  2. Top of the Rays ring is beautiful. The sides, not so much.
  3. lol and oh to get a template i should just google search "jersey template"? Try this thread. http://boards.sportslogos.net/index.php?showtopic=63599 It has bunches of them. i have one last question: is it illegal to use microsoft Clip Art to find a picture of an animal/mascot, and then use it as a base log on which you edit and add things around it? and what about this web site, is it illegal to copy and paste from it? is this ok? alright never mind. i read the copyright info. i can use them however i want and can post up to 3 to a website. if i want to post more i have to get permission... Wouldn't recommend it - it's always better to come up with your own original work. If you do decide to edit someone else's work, make sure to give credit to the original designer and state in your concept thread where you got the original from. This cannot be stressed enough - if you didn't design it, cite where you got it from (unless it's blatantly obvious, like an NFL logo.)
  4. No problem. BBTV is always looking for an opportunity to show a n00b the way.
  5. Plenty of users have made some good-looking logos / uniforms on Paint. You just have to be very patient and take your time, because like you said, there aren't a lot of features. Tip: you can cheat a little bit by using the shape tools in MS Office products to make basic shapes, and then transfer them over to Paint (using print screen or something.) If you get good fonts, you can use Word Art to make basic wordmarks and transfer them over too. Templates are more for uniforms than logos. They'll have the basic shape, along with the seams, so you can see where to put your piping, or striping, or other type of trim. Not necessary for logos, but highly recommended for jerseys.
  6. The Phillies now just hang flags that state the year something was won (*points to sig*). They are color coded to represent the highest championship won that year. So for example for 1980, there is just one red banner that reads 1980, despite the fact that they also won the NL East and NL Pennant that season. I don't like this, because now that it is possible to win your league and WS without winning your division, you can't just assume all of the lower-level championships. I think that they should do like NBA and NHL teams and (despite the redundancy) hang one flag per championship, regardless of season. Hey - it's the Phillies - it's not like we're talking about that many flags!
  7. Don't the Rockies have a division championship banner or two? Where are those?
  8. Agreed. The tri-banner thing was great, but I can see how it would cause a problem considering now it is possible to win the cup without winning your division, so it would look really weird if they won the cup but only earned two banners.
  9. It depends on what this "standardization" is. If it is just making them all the "new" gold, then maybe they'll keep it. Unfortunately, my guess is that since the two banners from last season can't be displayed in the same multi-banner format, that they're "standardizing" by making them all individual. It's a shame, because the tri-banner thing looked pretty darn cool.
  10. As a packer fan, seeing Brett in a Jets uni will be hard enough, I agree, thak God it isnt one of those lime green and white disasters they used to where. Now I think they have one of the better unis in the league, so that might help ease the pain a little When exactly did the Jets where[sic] "lime green and white"?
  11. I think they will look something like this, which is basically just like their old ones, only with different colors and conference/division names: Maybe the real conference champions one will be hung slightly higher than the others in the non-cup group. But since theres no divisional playoffs, there's no need for a Regular Season designation. You don't think they'd just split Champions across two banners? Also, I never thought about the color differences between the banners. These will look pretty odd next to the ones with the bright gold.
  12. I'm really curious to see what the Penguins do for their banners from this year, since as far as I know this is the first time they've won more than one without winning all three, and they've done that cool triple-banner "cha mpi ons" thing in the past.
  13. Wouldn't the Reds have that honor? Or at least any of the class of 1883 (unless the Braves were in that, and I just didn't do my research.)
  14. I would HOPE it's not Billy Idol... ...and Billy Joel has the #12 retired at MSG for his record 12-sold out shows there... ...and Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band at the Meadowlands have a banner... Billy Joel's Philadelphia banner is for 46 sellouts, and Springsteen's is for 45 sellouts (or at least it was last time I saw it - it could be more now.)
  15. No kidding. Good catch. Because they retired his number after they had updated their logo. That's the reason, I definitely disagree with that reason though. Yeah, they were really big into their new "identity" back then. It sucks that they used that logo.
  16. Why don't the Blue Jays have an AL East Champs and AL Champs Banners for the years they won the World Series? Don't most teams have the banners for their division championships and League/Conference championships even when they win the Big Title? The Phillies also only celebrate their highest championship, so in 1993, they only had a NL Champions sign, not an NL East Champions sign, even though they won the division.
  17. I always liked the "triple-championship" banner idea, but what would they do if they won another cup in a year where they didn't win the division? It would look pretty weird to have a double-championship banner next to the triples. Well, they actually didnt win the division both times. At least not in the regular season. The division part of the triple banner shows that they won it in the playoffs, same with the conference part of it. The regular season division championships are hung the seperate group at the other end. Yeah, but there actually were divisional playoffs back then, so it is still an accurate banner. Now that the playoffs are just top 8 per conference, you could win the cup while only winning your conference and not your division. Yeah. I hope they keep the old ones if we win it again rather than changing them to be consistent with a new one. Well at least it won't be an issue (win or lose) this season.

  20. Larry Czonka indeed finished with the Giants. It was he who Joe Pisarchek was attempting to hand-off too in the "miracle at the Meadowlands" play that Herman Edwards returned for a touchdown.
  21. I've always (apparently mistakenly) said it like sands. Then again I also say Aunt like ant.
  22. Stupid font related question: Is the "a" in the word sans (as in sans-serif) pronounced more like "sands" or like "sauna"?
  23. Another stop on the Adam Oates retirement tour.
