  2. Who cares, they still can't beat the Gators at the Cocktail Party... UGA can whip LSU around on a neutral site, that's for sure. I agree...and I hate LSU too... Nice try trying to fit me into a typical stereotype though. But come on, you think someone smart enough to know who Jari Kurri is would actually be an LSU fan?
  3. I dig it. Heck, the sponsor's logo is something close to matching the team's colours. Gotta be a first in Europe.
  4. Who cares, they still can't beat the Gators at the Cocktail Party... The institutions of higher learning involved in the contest to which you refer kindly request that you refrain from further use of such appellation. Fox Sports OK, how about "The Yearly Beatdown of the Univ. of Georgia by the Univ. of Florida on the Gridiron?"

  6. http://www.uniwatchblog.com/?p=20#comment-73 Can't the smacktard use a dictionary to see that it isn't spelled "stir-up," but rather "stirrup?"

  8. Neither is pumping 'roids. I applaud Springer. I'd do the same thing. Two wrongs make a right, I suppose...
  9. Not broken? The TigerCats' leaping cat logo has quite the flexible spine... What he meant is that the image RichMGH posted is broken. More accurately, it looks like nationalchamps.net doesn't allow remote linking, instead redirecting the request to an ad. That's pretty savvy on their part, really. OK, my mistake. But it gave me the perfect opportunity to poke at one of the (personally) more irritating logos in sports.
  10. Oilers blank the Sharks 2-0. Man, what a Western Conference Final: Anaheim vs. Edmonton. OK, so who's got the edge?
  11. Not broken? The TigerCats' leaping cat logo has quite the flexible spine, as any normal critter can't turn its body like the logo shows. Whilst I realize that the TiCats have always had a cat lunging like that, and it's been getting better over the years, the cat in the logo still looks funky.
  12. You can toss that lame excuse for a university in Ruston (Louisiana Tech) out of the Sun Belt. They left for the WAC and seem quite comfortable sitting at the bottom of the heap there. -UL-Lafayette Class of 2005
  13. Should be everyone's friend I prefer Strunk and White's "Elements of Style". I give that to every new hire in my firm each fall. It's my bible. I've got both. That, along with Turabian, were required books for my writing seminar. I picked up the full Chicago Manual of Style after I graduated. Good stuff that both don't cover if you're ever in the mood for arcane citations. Ah, Katie Turabian. I have my mom's copy from college, and every time a new edition comes out, I buy it for sentimental reasons. Ok, so we're grammar dorks. Well, it's what happens when you teach Jr. High and High School English for a living...
  14. Hmm... Mezaros, Chara, Spezza, Smolinksi, Havlat, Heatley, Alfredsson, and Volchenkov. Typical, no Hasek...

  16. Whilst we can all dogpile on minor league teams, and the Charlotte Bobcats, what would we consider the worst out of the Major League teams? (MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, MLS)
  17. That's not cool. It's only cool when playing the Canadiens. Get your Canadian teams right, Shark fans. No, it's not cool, period. Booing the Canadain National Anthem is never cool. Especially at hockey games, if it wasn't for us, you wouldnt have this beautiful sport. So before you say something like that, think about it BITCH! You're Dutch? http://www.sihrhockey.org/origins_report.cfm

  19. Hmm... would we call the question in, er, question a "skratchmo?" i.e. a seemingly normal sports question that gets overanalized to the point of insanity? The possibilites are endless...
  20. Well, it should have been this... Hope is the first step to disappointment...
  21. I went in another direction with the secondary logo, and came up with this: I used it for our school's athletic banquet program, which took place Friday night. I'll see what the reaction was at school tomorrow. Next up will be Spirit shirts for next year. I may open it up to the CCLSC crowd if I can convince my boss and AD of it. Only thing I can offer is a t-shirt though.
  22. Not Sens-specific, though digging for the history of the original Senators is what got em going. When I should have been getting Inter-Library Loan books for my projects in college, I was getting the Ottawa Citizen on Microfilm. I lapped up every book around here when I was in grade school about hockey B.I. (Before the IceGators came to Lafayette), but afterward, it was pretty easy to get info since everyone else was looking for somethign about hockey. Twas cool to be 14 at the IceGators' first home game, and tell the drunken fans around me what exactly icing was, and why the IceGators should be shooting to knock off the Richmond Renegades, who won the Riley Cup (now Kelly Cup) the year before. Though for serious hockey history stuff, I'm scrounging up teacher-money (ha! we make no money!) to become a member of the Society for Ice Hockey Research. I've got a backlog of books I've been wanting to read from these guys, especially the new book entitled "Lords of the Rink," which is supposed to show how hockey always had commercial appeal, but it was the lads who ran the NHL in its early years that made it the Canadian version of baseball. Should be interesting.
