  1. NC A&T is likely going to the CAA less than two years after going to the Big South, Lindenwood is supposedly moving up to D1 and will go to the OVC. I wonder if they'll finally announce their varsity hockey team.
  2. CUSA being the best mid-major was actually a while ago and they were lapped by the Sun Belt a few years ago. They did it to themselves too. Fans of both departing and remaining schools hate Judy MacLeod with a fiery passion. CUSA is threatening legal action, which is what the three schools wanted the whole time... lawyers talking. UAB football's social media team killed it with this schedule announcement
  3. The Sun Belt is planning on releasing their football schedule 3/1 so a move had to be done this month. You'll notice the Sun Belt hasn't said a damn thing about this. The first post you see on the conference's website is about JMU playing in 2022. They're trying not to get sued. I think these announcements were made when they were because it became clear the negotiations between the schools and CUSA were not going well. Seems the schools are saying, "look, we know we're gonna have to pay, we just wanna know how much and you're dragging your feet."
  4. Not eligible for a bowl nor the Sun Belt Championship[p[ Game. This will let them fill their fourth OOC spot so they can get paid like an FBS team, not an FCS team. Even for as good as JMU was as an FCS team, they can command more money as a FBS team.
  5. Nike Hockey just needs to be a thing of the past.
  6. I hoped the Canada reds would look alright with the white of the ice but holy hell. The white jersey is the only decent part of this set.
  7. JMU is going FBS in 2022. The CUSA Three are still working on their early exit.
  8. You'd be surprised how many times a coach, especially a first time or young HC, is told they have to have X on staff.
  9. This is still purely speculation on my part but I remember saying that if West Florida was going to go D1, some facility upgrades were going to be needed. Well... today they posted photos of them replacing the old "bleachers" (which sat maybe, MAYBE 100 people) at the UWF Soccer Complex with a new, permanent set seating around 750. Previously they had like three of these.
  10. They're already in the process of replacing old Aloha with new Aloha. The stadium is supposed to be ready in 2024 or 2025. It's supposed to break ground in early 2023
  11. June botched it himself. He offered to take the job before the job was offered to him. Chang was going to be the HC of Hawaii at some point and, according to some, would have been on Jones' staff but June wanted more freedom in his staff beyond that. Hawaii didn't want to throw a first time head coach into this mess but they were forced to. I think Hawaii head coach Timmy Chang would have a mile long leash. I think first time head coach Timmy Chang thrown into the dumpster fire that is Hawaii football gets a ten mile leash.
  12. Bringing it back to sports radio, Greg was 100% spot on. When I worked in radio, I was making $9.50/hr to be the "Operations Manager." I was responsible for making the schedule for myself, the other full time hourly worker, as well as the part-timers and interns. I was told by both the owner and GM to not schedule myself for more than 36 hours a week "just in case." They didn't outright say they didn't want to pay me OT but that's the only conclusion you can make. I'd always end up working 40 hours a week somehow because I would find random crap to do or I'd take my time driving the hour back from the HS game we were broadcasting. I also worked at least one hour a day for 29 straight days at times. The GM and owner often times weren't on the same page. When I started, the owner said I could dabble in sales if I wanted to and some of the sales reps would give me some pointers. Then the new owner of the station told me if I did that, I would have to do it off the clock but he would pay me commission on it. Basically, he didn't want me "wasting time" on it so that's why he told me that. He didn't think it would be worth it despite me having corporate sales contacts from my time with the Ice Flyers who didn't want to advertise on the station, even on the broadcasts of the Ice Flyers games) unless I was getting a cut. There's a new version of the station that's actually doing things the right way from the looks of it (a.k.a. hiring decent people and giving them an actual budget),
  13. Not quite yet on the MVFC. The MVC and the MVFC are two separate entities. It does seem imminent though.
  14. That's not really at play here. That would mean the USA Hockey logo is on the crest of the U20 jerseys but it's not. The U18 and U17 teams sometimes wear the Olympic jerseys with the USAH crest, sometimes they use the U20 template. I think it's just USA Hockey having different designs for different levels. The World Junior A Championship teams wear totally different designs. The U18 team will actually wear those at the Hlinka Gretzky tournament.
  15. Disney has a portal rink system they bring with them so they can have shows in buildings without ice plants, whether they be dead or nonexistent. Disney prefers buildings have ice making capabilities because it's typically cheaper to have the building build up the ice layer by layer than for them to build one up from scratch.
  16. Don't forget TRIPLE CROWN! KENTUCKY DERBY, PREAKNESS ... oh someone else won the Preakness, YOU SHOUL D STILL CARE ABOUT THE BELMONT!
  17. That's interesting. It also explains why you don't see many 91s, 88s, 77s, etc. at the lower levels. I always figured each country ordered jerseys and just put whoever fit in whatever jerseys but I hadn't considered it was set by the IIHF's agreement with Tackla.
  18. I doubt it. The IOC delegates the tournaments to the sports' respective bodies and teams where the same jersey designs at the various tournaments between the Olympics. The only difference is the federation logo will be on the non-Olympic jerseys. I'm excited about the women's national teams being added to NHL 22 but I wonder if it will be all IIHF teams. Will I actually be able to play as Mexico, North Korea, or New Zealand?
  19. Not yet at least. They're considering adding football. Not sure how far along in the decision making process they are but it's a distinct possibility.
  20. Money. Canadian and US fans will buy these jerseys. Swedish, Finnish, Czech, etc. fans probably would but not in the numbers their NA rivals will.
  21. That may be the case on those points but unless FIU is over reporting how much they spend on football (aka committing fraud). a big chunk of what Butch said is demonstrably false via a FOIA request or photos of the uniforms. Hell, I'm not invested enough to do it but it should be easy enough to submit a FOIA request to see if they actually bought used pads. We could also find tweets from recruits talking about coaches visiting that would disprove that claim.
  22. One of Butch's other complaints was that the school had a job posting for "Head Coach." There was no sport specific info in the job posting and it's a usual thing, especially in Olympic sports to get an idea of who might be interested in a job. It also takes care of state laws that require state employee job postings even if you know who you're going to hire. The confusion came when various Miami media outlets said the posting was on the AFCA website (which was true) and just assumed it was football without the posting stating a sport. It was also posted multiple other places (example). Long story short, there might be some truth to what Butch said be it's also largely he's petty and wanted to be the one to burn things as he left. I think he was done after this season no matter what and someone internally did something to piss him off. Also, it's easily verifiable that the uniforms aren't 9 years old because they didn't have the shiny numbers in 2012 and the adidas tire tracks didn't exist then.
  23. Dare I dream of a decent looking Olympic tournament or would I be flying too close to the sun? Diamond pattern aside, these look great.
