The Bears could get a first for Justin Fields from an idiot if they try, but then again they're kind of idiots themselves and may have talked themselves into keeping him.
I don't see any way in hell some team would give the Bears a first for Fields. Not at this point. If Chicago puts him on the market they're basically telling everyone they plan to draft a new QB, which kinda kills their leverage. You'd think they might get a 2nd rounder for him, tho I'm not really sure from who. Maybe some team that missed out on a QB in the first round might give a Bears a two for him.
But I think you're right about Chicago keeping him. After all they seem intent on keeping that coach.

We’ve seen guys opt out of big games before, but I think this year is probably the breaking point for opt outs. Mentality seems that if I’m not playing for a National Championship, why would I bother risking injury in ANY other meaningless game to make this school that isn’t paying me even more money? I can’t say I disagree with that. I’m starting to get the feeling that the bowl committee leaving out FSU was the final straw for a lot of these guys, and I’m pretty sure it’s gonna ruin the bowl game setup.Yeah, next year, with the top 12 teams going to the playoffs, the old bowl system will be true and completely dead. As a general rule, the playoffs will eat up the top 3 or 4 SEC teams, the top 3 Big Ten teams, the top 2 or 3 Big 12 teams, and probably 2 from the ACC. Throw in Notre Dame most years, and the other bowls will mean even less than they do now.

Does SMU always wear those “Dallas” uniforms now? I haven’t been paying much attention to them for a while but I feel like they used to have better looks.

D.J. Moore, who is very good, and Cole Kmet, who is no slouch.
Don't sell him short... he's a tremendous slouch.

Fields 4th quarter stats: 41/80, 463 yards, 3 TD, 6 INT, 8 sacks
Purdy 4th quarter stats: 54/83, 849 yards, 9 TD, 3 INT, 5 sacks
I don't think they'd go 16-1
I'm not trying to say Fields is some kinda hidden gem or anything, but those stats are calculated with Purdy throwing to Deebo, Aiyuk, and McCaffrey, while Fields is throwing to... I don't even know... you and me, maybe?

Indeed, this is the AFC’s Super Bowl to lose.

What @infrared41said.
Yeah, so the 49ers are just going to give up 5 interceptions every week now?
Seems unlikely. And without those interceptions, I wonder what the score would be?

Was rooting hard for the Vikings today - remind me not to do that again. What a lame duck by Nick Mullens. Now I see why the Eagles cut him in favor of not having anyone.
Mullens is an absolute turnover machine. The Vikings season was over when Cousins’ achilles blew up… it just took a while for them to figure it out.

Have the Lions worn their standard blue jerseys and gray pants together yet this season?
What a bunch of morons.

It doesn't look like teams care or give mind about their opponents. But there are teams who do. The ones who do are outnumbered by the ones who don't.
Can you give any specific examples?

Except if they play a team who also has yellow pants. In which case I prefer a contrast. And also an opponent who has gold pants. I think that's why LAR is going with the combo they chose when they host the Saints who might bust them out. I also didn't mind the Rams wearing blue over bone against the Commanders or some of the other opponents they've worn them against.
This idea imagines a world in which a team knows and/or cares what their opponent is wearing and makes decisions based on that knowledge. In all my (way too many) years of paying attention to sports uniforms I’ve never seen the slightest piece of evidence that any team give two seconds thought to what the other guys are wearing.

Hot Take- SF is going to go 1 and done
Kyle Shanahan until proven otherwise is basically this era's Marty Schottenheimer
And who do you have taking them out? Especially in their first playoff game? Every other team in the NFC (Lions? Cowboys? Especially the Cowboys) have a much harder time when playing without an early lead. And the other NFC wildcard teams are likely to be an embarrassingly bad collection of undeserving pretenders

"hopefully just has covid" is out of context.
It is, definitely. . Comedy? (Debatable).
You have to admit, to the rest of us whose fraudulent teams can barely string two wins together, 10 and 3, however you get there, seems hard to complain about.
-
I come into this thread and read that @BBTV says that Jalen Hurts (hopefully) just has Covid, and the Eagles’ OC has no idea what he’s doing. So naturally I decide to turn on the game to see this apparent disaster as it unfolds.
Eagles up by a touchdown that Hurts ran in.

If you run right at this Dallas defense they just kinda crumble.
Seems to me that even if you don’t have an especially good run game, you should still just plow right at them. Even the Cardinals did it.

Maybe this is just pessimism from a jaded sports fan, but I can absolutely see Dallas winning that game in the right circumstances. I think they'd come into that game pissed off knowing how the last two seasons ended, and how the Niners were the only team to make Dak look truly mortal this season. I still have confidence in the Niners against anybody, but no game in the NFL is ever a guarantee (besides Joe Namath), especially in the playoffs.
The Niners and (checks notes)... the Cardinals.

Continuing the Eaglejack, just heard that if they get the #2 seed, which they would by them and SF winning out, then Dallas would play in SF, thereby eliminating one of them, and then if Eagles win their home games, Dallas (if they beat SF) would play the NFCCG in Philadelphia. So while they look like one of the worst teams in the NFL right now, there's still a chance that they can get right "enough" to end up in a good spot.
So in this scenario, you’d have the Cowboys beating the 49ers. In San Francisco. In the playoffs. While coached by Mike McCarthy.
Ummm …

For some reason, I find the fact that the Titans always use he word "britches" to be super annoying.
And those "britches", like every other piece of their uniforms, suck.
