Maybe it's just the lighting in the photo, but getting vibes of the last Whalers colour scheme prior to relocation from that rumoured Canucks RR.
It's fine, as a design but Johnny isn't my favoured crest. At least it isn't another gradient jersey.
Make it a green primary with blue and white stripes though!

Better than the regular logo.

I'd love the Canucks to bring the black skate jersey back as a full time 3rd, but not a primary look. A little goes a long ways with dipping into alternate colour schemes, but it would surely be a more interesting 3rd jersey than the anonymous stick and rink one they have now.

You know what, I think I actually like the Bolts jersey. As others have mentioned, it has some old Team Canada vibes.

That Jersey alt, just so boring.

As a Canucks fan, going back to your original colour scheme is usually the best course of action IMO. Go back to Jade and Eggplant, mix in orange if you must, but trash the black.

My man is clearly skipping leg day.

I heard the delay was due to someone involved in the announcement having a family emergency. The Canucks basically had fired everyone in their front office aside from essential hockey ops people so there was probably no one to cover it. Bridgeport, CT is located on the Long Island Sound, so that's where Sound came from in the name.
The new identity is awful -- I didn't particularly like the old name or logo (although I have a uniform from when they were blue/yellow/black in my closet) but at least it had character.
Sound Tiger is a solid 80's band name.
This re-brand is tedious, however.

Well, Bell killed it's TSN Radio stations in Hamilton, Winnipeg and Vancouver, in the scummiest way possible. They pulled the plug while the stations were on the air, and gave employees 30 minutes to get their stuff and get out.

Why does this look like 7-11 owns a hockey team?

Unless they move back to the East, I'm not sure what recourse they have. I can't think of anywhere in California they can go, and since the Flames own them, they'll have to eat the extra travel costs involved in relocation.
I mean, what are they going to do, revive the Sundogs?
Back to Abbotsford?

New BCHL team for next year, effectively replacing the Kootenay Ice.

Yeah, there's something about not being able to take federal employees to games because it's considered a gift and would lead to corruption. It seems to be an Ottawa-specific problem.
Basically, if you work in government, you can't accept gifts of any significant value.
People bitch about government employees all the time, but at least in Canada, they're under pretty strict rules about that kind of thing.

Going to be amusing to see how they spin giving Seattle less generous expansion draft terms than Vegas got.

I will always remain thankful GM Place/Rogers Arena in Vancouver was built entirely privately (as stadiums should be). The BC place reno was hugely publicly expensive, but at least the public owns the facility.

Why's that? The gambling thing? That was years ago and he's complied with his reinstatement condition that he not be involved in any type of gambling.
Coaching in the same division as Vegas might be a challenge?

Quebec is going to get screwed. I can feel it.
The arena's already been built under shady circumstances. Quebec has already been screwed; we are now merely awaiting confirmation of the extent of said screwing.
To be fair, I think everything in Quebec is built in shady circumstances. There has been a hell of a lot of corruption come to light in Quebec over the last few years.

So...what exactly is the point of this and the other anti-sports season threads? Are we supposed to be putting links to news that disparages the NHL or what?
Less obtuse thread titles would probably help make it clear too.

This Rogers commercial would be more realistic if the family of Vancouver fans with Mark Messier spent the whole commercial trying to kill him.

mind = blown
For some reason they've been making replicas of that Canucks jersey and stocking them in stores around Vancouver. I don't get it, they weren't even popular when they were new.
That jersey has a couple of interesting things going on, a phantom flying v homage, and the only red primary canucks jersey design ever made, unless you count the Orca gradient jersey, which I don't.
Oh, also, that picture is also a rare match up as the Canucks wore that jersey with black socks for one year, and then red socks the second year of that jersey.

Very much agree with this, though I don't know if anyone wants the original Orca colour scheme back!
