  1. I'm looking for the name of the typeface used in the Boardwalk Empire title. Obviously there's a lot of treatment on it, but I'm looking for the base face used. It may or may not be the same as the one in the credits... Thanks..
  2. If these rumors are true, the Big Ten will hold patient at 14 teams with Nebraska, Texas, and Texas A&M being added. They'll then patiently wait for Notre Dame to succumb to all the movement and join in. At that point they'll see who's left and add the best fit, be it Mizzou, Syracuse, Rutgers, Maryland, or someone else. And should that play out, it would truly be a coup for the Big Ten.
  3. The Big Ten will take their time, but Nebraska won't be the only addition. Delaney will be patient, though. As for ruining college football, it might make it better. Imagine 4 conferences of 16 teams. 64 major schools. They all leave the stupidity of the NCAA and keep their money, hold their own tournaments and championships. Could happen.
  4. The chance that the Big Ten adds Nebraska and stops is 0%. The Big Ten might have gone to 12 if Notre Dame was #12. But with Nebraska coming on board, it's a guarantee that the Big Ten goes to at least 14 and probably 16. I think it'd be silly for the Big Ten to bother changing their name (but I also get that it's silly for a 16-team conference to be called the Big Ten).
  5. None of this has happened, and I don't think it is likely to (in this manner). The Big Ten will be operating on some fairly simple formulas (although geography and especially academics will continue to play key roles). Total Conference Revenue / 11 Schools = X Revenue of Potential New Member School + Revenue Generated from New Market Exposure = Y Y must be ≥ X Of course a 12th team allows for a conference football championship game, but that revenue is peanuts compared to what we're talking about here. If that condition isn't satisfied, don't expect a school to get invited. This is the case for schools like Mizzou, Nebraska, Rutgers, and even Pitt. Now, there are some big fish out there that definitely meet this criteria. They are Texas and Notre Dame. They bring in enough revenue to make that formula work a couple of times over, and that being the case, you might see the Big Ten willing to bring in a couple of the afforementioned schools to create a "Super Conference". For one thing, I can see where building such a conference would project to bring in many extra dollars down the line even if the return isn't immediate. But the bigger reasons are about Texas and Notre Dame themselves. In the case of Texas, it's long been rumored that they and TAMU might be a packaged deal (and Tech might be part of that, too.) In the case of Notre Dame, they may only be willing to relinquish their status as an independent if their hand is forced by the creation of a few really large conferences--their AD has even said as much. Another point to be made about Notre Dame is that they would actually make more money in the Big Ten and have fairly similar exposure compared to where they are now. What they would lose is their status as a prestigious independent (instead becoming a member of a prestigious conference). To this point, they've valued that prestige over a few extra millions, and that's totally fine. Some people however seem to have the impression that they're actually making more money as an independent than they would in the Big Ten, and that's not the case.
  6. While I can't cite a rule, I'm almost certain the Big Ten does not allow teams to compete in other conferences if they support that sport already. Hockey is a sport the Big Ten does not organize, so schools that have it are free to compete in other conferences. I don't think that would apply to baseball or anything like that. That doesn't mean things couldn't change, though, but I think that'd be a situation the conference would like to avoid. Even if it's the truth (as in baseball), I think it cheapens the image of the conference, and I don't think that's something the Big Ten would be keen on doing.
  7. Is that true? That's crazy. When Illinois seemed to be a contender to make the World Series for a time last year, I knew it was a rarity for the school, but I had no idea just how rare, and for the conference as well. EDIT: When I said College World Series, I meant the playoff tournament, I think Pat may have meant the final 2 teams. Just wanted to clarify.
  8. There's sports that not all schools compete in because they don't field teams. I don't believe the Big Ten would allow a school to pick and choose some sports as Big Ten and others as not, though. If they field a team, and the Big Ten organizes that sport, then they'll have to be a member.
  9. Then what about the Pac-10? Every year, UT would play Sooner and the Corps, but just replace Baylor and Texas State with Purdue and Indiana. The Purdue game would be great so we could see who REALLY has the World's Biggest Snare Drum! That intrigues me. Hey, where's "spammy" with all his inside information since he works directly with a D-1 athletic director? ] Guys, the Big Ten is not going to expand, period. The whole conference would have to vote on it, its just not happening. If it did, however, Missouri or Iowa State would be added, just because of geographical location. Texas will stay in the Big 12, and if Texas were to leave, the would join the PAC 11. Thats really all I have to say on this... The Big Ten will expand if they get a big fish that makes it worth it. Texas would be one. Notre Dame would be another. There are few other legitimate possibilities. Iowa State? Not even a remote chance. Mizzou? Simply a remote chance. Those schools are likely to decrease average revenue, and that's not an option.
