  1. The change also happened to coincide with a President's Trophy season and the most entertaining team the Sabres had iced since the French Connection. There were literally people setting up tents in empty lots to sell Sabres merch during the '06 and '07 playoff runs.
  2. Jim Kelly only wore blue pants as a Bill during the pre-season in 1986. After the pre-season that year they switched to white pants with the road uniform and wore those throughout the remainder of Kelly's career.
  3. Some penicillin ought to clear that right up.
  4. The Carrier Dome hosts football, basketball and lacrosse.
  5. The white in the roundel represents the snowballs they threw at Santa Claus.
  6. This year is year 3 of the current set, so there's a minimum of two more years before they're allowed to change them again.
  7. They did use the shield logo as a crest briefly in the late '70s. It wasn't well-received.
  8. I've always been led to believe that Rock City was Detroit.
  9. So, what's the Over/Under on how many games this league plays before it suspends operations?
  10. The Sabres / Leafs outdoor game is being branded as a Heritage Classic, so I'd assume the uniforms will be more traditional than the Stadium Series uniforms usually are. The Sabres did a Bisons tribute with their 40th Anniversary alt, but that was over 10 years ago, so it's possible they go back to that for this game. The Leafs play at home on St. Patrick's Day, so they'll probably wear their St. Pats alts then. I'd be surprised if they wore them for this game since it's going to be just a few days before St Patrick's Day.
  11. Martin Biron of the Buffalo Sabres was the last NHL player to wear # 00 in 1996. The last player to wear # 0 was Neil Sheehy of the Hartford Whalers in 1988. In 1996 the league banned anyone from wearing # 0 and # 00 because the numbers caused problems with their stat-tracking software..
  12. Really you could do it any time the visiting team is only on a one-game road trip as long as it's agreed upon before hand.
  13. I could live without the gold piping on the maroon uniform. Without that it's a nice enough set. Really not feeling the white gloves with the maroon though.
  14. Does that mean NFL captains can legally marry people?
  15. Saw someone on another board refer to them as the Rushnecks.
  16. I just don't get how they expect Calgary fans to be okay with taking Edmonton's old colors. That would be like the Bandits announcing they're going to switch to teal and purple now that Rochester's not using them anymore.
  17. Did the Rush leave those behind when they moved to Saskatoon?
  18. Those elbow patches tho. Are they hockey players or Ivy League professors?
  19. Makes it look like their laundry guy got a little careless with the bleach.
  20. Capacity at Coca-Cola is less than 8,000. Capacity in Hamilton is over 17,000. The Rock usually averaged over 10,000 a game at the ACC. I'm guessing they wouldn't want to limit possible ticket sales that much, especially after losing a season and a half to the pandemic.
  21. Makes a certain amount of sense, I guess. Rent has got to be a lot cheaper at Copps (or whatever it's called these days), and they won't be 3rd in line for arena dates behind two major league teams.
  22. The reds are way better then the gold. They should be the permanent alt. By the way, are those signs on the glass allowed to be there during the game or does someone have to take them down after warm-ups?
