  1. Blessing in disguise for my Bluenote brethren. I'm starting to get the feeling that if you put Matthew Hulsizer's and Ice Edge Holdings' capital together, you might be able to buy the Dayton Gems. Dollar Beer/Hot Dog/Pop/Probably Tickets Outside The Arena Saturday at the Jobber drew 13,381. I find it telling that I can't distinguish whether that's good or bad. Other than the home opener, that's probably a season-high for them, right? Then again, their season high is barely above Columbus' average of 13,000, which is 27th in the league. So it's good for Phoenix's below-sea-level expectations, but still bad.
  2. Add the Devils to list of ownership/money woes. So 2 out of the 3 teams that play in the league's largest market are currently going through turmoil. What in the hell.
  3. That's actually not even the worst I've seen for that place. A couple of years back I was watching a weeknight Wild @ Panthers game for God knows what reason, and the place looked like a Cleveland Indians game at the beginning of "Major League." The game you posted looks like a sell-out compared to that one.
  4. If they stick to their guns, they're gonna show up on the Island again.
  5. They would've been moved to Birmingham, Alabama by now. But yeah, Gothamite basically brought up the best point: If there was a viable city that was ready to take the team on, they'd be out of Tampa. I'm probably gonna sound like a hypocrite considering what town I come from (the same town from which the hockey team I loved got whisked away mainly due to lack of interest from the rest of the local base), but that team deserves much better than what they're getting right now. It's not like they're the Marlins, who have had 2 World Series runs and have been largely irrelevant other than those two runs. Against all odds, they've built themselves into a consistent winner in the toughest division in all of baseball (and maybe North American pro sports), they've got one of the most exciting players in the league in Evan Longoria, and people still don't go to the park. I can understand people being repulsed by the fact that they play in a glorified Wal-Mart, but if you have to tarp off seats for a playoff series, something's wrong. However, there's nowhere for em to go. But could the infamous c-word that was floating around a decade ago come back now? Unless Oakland gets their situation sorted out & Tampa starts supporting the team, it could happen.
  6. Red socks + matching helmet (Batting helmets that differ from the on-field caps are probably my top pet peeve in all of baseball.) = Top 5 uniform in baseball.
  7. calm down, sparky The article nailed it. If this was 2009, the Jags might be a serious candidate. But now, it's purely speculation. So that's now 4 denials. Looks like rams80's deep, dark, & dank conspiracy theories have shot to the top of the board in this race.
  8. Agreed, though I thought it was hilarious that he jumped ship back in the 07-08 preseason because he didn't wanna be a part of a rebuilding process. The Falcons went on to win the division that season. Best sports picture I've seen in years. Bar none. Fat athletes are the best.
  9. I totally forgot he even wore that uniform, even though it was just a few years ago. Shows how far OKC has come in such a short amount of time. He hit a game winner in a double OT game vs. the Hawks in his rookie year. That alone will always make me remember that, if only because of homer reasons on my part.
  10. Agreed, I was mildly disappointed when I heard that news. I mean, it's good that they're recognizing it, but it just should've been a section in the yearbooks, the Wild Card isn't banner-worthy.
  11. I LOVED that jersey! Same here. I was totally ready for that to become the primary, then they added a white version of it...then it mysteriously disappeared in favor of the old uniforms. I was SO sure that they were going to follow the late 90s-early 00s fad of turning the 3rd jersey into the primary set. Oh well.
  12. With the exception of U of Arizona's white-red-red look (which I just love for some reason), I'm generally a fan of monochrome under one condition: it's gotta be monochrome from head to toe. That's why I like the Seahawks look & the Falcons when they used to have the all-black set, just to name a couple. I hate monochrome when the helmet is a different color from the rest of the uniform. Seeing a team like U of Washington wearing a gold helmet with an all-purple uniform just looks ugly to me. So, to recap: In my opinion, monochrome with the helmet as the same color = ok. Monochrome with a different color helmet = not ok. Once again, that's just my unpopular opinion.
  13. Dude. It's like some jerseys have elephantiasis & the others are just teeny-tiny. That being said...I'd buy one of those Bruins Winter Classic throwbacks on the condition that it was blank. Those numbers are atrocious, but doesn't seem like they made any glaring mistakes on that one. Those numbers though...Man.
  14. Hell yeah. Although I've never been too big of a fan of taking recolored old logos and calling it new...this was nice and is still better than their current logo, mainly because of the fact that I dig the fact that there are actually pistons in the logo. It was the perfect upgrade to the "Bad Boys" Pistons identity, both in logo & uniforms. Too bad they had to ruin it by updating the boring logo from back then and somehow making it bland & adding that red alternate for a couple of years. That was a mess, IMO.
  15. I actually prefer this look to what they have. If they were to pull a 49ers and be able to subtly update this look, they'd have one of my favorite looks in the NFL. What they have right now is garish. Even with the grey facemask, this is better than them having that yellow monstrosity for a grill.
  16. Okay, I promised late last night that I'd build on my opinions...well, here we go: The OKC Thunder's home uniform...actually good! Everything else is a travesty, but that home uniform is among the best in the NBA, IMO. Miami (FL)'s football uniforms from 2000-on have all been great. Their look is the main reason why I consider them as my 2nd favorite FBS school. It was a sad day when this uniform fell by the wayside. This should be the Broncos' primary home uniform. THIS is the worst logo in all of baseball. If there is one team that needed to jump out of the 90s, it's this one. Once they add the old school uniform that they wore for the Winter Classic, this will be a top-tier uniform in the NHL. I think that covers it for now. (Yes, I'm an orange fanatic. )
  17. It's late, so I'll just leave this here before I hit the sack: This is one of the best uniforms in the NFL. Monochrome or not, awesome is awesome.
  18. Colorado's moving to the Pac 10. I'm guessing that the Big XII's days are numbered now. What was everybody's favorite Big XII memory? Here's mine: When Nebraska qualified for the BCS National Championship...despite not even making the conference championship game. That was awesome.
  19. According to this report, 5 schools are joining the BIg 10. Missouri, Nebraska, Syracuse, Pitt, & Rutgers will be joining the Big 10, if this report is accurate.
  20. Crap, I forgot, there would be a second Denver Broncos team Only because there isn't enough team for either Brady Quinn's fratitude or Kyle Orton's epic neckbeard. 2 Denver Broncos teams are necessary.
  21. Denver is in 2 divisions...but it still works. NFL needs to adapt this ASAP, get on it Goodell!
  22. This is the greatest thread in the history of Sports in General. Finally, the shackles of realignment have been loosed. I will subscribe to this thread & enjoy it like hell. This is almost as good as the Nutcracker thread.