  10. Texas would be a coup for the Big Ten, and is one of only a handful of schools the conference should consider.
  11. Actually, I think several people would think a tournament in flyover country is indeed a step down from playing at MSG. I can see several high schoolers from New York feeling that way, so that fits the original point, and it's valid. However, the steep basketball tradition in Indiana, the beautiful venue that is Conseco Fieldhouse, and the quality of play that is Big Ten basketball puts the BT Tourney in Indy right on par with any conference tourney at MSG. But again, I wouldn't expect a young kid from up north to feel the same, so I could see it hurting recruiting.
  12. In the past 8 years, Ohio State and Michigan have only finished 1-2 once. I recognize the fact that overall they're still the two dominant programs and there were a lot of 3rd place (some tied for 2nd, losing the tiebreaker) finishes in that span. But I'm with Infrared here. Let's not decide things under the assumption those two schools are going to play for the championship every year. Stick them in the same division and play their game the week before the championship and be done with it. However, in response to resting players, the top two teams in the Big Ten are probably playing for BCS berths, whether it's NCG or not. They're not likely to be okay with a loss. Really, to me, any system works, and Ohio State-Michigan fans will just have to deal with the results. The only guarantee is that they should always play. I'm actually not in favor of the championship game, but I know it's gonna happen.
  13. This is not a real rivalry. This is a matchup between two schools in the same state. But it's not a rivalry worth maintaining if it stands in the way of other beneficial things. At least that's my opinion as an Illinois student (and near alumn). And that's not because the match-ups are lopsided. We generally beat them in basketball, but we don't always. And we should probably beat them frequently in football, but my experience is we rarely, rarely do. It's balanced. But nobody really cares (more than any other game), that's all.
  14. My list would be: 1. ND 2. Pitt I might stop it there. This is more significant than past speculation in that the conference has said "Yes, we're definitely interesting and officially looking." But it's not that significant in that they said "This is still going to be a process and nothing is imminent."
  15. Thanks for the help with the Illini guys. I'll probably just end up drawing the numbers for my concept.
  16. University of Illinois number font? What about player name? Futura Condensed Medium gets me close on most letters for the name, but I'm stumped on the number.
  17. Ok, I'm just checking this for the first time in a while, and I see there have been some requests for my templates. They should all be accessible in the links in my post and the one from snowcap (thanks snow). Anyone needs anything else, lemme know.
  18. OK, here is where the templates went. http://www.brick.net/~illinimom/random/sta...tras/templates/ No updates to it though. Here is where you can find my newer football temp in raster and vector. http://www.brick.net/~illinimom/random/fan...emp/fbtemp.html
  19. yea..what ever happened to our plan? School...that's what happened... It's still in the plans though...not that that means much...
  20. At some point I plan on compiling a Nascar Paint Scheme history site.
  21. I have created a vector and raster temp of for baseball. It is basically based off of BDugans temp. Once again, I like flat sleeves. It uses the hat from the template PANTONE posted. I apologize for the poor hat quality in the raster version, but Illustrator doesn't rasterize things great. .gif: http://home.earthlink.net/~jbstri/fanatic/...mp/baseball.gif .ai: http://home.earthlink.net/~jbstri/fanatic/...emp/baseball.ai
  22. Rare to see a concept in those sports, but now maybe they will exist. Good work.
  23. I'm happy to release my new football template. My old one is setup as if it has pads under it, and I decided I don't like that. I prefer a flat setup. I have this in vector and raster format. I have 8 different cuts included. Eight .gifs or one .eps. There are mesh inserts available, as well as the Giants and Bills style of tapering collars. When rasterizing some quality was obviously lost. Overall, the only thing I'm not big on after looking back is the mesh inserts. I feel the holes are too big, and there are not enough. I may release an improvement on that later, but for now I will leave it. I put a copyright thing on the page for protection, but obviously I share the templates with all of you. And finally, the link. http://home.earthlink.net/~jbstri/fanatic/...emp/fbtemp.html
  24. Well the elastic part sorta confused me, but I know the Blues use more of a V-neck then a rounded colar.
