  1. I used to visit this forum frequently... just popped by to see what's new with the site. I stumbled across this thread, and 53 pages later, reading every single post, I have come to the conclusion:

    ren69 is a world-class contributor! Awesome work!

He tirelessly and politely handled sooooo many requests (some pushy, some obscure), and stuck with this project for months. Plus his work is TOP NOTCH. Of his 368 posts, probably 200+ have had killer content.

Thanks for the awesome work. Thanks also to Doyle524 and davidmiller5 for their contributions to cataloging this masterpiece thread. Please let me know if you are accepting compensation for your hard work.

  2. Anyone have a 3D vector template for soccer & baseball? I have one for football and hockey but is there somewhere I could get ones for other sports?

    Something that looks like this:

I have a baseball one, but I can't really edit it for your needs. My main file is full of flaws, but here it is.

  3. Mega-bump, but I thought this was funny. I found out for the first time today that he ever wore a number other than #20; according to basketball-reference.com, he wore this in his rookie season in Seattle. Surprisingly, #20 was available in Milwaukee, Los Angeles, and Boston, all of which have many retired numbers and places where Payton played near the end of his career. I wonder why the one-year anomaly... actually, it was the last season of former #20, Quintin Dailey.

  4. And Andrew Bogut? He's not that bad. He is, somewhat, a bust, but not comparable to Sam Bowie. In fact, no one will ever be comparable to Sam Bowie.

Bogut is hardly a bust. Give him a few years to develop. He was still statistically better than Deron Williams and Andrew Bynum in his first year, yet nobody called them busts, and they both had their breakout seasons last year and this year, respectively. The fact that he was drafted #1 is a lot of pressure, but his stats are consistent with many of the other big men drafted first. Michael Olowakandi peaked early, but Bogut is still developing; he had 0.5 BPG last year, and 1.7 BPG this year!

And besides, there have been soooo many big men taken first in the draft, that if he can play ten good seasons, he should immediately be taken out of "bust" talks. So quick to judge, yet you probably haven't seen him play, draw charges in the clutch, contest shots, or get that game-winning alley-oop over San Antonio.

  5. For raster I would go with .png. It works real well. Just it doesn't use layers. No raster one does.

PhotoStudio and Serif PhotoPlus have their own formats that allow layers.

Overall, I would say .png is the best and most versatile for the raster template.

For the action template, is it like those NFL .png ones that LEWJ posted, or is it like those NCAA football ones that are actually with in-game kind of action pics?

  6. Just to put this out there...

...I ain't much a fan of hockey, although for you hockey heads, I'll eventually get around to doing one, but I'm currently wrapping up production of a new round of action templates for those who have been asking for so long. If you've seen my more recent concepts thus far, you have a good idea of how my football concepts look. Unbeknownst to you people, I've long had a roundball temp in the works and am currently working on touching up one for baseball, as well.

Again...just to put that out there... ^_^

I think I requested the hoops one a while ago. Is it nearly done? I love the action templates. And I would second the request for some .svg formats or something else, because .ai doesn't work in Flash. Basically I have to trace whatever raster representation I have.

  7. Has anyone here ever worked with Poser? I got a free copy, and it seems like it could be a cool tool to make concepts for--then, instead if a 2-D image, you could see the uniform on a player. I guess you'd need models (for the appropriate padding and body shape) and templates for that kind of thing. Anyway, if anyone here has messed around with this, please let me know. Thanks.

I have a limited trial Poser 5, and I used it for a little bit. Sounds good to make 3-D sigs, but all I know is how to transform a human model and put clothes on it. Lots of stuff are available for download from various sites, or if you're feeling advantageous, you can try to make objects yourself. But I hear it takes a LONG time to learn to work it fluently, and a good computer (i.e. one unlike mine).

  8. I'm looking for a newer sort of template. I've seen a football one that shows the player in some sort of pose, such as making a catch or dropping back to throw. It basically shows the uniform in a game situation. I was wondering if anyone had any examples of this. I would especially like to see one with basketball, if there is any.

If not, could someone make a basketball template of an in-motion character? That would be great.

i'm actually working on that basketball idea...i dont recall who did the football ones at the moment, but he's "inspired" me to do one for basketball with a player shooting and dribbling

    How is this coming, anyway?

I've seen your lacrosse template, and it looks very nice. I hope that you do the basketball one as well. Maybe you've already posted it, but I haven't seen it. I have seen one with a player, but I believe it is old. Here is a jersey concept I did with that one:

    AGuyInAwayJerseyPNG.png

So after a day at home, I decided to start my own dynamic template. The idea is to do one from the front and one from the side. I foolishly did the one from the side first...

    AwayTemplate1.png

Anyway, here is my attempt. I still hope to see yours, and I would love to know how it's coming along.
