C, so that's the color they were *intending* to replicate. If I were to attempt to account for every manufacturer variation and dye lot discrepancy, I'd never get anything done. Oh - and I have found that occasionally, teams have provided alternate colors for helmet color mismatches - the Rams for a while designated 281 for the helmets and 287 for the uniforms, and back in the '70s, the Eagles had a darker shade of Green for their helmets as well. The Giants were probably just picking a stock helmet shell color that looked better with their uniform color.

285 C is a fairly common shade. I mean - the Packers, Steelers, Chargers, Chiefs, Commanders, and Cardinals all use 1235 C. Can't easily trademark particular colors (at least, not without a whole lot of legal hurdles).

So - this new lighter Blue (officially designated as "H-Town Blue Light") is NOT the same shade as the old Oilers/Titans Columbia Blue/Titans Blue. Probably the reason the NFL said to go ahead with this. Original Columbia Blue on left, new H-Town Blue Light on right:

And in terms of Pantones, they aren't at all.

I haven't seen the new specs yet, so I'll have to take your word for it.

Every individual NFL team uses an SVG for their primary marks in the upper left-hand corner of their sites. It's there.

I just moved to Prescott (pronounced "Preskit"), Arizona over last weekend. I will try to get to some NAZ Wranglers (IFL) games if I can. Last Arena game I've been to was the very first Dallas Texans game at Reunion Arena back in '90.

I JUST moved to Arizona over the weekend, and now we'll lose the NHL team. Nice.

I'm anti-Gray masks pretty much ALWAYS. (And I'm OLD.)

I think I lost mine after the Cardinals' fiasco.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but does has anyone else noticed that ESPN is still using the Black/Red/Sand Diamondbacks graphics?

I'm old enough to have seen the road Reds in person in '77, and also the new road Blacks the following season in '78.

It's just the standard NFL Style Guide template.

I still hate the TV numbers on the helmets.

Keep in mind "Spade" has been a really racist term in the past.

Historically, they didn't have striping on the Red jerseys, save the 2005-2022 designs.

I haven't done any concepts in a long time, but thought I'd share this one, which is an AZ Cardinals tweak to simplify (even more) their current set. After staring at the new set endlessly for about a year, and mostly being OK with the addition of Silver into the color scheme, I still think it is not needed. I get that they wanted to modernize the helmet and still keep the "Gray Facemask Aesthetic" as I like to call it, and bring that color into the uniforms, but I'd like to remove it. We now have TWO teams in the NFL (Chiefs and Cardinals) with a color in their logo that is not in their unis (Black for the Chiefs, Yellow for the Cards), and a color in their uniforms that is not in their logo (Gold for the Chiefs, Silver for the Cards). I like the idea of presenting a new modernized version of the "classic" St. Louis Cardinals uniforms, but I would have taken it a bit further. I removed the Silver and added Black back as a trim color on the Cardinal Red jerseys. In addition, I completely removed the Red pants, and changed the striping pattern on the White jerseys and pants to Black-Red-Black from Red-Silver-Red. Also moved the wordmark back to the front of the jersey albeit a smaller (but larger than previously worn). So sue me - I like jersey wordmarks. I also added full-color logos to all three jerseys, and changed the facemask color on the White helmets from Silver to Red. I also added TV numbers to all three jerseys. I understand the trend is to remove these, but I feel that these particular designs need them. I think the current White jerseys look really blank without them. The biggest change to the Black uniforms is replacing the Silver numeral trim to White - I feel that the Silver trim gets muddy-looking on the Black unis. White stands out better IMO. I also removed the 3D shading on the helmet decals. To me, this creates a more iconic look; one that is easily identifiable as the Cardinals, but still retaining some modern elements.

As you can see by what I have on my site, I am estimating the 422.

I think of it, seeing how we're closing on a house in Prescott next week...

They're technically metallic Silver now. Matches with the metallic-like Silver striping and trim.

And I agree with all of this as well, although I think I would like the Red jersey to be a mirror-in-style of the White jerseys (posted before, but here it is again): (Oh - Unpopular Opinion here: I actually LIKE the Black alts. A couple of games a year, sure.)
