You know, that's not really that bad. Although I would say have a LITTLE orange, just to tie it to their history. But brown and white ain't awful.

Purely as an on-field look, it's not bad. As an overall identity package, it suffers from all the weaknesses that the previous Browns did. There's no obvious team logo or identity, and nothing that marks this look as clearly "Browns." That's semi-excusable if you're just attempting to maintain 50 years of tradition, but if you're going to move away from the traditional look (yes, I know they wore white helmets briefly once upon a time, but that makes this a fauxback at best), you may as well fix the other glaring flaws.

Any jersey Brook Lopez plays in from here on out (unless he returns to us down the line) is his wrong jersey!

Which jersey is the "right" one for Brook Lopez then?  I know he's been with the Nyets his whole career, but they haven't exactly had a consistent identity.

  3. Since we brought up Charles Barkley, here's one that I'm sure was posted but I'll post again.

CB in the wrong uniform (I associate him with the late '80s blue block letter set) and wrong number (he selfishly took Billy Cunningham's #32 to "honor" Magic Johnson who got HIV because he was dumb.)

When these were unveiled he said that it looked like his little daughter got her hands on a box of crayons and went nuts and that he hated them.

Speaking of Barkley in the wrong uniform - why does the 76ers' banner for Barkley's retired #34 have the Iverson-era "76ers" script? Barkley never came close to playing in those uniforms.

That's gotta be a rare shot. An AL pitcher batting pre-Interleague Play?

I wonder if this was an Exhibition game, or just some crazy late-game scenario where the DH got pinch-hit for or was unavailable or one of those deals.

It was taken at Dodger stadium, so it may have been a Angels-Dodgers two game series before the season started, which was common before interleague.

According to Baseball Reference, Abbott never made a plate appearance for the Angels, so this must have been some kind of exhibition.

IMO, the nightime lighting @ Qualcomm makes that uniform look really bad. However, during the day it looks awesome.

I just hate the navy facemask on that helmet. I wish they'd go to a white one.

The thing that kills the Chargers' uniform for me isn't the home uniforms, each of which look fine. It's the away uniform, specifically, the fact that the pants and the socks are the same color. The jersey looks great, but navy socks below navy pants make the lower half of the uniform look drab and heavy.

If the Chargers had literally any other conceivable sock besides solid navy, this uniform would be killer. They could go with the obvious white/navy stripe, like they used to do with their navy pants. Or, if they were feeling crazy, they could go with yellow, powder blue, or some kind of stripe using the lightning bolt. But the semi-leotard look (semi because their pants have a stripe and the socks don't) sucks.

  6. Come on, you have to vote for anyone who can pull off the vaunted FNOB. B)

Another fun fact... every Congressman wears the uniform of their home team, supplied by the teams. The teams are GOP vs. DNC.

And another fun fact: the GOP won all 8 games while George W. Bush was president, but the Democrats have won all 3 since Obama took office.

  7. I don't know if this has been mentioned in this thread before, but I think it could be a good idea for the NFL to allow the use of alternate helmets for teams that are willing to put them to use.

Eh, it could start a terrible trend. If one team does it, pretty much every team will jump on board to get in on the money craze. I really don't think the NFL needs more alternate-anything right now.

How would alternate helmets start a "money craze"? The number of replica helmets sold is miniscule, at least compared to other apparel. Alternate helmets may present the problem of diluting the brand just to grab attention, but that's another issue.

  8. This is photoshop, he NEVER EVER EVER played for the Sharks.

As much as you'd like to forget, he did infact play for San Jose. 3 wins in 13 games.

edit: that hockey card of Belfour actually looks shopped. The stick in the logo is teal. o.O

I think a lot of people are missing a lot of sarcasm.

  9. Back on topic,

Steve Bono was a scab with the Steelers

Really, that's Steve Bono wearing 28?

Ooops, that's Lupe Sanchez who was a regular Steeler that season but was roommates with Bono who was a replacement player with the Steelers.

Here's a screencap of a video showing Steve Bono on the Steelers - he's #15.

And speaking of former 49er backup QBs, here's Elvis Grbac as a Raven:

Thurman Thomas wearing the ultimate enemy uniform down in Miami in 2000.

    thurman-thomas_mia2000.jpg

That's not only the wrong uniform; it's the wrong facemask. I'll always associate Thomas with the "NOPO" (nose and oral protection only) facemask with a bar down the middle, since he seemed to be one of the only skill-position players (or at least the most prominent) who wore one.

  11. Most of these have probably been done somewhere in this marathon thread, so I'll keep them to links:

    Bruce Smith on the Redskins

    Deion on the Ravens, Redskins

    Cris Carter on the Eagles

    Keyshawn on the Panthers

    Pedro Martinez on the Expos

    Pat Swilling on the Lions

Eric Dickerson on the Falcons, Raiders

Andre Rison on the Packers, Jaguars, Colts, Raiders, Chiefs

Reggie White on the Panthers, with the wrong number on the Eagles

    Jim Plunkett on the Patriots
