  1. Quick question for the uni experts hanging around here... I recently found something odd at the local goodwill. It's an authentic Eagles road jersey... only ten bucks, so natch, I grabed it. What was the catch? Well, some obviously disgruntled Philly fan tried to de-T.O. his jersey. (Weird... I found it in Detroit!) He apparently cut the stitching, thinking he could remove the numbers and name, only to find out the numbers are also heat tranfered on. Consequintly, the jersey now has a network of loose threads and, most problematic, dark stains where the numbers were. So... what can I do with it? I've tried to pick out the tiny threads with an exacto-knife... probably do-able, but its taking forever, and I'm not known for my patience. And I have NO idea what to do about the discoloration. Is bleach as bad an idea as I think it might be? Is there someplace that can semi-restore this thing? I wouldn't mind a cheap McNabb jersey, if I can swing it. (Is there a chance trying to fix this will cost more than a new Authentic jersey?)
  2. Yes, and how about the colors for the sky's "thunderstorm" alternate?
  3. Man, who doesn't love the old Minnesota North Stars!?!!
  4. Hmmm... does everyone understand that any old jackass can just go on to wikipedea and type in anything they want? There's no fact checking. If you're looking to do some actual research... you may want to avoid.
  5. Ummm... "gray face mask craze"??? Do two teams count as a craze? Cleveland, Indy... am I forgeting someone? (I'm not counting teams that have always worn gray masks as part of this supposed "craze")
  6. OK, I'm glad someone else finally said it. How the hell are the bolts "upside down"? They're LIGHTNING BOLTS!!! Do you use a left-handed pencil, too? I don't get it.
  7. Dude... DUDE.... Dude? DUDE!!! Good point
  8. To me, baseball uniforms should have MATCHING jerseys and pants... preferably all white, all gray, or some other light neutral tone. If I were in charge of MLB, that's the first rule I'd put in. If you wanted to wear a black jersey, or navy jersey, or whatever, you could, but you'd have to wear matching black or navy pants. It might be damn ugly, but at least it would be a BASEBALL uniform, not a cheap-looking softball outfit. Hate it.
  9. Better than what they had, but only because what they had was ghastly. However, it looks like they're sticking with what MUST be the worst number font in sports. Ugh. Too bad, their traditional (or at least 80s/90s traditional... meaning fairly plain) look was top notch.
  10. Signing day for high school recruits is the most ridiculas, over-hyped media driven non-sense on the sports landscape today. I live in Michigan (and I'm NOT a U of M fan... the sweater rules!), and Michigan fans go nuts about this every year. THESE ARE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS!! You have NO real idea what kind of college players they're gonna turn out to be. Its all just best guess at this point. Every year Notre Dame still end up having their class of recruits rated in the top 5 by the high school recruiting "experts" (how do you get that title... what a joke), and how has that turned out lately?
  11. Does anybody know a good on-line outlet for harder-to-find minor league hockey jerseys... or just merchandise in general? Thanks!
  12. OMG!!!! IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THAT FACE ON MARS!!!! AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Oh, wait... maybe its ME who's stoned.
  13. This one is so outright hilarious, I'm actually thinking about getting it! http://cgi.ebay.com/Authentic-Warren-Moon-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  14. Not to nit-pick, but Sewn-on and Heat-pressed weren't the only options. I believe quite a few teams used to Silk-screen their numbers on (Chargers, Dolphins... any team with a split-outline... and other too). I have a few older authentics with numbers that wre definately screened on.
  15. Oh, and the Eagles did wear all green, some years back on a monmday night vs the 49ers.
  16. QUOTE(beansdooma @ Sunday, January 14th, 2007 - 13:13:12) QUOTE(willmorris @ Sunday, January 14th, 2007 - 00:18:40) No, I agree, all-white should not count, as white is not a color when it comes to pigments. White is the absence of color. No, black's the absence of color. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it depends on what theory of color you're using. Additive color, I believe, says that all possible colors equal black and no colors equal white. Subtractive color is the opposite. Or vice versa on the terms. You got it exactly right (I teach color theory and design at an Art College). Subtractive Colors deal with pigments, dyes, etc... any time you're creating or mixing your colors. That's why Red, Yellow and Blue are the primary colors of paint but not on your computer. Additive colors are light mixtures... that whole "Sir Isaac Newton and the Prism" thing. So a black shirt is hot in the summer because all the colors (which are really just different wavelengths of pure light) are absorbed and none reflected, and a white shirt is the opposite. Hmmm.... but one thing I apparently can't get right is that stupid quote button. DAMN!!!
  17. OK, I'm a freak, but I can talk about football and baseball sox all day. Hey, can we start our own board for this???
  18. Have the Ravens ever worn their black pants with their purple jerseys? And if so, is there a pic? (I mean the new versions, not the pants they wore in their first year after their move.)
  19. Obviously, a lot of NFL teams have throwback uni's without TV numbers, but does anybody know what the rule is for TV #'s on regular uniforms? Is it a requirement?
  20. Leotard look?!! Well football has changed since the 1970's and 80's and uniforms have changed as well. The plain fact is, monochrome is fashionable, sleeker, and intimidating. Having a bunch of flaming and flamboyant colors showing up everywhere is not modern. Monochrome, like all black is. I played football for years and the common trend that we players always wanted were monochrome jerseys. I personally like many combinations, but nothing is better than an all black uniform (including socks). I can digest the white bottoms of socks, but I think it is still rediculous. Just have plain colored socks. Stripes on socks belong on uniforms that predate the 80's, otherwise have plain colored or white socks. The Bengals players do have fashion sense when it comes to uniforms. Players have worn uniforms all their football lives. I think they know what looks good. You wouldn't go wear the same outfit you wore in 1979, so why whould they. Maybe people need to be less dogmatic in viewing trends, and update their fashion sense. Hmmmm... so you're saying the Bengal's uniform is "sleek" and "intimidating"? And that they don't have "flamboyant colors showing up everywhere"? Hilarious. Have you actually seen the Bengals unform? That thing has so many stripes and logos and junk plastered all over it, a waitress at applebee's would be embarassed to wear it.
  21. I was visiting family in Cincinnati Friday (Nov. 24), and read an interesting article in the Enquirer. It was about the Bengal's equipment manager, and how the uniform combos are chosen. When asked if there was anything about the uniform the players all agreed on, he said it was a general hatred of the orange sox. So, I guess we have the players to blame for the leotard look that's taking over the NFL. Look, I wouldn't ask my plumber for tax advice, and I wouldn't ask my lawyer how to bake a pie. Why is anybody asking ther players for design advice? Look at Oregon... today's player obviously has absolutley NO idea what looks good. Can anybody find and post that article?
  22. QUOTE(oldschoolvikings @ Saturday, October 7th, 2006 - 19:12:58) Did anybody else see that tool Giambi sitting there with that stupid look on his face wearing his "classic pinstripes"? HAHAHAHA Go Tigers! what are you trying to point out? Giambi has nothing to do with this.. I was trying to point out that Giambi is a tool... and I believe I did a fine job of it. But, wow, you're right... no one has EVER deviated from the topic on this board... my bad.

  24. How come nobody on Sportcenter knows how to pronounce the word "Coyotes"?
